    Money challenge: Effective or not?

As the year starts, some are trying to kick off the year with money challenges. It is an alternative way to save money but not all challenges are fit for everyone.

Which one have you tried? Which one worked for you?

Nakakatawa isipin pero *** money savings habit ko nagstart sa isang online game nung bata ako. Naalala ko nun di ko ginagastos *** pera na allowance ko para makabili ng e-points. Then as time goes by, natigil ako maglaro nito pero *** habit ko na pagsasave di na nawala. Hanggang ngayon na nagwowork na ko halos 70% ng salary ko nasasave ko haha

Last year nag start ako ng money saving challenge pero di successful so sana this year eh magawa ko na. Meron siyang excel file na na-download ko then ilalagay mo yung balak mo i-save monthly then may computation na lalabas na dapat mong i-save for that month (i hope that makes sense).

May FB Page sila: 12month.savingchallenge then andun din yung savings challenge calculator under the file tab just in case someone wants to try it, too.

Effective sa akin yung EIP - UITF ng BDO which is to deduct an amount from my savings bi-monthly and then they invest it. Sila na bahala kung paano mapapalago yung pera mo just be sure na hindi mo kailangan yung pera anytime soon. May withholding period sila kaya sa unang 6 months di mo mawithdraw tapos minsan naman nagnenegative yung value (dependent on stocks and economy) kaya lalo mong hindi mawiwithdraw kasi lugi ka. It takes 4 days din ata para macash out yung pera so tatamarin ka rin magwithdraw. Applicable din ata to sa ibang bangko.

I opened a savings account with PSBank earlier today.

May accounts din ako sa BPI at BDO.

Plano ko rin mag-open kay Metrobank kapag nakapag-ipon pa uli.

you are wasting the potential of your money. having two savings account is good enough in case one bogs down. instead of opening another savings account, try asking for banking schemes which have higher interest than 1%.

I'm curious, how much is the annual return when you invest in EIP-UITF?

It depends on what type of funds you are subscribed. If you are too conservative try the Money Market Fund. BDO has an online questionnaire that will assess you risk appetite. Remember that UITF, Mutual Funds and ETFs do not have insurance coverage. I suggest you get a VUL from one of the top insurance company PruLifeUK so your savings and investment are protected. PM me so I can refer you to my agent.

The secret behind the Money Challenge is discipline but it is wiser if you will be prepared for your future. So Save and Invest right now.

I don't want to sound rude but I want some figures. "It depends" do not give any figure. A percentage range is okay like from 5% to 20% for this kind of fund. If you are conservative, you can get 3% to 8% return in a year.

I'm a stock trader btw so I actually don't need mutual funds. I just want to know how much those who invest in mutual funds earn.

Thanks for the info. That's what I need. So basically equity funds give the best result among the mutual funds. The ROI is around 20%. This is better than putting your money in time deposit. But it is actually better if you trade the stocks yourself. The ROI will be a lot higher than those of the mutual funds. But then again you need to learn first but after that, you can earn more than the mutual funds.

What works for me is an auto-debit arrangement like BPI's Save Up where you can specify how much will be debited and how many times per month.

I have been in forex competition and I can say that it was worth it, since on one occasion I won a prize of $ 500 USD and since then I have been able to operate in real accounts, so in my case if they work
