    Asian rankings
    1. China
    2. Iran - I want this team to qualify. but since homecourt ng China eh, mukhang ttustahin ang mga iranians. China will do everything to get that asian slot.
    3. Korea
    4. Jordan
    5. Gilas
    6. Japan

if battle for last place may pag asa pa. Out na si Hachimura for the rest of FIba tournament. Akalain mo yan pala ang target 😂🤣😂🤣

News: Ex-BCAP head Yeng Guiao believes American-Kiwi Tab Baldwin not eligible to coach Ateneo: ‘We should follow the law’

Philippine national men’s basketball team head coach Tab Baldwin was announced as the new head coach of the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles in the UAAP on Monday but there are those that believe that American-Kiwi might not be eligible to helm the collegiate squad.

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao, a former head of the Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines (BCAP), reminded that foreigners are not allowed to coach local teams – with a few exceptions.

“My opinion does not really matter. All that needs to be done is for everyone to follow the law. As far as I know he is not allowed to coach professionally unless he is a permanent resident,” Guiao told InterAksyon.com in a telephone interview.

“Hindi rin naman siya married to a Filipina and hindi rin siya naturalized. In short, hindi talaga siya allowed to coach a local team.”

The hiring of foreign coaches has been challenged by the BCAP several times in the past. Guiao and other local coaches in the BCAP filed cases against foreign coaches like Bill Bayno and Paul Woolpert, citing the Labor Code of the Philippines.

Under the Labor Code, employment permits may be issued to a “non-resident alien” after the determination of “the non-availability of a person in the Philippines who is competent, able and willing at the time of application to perform the services for which the alien is desired.”

“Ang laki ng hirap namin diyan. Dati, wala kaming pera but we stood firm and fought for the right of local coaches,” Guiao said.

“Actually, wala naman na kaming interest dito, but to the other coaches who are capable, andiyan sina (Ateneo assistant coaches) Ronnie Magsanoc and Sandy Arespacochaga who are qualified and very much willing to coach. We’re also hoping we can produce future champion coaches like Aldin Ayo or a Bong dela Cruz,” he added.

According to Guiao, he’s had a conversation with current BCAP president Alfrancis Chua about the matter and both feel there is a violation of the law.

In an interview with Fraulein Olavario of News5, Baldwin, who is a consultant for the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters in the PBA, said he sympathizes with the BCAP and other local coaches but stressed that he just wants to help out the Filipino players and coaches in a transfer of technology.

But Guiao believes there are many ways to help out local players and coaches.

“Kung gusto niyang tumulong bakit hindi na lang siya mag-consultant? Transfer of technology pa rin yun, hindi ba? Ano bang alam niya na hindi natin alam?” Guiao said.

Guiao, who is also the Congressman of the 1st District of Pampanga, said there should be no need for a Congress hearing on the matter.

“Magagawa lang natin sa Congress is make an inquiry. But since may batas na, what BCAP could do is file a case or ask for a TRO,” he said.

The BCAP, though, did not oppose Baldwin’s appointment as head coach of the Gilas Pilipinas national team.

    Lets back track.....

During the Asian Qualifiers, diba ma pride tong si CYG at hindi sinama si Blatche vs Iran? or is it the decision of SBP. That alone, could have cost our slot in the World cup. Blatche did save our *****$ not CYG in the last 2 games. The world cup is just an entirely different stage. An old, huff and puffing Andray blatche was helpless against the Italians and the Serbs. Dapat duon pa lang hinanapan na ng back up si Blatche. Still they stick with o'l Dray. Matindi lang siguro un dasal ni kalbo during our last game. Imagine the World cup slot is out of our hands already. Ang nkkabad trip lang nakuntento na sya dun. naging proud. and he thought he can show off what Philippine Basketball is all about. Ayun nilampaso tayo tulad ng buhok nya. The Ravena inclusion is really Bull Sh%+.  Lastly, this is a duplicate performance of his 2009 Fiba Asia stint, this time World stage. Matuwa pa ako kng Si Jawo mag coach. Who ever watched that 1990 Asian Games PBA squad, un tlaga. panalo un.

mejo hazy if not non-existent na memory namin jan eh lol

But the 1990 asian games, led by coach Jaworski was the great performance iv seen since the 2013 FIba Asia. eto un 1st time na naglabas ng all pro team ang pinas. inunahan pa nila ang Dream team hehe.  At that time, 6"5 lng pinakamalaki natin. While Japan has 7"0 center, North Korea has 7"7, then China, well lam mo nman d mwwalan ng 7 footers and they have this sleek wingman named Ma Jian.

You may n9t rmember how good Robert Jaworski when it comes to coaching. He may not be the X n O type of a guru (like tim cone, norman black or chot reyes) but when it comes to motivation and leadership he is well respected. How can u manage a bunch of stars like:
    1. Alvin Patrimonio
    2. Samboy lim
    3. Allan Caidic
    4. Benjie Paras
    5. Ronnie Magsanoc
    6. Hec Calma.
    7. Ramon Fernandez

    lahat yan sumunod kay RSJ.

    tpos off d bench mo
    8. Yves Dignadice
    9. Dante Gonzalgo
    10. Chito Loyzaga
    11. Rey cuenco
    12. Zaldy Realubit

Wala akong nakitang binangko dito. lahat halos nagamit. or un iba may special highlight. imagine Chito Loyzaga guarding the 7"7 of North Korea.

Where in we lost to the Chinese in the tune of 65 pts.  but after that, bounce back, won straight games then met China again in the finals. lost 14 pts. kng ttuusin d nga to naduplicate eh kahit anong lakas ng team na pinadala natin. 1998, 2002 and 2014 batch were way better pero d umabot ng finals.

    salamat idol!

i remember ma jian, sha yng parang 'patrimonio' daw nila and part of the three-headed monster of chn at the paint with bateer menke and wang zhi zhi, '94 edition ata or up to '98 pa

Song Li Gang, Shan Tao, Adil Jan yung ibang players nila.
Other names include a young Gong Xiaobing, Sun Fengwu, Wang Fei (who Calma faced in the 1982 Asian Youth), Zhang Bin and Gong Luming...

We cant beat these guys up until now. The closest time was the 2018 Asian games led by Idol ni Yeng Guiao, Jordan Clarkson. The 2017 Fiba asia cup win was fluke. half of their Team A didnt play.

Hangat d natin nllampasan itong China we wont stand any chance in World Basketball. in all fairness to the chinese theyve been preparing even if nilalampaso sila sa World cup or sa Olympics. They are well funded and they have the resources. And they 7 footers awaiting and developing. Something we dont have. And they do have a Pro league. yet when it comes to National team, pinaghahandaan at pinopondohan tlaga nila.

Even South Korea. Yes we beat them 2013. pero fast forward mo 2017, they just shrugged of their defeat and put up a shooting clinic then brought back the Korean Curse.

Pero ang totoo it was clarkson who made everything.

Halungkatin ko nga yung previous thread about asian games hehe.

Katok katok sa mga tinamaan dyan hehe
