Romance, fantasy and your favorite Korean stars will keep you entertained and in love this summer.

Abyss is a fantasy drama that tells a story of two people who are brought back to life with the help of a soul-reviving marble called ‘Abyss.’ Go Se-yeon and Cha Min, respectively played by the Korean rom-com goddess Park Bo-young (from Strong Girl Bong-soon and Oh My Ghost) and a rising star Ahn Hyo-seop, are revived with completely different appearances. Go Se-yeon is a strikingly beautiful prosecutor who is reincarnated as a lawyer with an ordinary look. Local Celebrity Couples Get Real

About Love and Relationships With Netflix

Does love suck or does love rule?

Let’s face it: love sucks. Fights are unavoidable, one of you might forget an anniversary, and sometimes, hearts are broken along the way. But no matter how messy it gets, the good parts of love — the kilig of a meet-cute, the excitement of a first kiss — make all the hardships worth it.

Netflix sat down with three Pinoy celebrity couples: BJ Pascual and Mike Lavarez, Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona, and Niko Del Rosario and Emmanuelle Vera, who candidly talked about the ups and downs of their own relationships.

    BJ Pascual and Mike Lavarez

More than being an artistic and creative couple (BJ is a celebrity and fashion photographer, while Mike is a DJ and art director), they use their platform to speak up about LGBTQ+ equality. They shared how they first met and how their relationship has changed them for their better.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s two guys, two girls, a guy and a girl,” said Mike. “It’s genuine. It’s true. It’s love.”

    Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona

Musicians Jim and Saab chatted with Netflix about who made the first move and taking the leap from friendship to something so much more, which helped them see through struggles they face

“My version of love is friendship,” shared Jim. “And then, ‘hey, can you be my friend when we raise another human being?’”

Niko Del Rosario and Emmanuelle Vera

Newly engaged couple Niko and Emmanuelle might still be in the honeymoon phase, but they view relationships with wisdom that’s beyond their years. They shared how they got engaged and how they both handle the downsides that often come with love.

“Love is always so romanticized by everyone, but love is tough. It’s probably the biggest struggle you’ll ever go through in life, it’ll pose the biggest challenge you’ll ever face, but at the same time, it’s the most rewarding thing ever,” said Emmanuelle.

Pinoys love love! From the highs of kilig and ligaw to the lows of hugot and TOTGA, Filipinos embrace love in every stage and every situation. According to a new survey conducted by Netflix, when it comes to finding The One, 72% of Filipinos believe in soulmates… even those who said they are NBSB/NGSB.

The online survey covered 800 Filipino video streamers, aged 18 to 34, across Metro Manila, North and Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to find out how they view love. And it turns out that a majority of Pinoys online (85%) say that love rules!

And who says romance is dead? 89% of Filipinos say that romance is very much alive in the Philippines. Cue the harana!

But let’s face it: when love rules, it can sometimes suck, too. 68% of those in a relationship say they’ve found The One, but 1 in 5 Filipinos in a relationship also confess that they do not see their partners as their soulmates. And 65% say that they’ve been heartbroken by someone they didn’t even officially date. Ouch!

When love sucks, 52% turn to friends and family for comfort, and 29% watch romantic movies and shows to nurse their broken heart. In fact, 63% prefer to laugh off the pain with comedies. Sawi men go for action and sci-fi, while heartbroken ladies watch more romance and dramas.

But no matter what the state of the heart is, Pinoys just really love onscreen romance. A whopping 80% say romantic movies cheer them up when they’re down, and  71% feel kilig when watching romantic films. Pinoys love to share the love, too: more than half of the respondents watch romance (53%) and rom-coms (55%) with bae. In fact, they love romance so much that 2 out of 3 Filipinos say they tend to compare their relationships with the ones they see onscreen.

And speaking of sharing the love, 82% say they prefer to watch Netflix with somebody (63% prefer their partners as their viewing companions). Netflix is helping up the courtship game too… 44% of men and 23% of women have used Netflix to flirt (wanna watch Netflix together?)

When it comes to Netflix rom-coms, the top 5 rom-coms that Pinoys would want to find themselves in are (in particular order):

    ●        To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

    ●        The Kissing Booth

    ●        The Perfect Date

    ●        Isn’t It Romantic

    ●        Set It Up

So, who are the Netflix heartthrobs that get Pinoys kilig the most? Among the male Netflix stars, The Perfect Date’s Noah Centineo, Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse, Romance Is a Bonus Book’s Lee Jong Suk, The Kissing Booth’s Jacob Elordi, Riverdale and The Last Summer’s KJ Apa, generate the most kilig.

Among the female stars, The Princess Switch’s Vanessa Hudgens, The Kissing Booth’s Joey King, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’s Lana Condor, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Kiernan Shipka, and YOU’s Shay Mitchell, create the most kilig.

And while Pinoys might be romantic at heart, when it comes to grand gestures from their favorite Netflix heartthrobs, 60% still want to keep it simple. A dinner and a movie with Noah or Lana, it is!

Netflix also sat down with three Pinoy celebrity couples: BJ Pascual and Mike Lavarez, Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona, and Niko Del Rosario and Emmanuelle Vera, who candidly talked about the ups and downs of their own relationships. Watch the video here
