I've been playing games since I was a kid. I've had different kinds of game systems (NES, Gameboy, Game Gear, All the PS's, all XBOX except this last one, I've had myriad of PC's---which I first cracked open when I was 12-ish, and a few laptops). I even remember playing DOS games or at least games that used DOS prompt.

...but I came to realize I really am not that great of a gamer. I love playing games, I know a lot about games etc. but in terms of playing I'm not really 'high skilled' compared to the hardcore games I see online. Nowadays I don't even play that much...I weirdly watch more people play games online than I do actually play games.
And honestly because I've always preferred single player games (except maybe some sports games I play with my brother online like NBA games), I feel like I'm not really comparable to others in terms of game sociability, hardcore-ness, and even skill. (There's only one game I ever really played online and I know I whoop a lot of *****---the TW series).

Does that make me less of a gamer? I think people who play games and enjoy and therefore consider themselves gamers, means they're gamers.

The only time I mock people who use "gAmERz" are those who are casual gamers that use that name to make $$$ ie pretend to be more than they really are. Most common of these are eThots/eGirls---girls who aren't really into gaming but play games and use sexual appeal to make money. It's an old sexual appeal manipulation of men with low self-esteem (since many gamers are geeky dudes who have less sociable traits) and they make gaming bad for women who actually enjoy playing games.

I played/had Family Computer, Nintendo Entertainment System, PSP, PS1 to PS4, PC and several laptops from HP, Acer, Sony Vaio, Macbook Air, MSI and now ASUS ROG. My older game consoles, I used to play Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros, Megaman, Galaga, Mario Brothers 3, Prisoners of war, Contra, Top Gun etc...
Some of my favorite games are all Gran Turismo, all Need for Speed, Final Fantasy 8 & 10, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 1 & 2, Tekken 7, NBA2K/Live, all Metal Gear, God of War 123, Horizon Zero Dawn, Dark Souls 3, Mortal Kombat X. Used to memorize all the Babalities and Fatalies in MK before. The first Gran Turismo, I managed to get all my licenses in Gold. Mistubishi GTO and Suzuki Escudo are my money making cars that time. Longest RPG I played was Final Fantasy 8, haba ng storyline nila Squall at Rinoah. Managed to max out all his abilities and sword na Lionheart.
Back in HS and College, I used to frequent Worlds Of Fun, Encore, Timezone etc iside the malls lalo na pag exempted ako sa Finals Exams ko. Parang yun ang reward ko sa sarili, magllunch sa House of Minis then papagabi sa arcade or manonood ng movie. Favortie ko dati yung Daytona in advance and expert mode. Also played shooting games like Time Crisis and House of the dead but I played arcade fighting games most of the time.
I'm just an above average player but can win maybe 5 to 8 winning streaks in a good day against other players kaya sulit ang token and I felt superior than other players and spectating crowds around me LOL, pero may ibang pa din tagalang mas magagaling sa combo that I've encountered. My favorite Tekken characters ko na laging ginagamit are Paul Phoenix, Heihachi, Jin, Law, Mokujin/Tetsujin (if you can play him, it means you know how to play all characters), Bob, Asuka, Miguel and of course King with my grappling combo.
Same with all the Street Fighter Alpha, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Vs. Capcom etc. Used to do some crazy 99 combo hits using Wolverine, Spiderman and Cyclops. In Street Fighter, Akuma/Gouki na talaga character na ginagamit ko with his ulti, sometimes Ken or Ryu. I remember sa arcade may pattern pa ko para maselect sila Evil Ryu, Black Spiderman and other hidden/alter ego heroes.
Sa smartphone, I used to play Mobile Legends for a few weeks then I stopped na, same with Call of Duty, Plants Vs Zombies, Flappy Bird and Clash of Clans. Madali ako magsawa kasi pag madali lang or walang challenge. LOL
On some occasions, I play Zynga Texas Poker or Bacarrat if I'm not playing the real ones. Mas masarap yung totoong casino, may money involved kasi. LOl
For PC gaming, I'm currently playing DOTA 2. My favorite characters that I always play are Invoker, Phantom Assasin, Legion Commander, Wraith King, Spirit Breaker, Faceless Void, Slardar; mostly melees and core heroes.
Also played Starcraft, Red Alert and Counter Strike back in the day.
And yeah, may brick game, Game Boy and Game and watch din pala ako dati.
I'm not only into games, hilig ko din ang cycling, any card game especially poker and bacarrat, in-line skating, swimming, basketball, bowling, darts, chess and billiards. :)
    Kaya balance lang lahat. :)

    Ont:

If you enjoy playing video games then you are a gamer. If you are being paid to play video games then you are professional gamer. Parang sa pag drive, Taxi driver, Bus driver,Truck driver, professional license ang meron sila pero kapag private cars ang dina drive mo for yourself or for your family, Non professional ang license.

Casual gamer lang ako, ML is the only game I play right now.

    Nvidia RTX 3080Ti
release is next month. Dalawa score sabay NVLink (currently running SLI - 2nd image below). Tapos upgrade PSU from 750 to 850-1000watts (whichever can handle load from 2x 3080Ti).

Waiting for the release of Black Myth Wukong. It's developed in Unreal Engine 4. I read years ago of Journey to the West and watched a movie adaptation. Dun din ata based tong game na to.
If Greek mythology has God of War, eto naman ang Chinese counterpart nya. DOTA2 also has a Monkey King as one of its hero.
I think I'm gonna buy it and the Ghost of Tsushima.

    Here's the game trailer.

Wala. As long as you enjoy games, maski competitive or casual gamer ka lang, pwede mo ng tawagin ang sarili mo na "Gamer". As if that title gives any privilege, haha.
  • Burt_MacklinBurt_Macklin PEx Veteran ⭐⭐

EXCEPT in Hearthstone where you need more wit than actual hand eye coordination. LMFAO.

They're hot though. Game nerds have always simped on women who played games.

I think slowly 'real hardcore competitive women gamers' will come out soon.

Until then most "celebrity women gamers" are just streamers who are semi good looking wearing cleavage that's about to pop out of their shirts ie regular women who use 'pfekpfek p0wer' to get 'gamer status'.

Our generation is addicted to dopamine hits, be it entertainment, gaming, experiences. Kaya very successful ang liberal brainwashing sa panahon natin kasi we're given over to cheap thrills, dopamine hits, and instant gratification.

With the Nvidia RTX 3000 series coming out...

There's so much new hardware that came out or coming out in the last few weeks and the next few months

    DDR5
    Zen 3's
    Gen 10 Intel CPU's
    Ryzen 3000's
    new RTX 3070 and 3080

I barely got 1080 gaming, now really the benchmark is at 1440p LMFAO Back 5 years ago raytracing was just a dream, now it's gonna be mainstream soon.

Ride the flow but don't go with the tide. I run an i9 but I wouldn't recommend an i-10. Ryzens are much more reasonably priced. I still run a GTX card and skipped the 1st release of RTXs. Besides, the next iteration of cards are just as reasonable priced (as claimed). There is no real requirement to go 1440p. I still run a 1080p ultrawide at 60Hz since more than 70% of use goes to production than gaming. Assuming if I'd jump to 1440p, I prefer it to be ultrawide and no less than 120Hz refresh rate on an IPS monitor.

Oh no I agree AMD is much better bang for the buck and the architecture of the chipset is much more robust too (wherein the bus and the chipset have separate lanes). I've had Ryzens in the last two builds. But really the higher end (the cream of the crop) really is Intel's newest series.

I love AMD. I love their stocks, I love their CEO. Even though now I have a Nvidia card, I have had their GPU's in my last few builds.

I'm happy 1080p, but I'd definitely pay for a gaming monitor that's 144hz 5ms. I don't play FPS where its super necessary, but if they keep coming out with games like Cyberpunk 2077 I might change my mind. LMAO

If I see a deal on curved 144hz monitor around 250 on a good brand I won't hesitate. My monitors are 75hz vertical monitors (I use it for work), so I'm good but if I can get a 3rd gaming monitor for the right price I'll get it in a heartbeat.

My next buy is definitely a new 4k TV (although I'm debating really whether to get it now or wait till I get a new house). If I get it now my max would be 50, but if I get my own home I can probably in the 70 or 80's lol. I can get that big in my apt. but I don't want to have to move it later, so I might just wait.
