What Unexpected Positive Things Did You Realize or Occurred In Your Life Due to Pandemic/Lockdown?

Concentrating on the negative effects of this pandemic can make a lot of people depressed and or angry.
Instead let's concentrate on 'unexpectedly' positive outcomes or things you realized (that are good that you can use moving forward) thanks to the pandemic/lockdown?

Mine:
-My CEO finally recognized how useless some of the higher ups are and how much of the company's work is actually done through me and only me. They've always known this, but its good to hear her say it finally (although she only said it in private). Took her two years though.
-I realized that I don't need much 'material' things in life, what I need are things that I can't buy with money. Cliche but it's so true.
-Saved gas and restaurant $$$
-Side business up ~50% lol (where are people getting their money to buy these things?)
-I baked for the first time in years; ***** my cheesecake is not bad at all
-Talked to my brothers seriously for the first time in a decade. It made me realize how much I regret not making time to see them regularly for the past 15 yrs. I honestly missed being called and being their "kuya"
-Reconnected with some of my old childhood friends in PH. Kinda want to go back to Manila to see them again
-Girl I was seeing before pandemic is now with someone else (I'm 95% sure so far, just need final confirmation)...Good. I'd rather be snaked at year 1.5 than year 2. I just wished she would've just been honest with me. But oh well. Not hurt as much as I thought I'd be, I don't know why.
-Friends that truly care about you will reach out to you when you least expect them. Finally saw who truly were my 'friends' and how many are just 'acquaintances'. And made me realize how much time I was actually allocating to said acquaintances in the past, vs. the time I should've invested on real friends. I will prioritize accordingly moving forward.
-Realized how amazing my life is. Family, friends, etc losing houses, businesses, careers, marriages (some their sanity) thanks to this pandemic, yet I'm in holding pattern and lots of new doors opening up left and right. I didn't understand why I was depressed there for a minute. You gotta count your blessings instead of narrowing your vision on the small negative bumps in life that will matter very little in the future.

What are your unexpected COVID blessings?

More on personal enhancement yung sakin.

Since 2018 to March 2020 this year, parang 30-45k a month ang expenses ko either because of flights and tourism or because I just buy expensive stuff for no real reason.

My all time low sa credit card is 7,500 pesos, and it was April this year.

There's a lot of sale going on to revive their establishments. You do not have to buy sh}t for the next three years cause of your last purchase binge.

Unexpected Positive Things Did You Realize or Occurred In Your Life Due to Pandemic/Lockdown?

    1. Backup resources grow each passing day.
    2. More time to sit and learn new applications. Summer Sale Prices are now up.
    3. Groceries are free (except meats). We get notices from my kids' school every week for Food Drives.
    4. Working at home is effective, so long as the hardware matches the requirement. No need to drive out. I just ZOOM with HR and co-workers for about an hour in the afternoon - it's more like a social thing but work is being discussed and assigned with estimated timeline appropriately.
    5. More free time to tinker on my on-going projects.
    6. More time with wife and kids.
    7. Lots of nap time. LOL!

     :)

Yah I bought 5 pairs of dress shoes for price of 1. I'm buying polo shirts and short sleeve for summer a bunch of them for less than 200.

Honestly though, I like working mostly from home (and I get to go to the office once a week) but I can't stand Zoom meetings. Whether it's church, class, work or friends. I'm just done with it for the rest of the year. lol

There's nothing to like about it as it cuts in to productive time. But thank goodness that it's not forever and it's just chatting with my super and HR just to confirm that I'm actually doing work instead of watching PornHub and clarify what "needs to be done" as well as "already been done". Overall, I have no complaints whatsoever as there are a lot of ppl right now who would kill just to get back to work and get paid.

1000% agree, still doesn't keep me from disliking the whole thing. It feels so impersonal. lol
Course for this semester I'm taking for example, is 10x harder than it should be because of the logistics of learning through video.
But I understand what you're saying though: better than nothing and it's safer than the alternative.

    1. More time for gardening. And to be in the garden  when the garden looks its best, early morning and around 5pm when  the sun is down but it's not yet dark.
    2. Savings, didn't have to buy gas for about 3 months, no dining out, no clothes purchases.
    3. More time to listen to informative videos in YT.
    4. Appreciate our neighborhood .

About three weeks ago, first time kong pumunta uli ng Corniche after several months. I didn't expect it to be full of people, as in mas marami pa ata kesa sa normal na mga araw dati.

And the sight of people walking carefree, hindi naka-mask (may directive after nung Eid holiday na pwede daw walang mask kung mag-eexercise ka), at enjoying the outdoors - bigla akong naoverwhelm. Pinigilan ko talaga na maiyak but I teared up.

There's something it about that was so moving. And then 3 months after, to see them out and about, I fought back tears while walking along the Corniche.

Mixed feelings kasi alam mong magkaroon man ng konting normal, things will just go downhill from here. Parang sa isang iglap, we were catapulted into the very edge of the tribulation.

During the hard lock down months, I was able to fight my temptation of trying to watch any American series on Netflix. American Netflix series and shows are cesspools of subtle indoctrination of young people on leftist and "woke" politics.

If anything, either we take things in stride, make adjustments, cope or roll with the punches or die.

This is just a nasty temporary thing we're going throug.  You all know we're going back to the old old ways once a covid19 vaccine is developed right?
