I don't know if this is toxic but my heart is really torn between the local government stopping the taal victim to enter the danger zone. yet the those people insisted to enter. hindi kasi maaalis Lalo nat sanay na ngwowork ang mga tao doon at hindi umaasa sa bigay ng gobyerno. panu kung 1 yr pa sila sa evacuation center lahat magsisiksikan na sa manila para makahanap ng work.

Some people tend to shame and look down on some because they "think" they can't but in reality, it's not part of them. It has never been. And they think it's a problem. It is not.

They think it's jealousy. How can they think that when they do not live their lives? And is honestly not affected by that poverty/ rich culture.

Typical pinoy mindset like my pain in the ***** sister in law, Pag may pera madami gastos ng gastos kahit may sakit si father in law, at pag medical emergency naghahanap ng pera at kukulitin kami to shell out money as help to finance the said emergency kahit sya pa ang nag sabi na mag tipid kami kasi need ng tulong for medicine samantala sya ang dami pinagbibili appliances when she had lots of money. At pag pumalag ka at say no since we have other financial priorities mag eemotional blackamailing ang gagawin. Yan ang toxic filipino culture "Pasarap muna bago tiis at mahilig mag emotional blackmail"

    LOL....

I'm not surpirsed nga ng makaka usap ako ng mga Westerners, most Pinoy immigrants daw against sa immigration (unless kamag-anak which is isang buong baranggay din. lol), ayaw daw nila silang dumami dun kung nasan sila. Pinoy unity at its finest. hehe.
I want to have a powerful passport para ma respect. In your face immigration, this is my passport. lol

  • Children, someday, are at awe of giving back to their parents as if it is mandated by the law.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against giving back to parents. However, it should be done voluntarily and not by external pressure.

^ VOLUNTARY AS IT SHOULD BE.

But a lot of Pinoys live and die of what other people tell them. So let them die of envy and doubt.

/not my life to live. lol.
  • to be fair (and no offense), this issue on 'mendicant parents' is only prevalent among the lower classes, which unfortunately still make up majority of our population

sa upper classes, baliktad.  up to 3rd generation or even more, sa pera naman ng matriarch/patriarch umaasa ang angkan, i.e. 'family wealth'
  • sa middle class, case-to-case.  some were able to prepare for retirement, others were not.  but most likely, majority if not all of their children were able graduate from good schools/programs that led to good and successful careers as well.  kaya naubos pera kase edukasyon inuna

derpor, kaya na paghatian ng mga anak anuman kelanganin ng magulang in the future, with minimal prodding or difficulty

sa lower classes kase baliktad.  buhat buong angkan ng kaisa-isa (or dalawang) umasenso, the classic 'breadwinner' mentality. WTF

  • but apparently, this situation is changing (improving?) as well

more and more from the D class, the true 'masa' because they form bulk of our population, are having just 1 or 2 children, hence current and future (retirement) financial issues have become more manageable

also, if you believe the numbers, there are now less and less poorest of the poor E.  per latest data, below 20% na raw poverty incidence sa bansa and will further decelerate in the next few years, leading to less and less poor people in a decade or so

hence, these 'medicant parents' may become more extinct in our lifetime.  after all, tayo na yung mga retirees by then. and if asa ren tayo sa mga anak natin when that time comes, ano naman ang nirereklamo natin ngayon LOL

one good reason to leave the country is our terrible geography.  very disaster-prone.  terrible for economic and personal security.  if you can transfer to a much better-placed and less disaster-prone country, why not?

They invest as early as now for their retirement so as to avoid the vicious cycle of sandwich gen.

Nung unang panahon kasi, nag-aanak ng madami ang mga magulang para my "Return of Investment" someday.

^ Agree. In many respects, mas maayos naman talaga ang generation natin compared to our parents. :giggle:
