Do you think the world will be a better place if there is no luxury goods or services?

Sa tingin niyo the world will be a better place kung walang luxury goods or services?

It doesn’t matter if the rich person buys luxuries or not. If they want to share with the impoverished, they will share. Besides, the wealthy are not the only ones that can help. You and I can help too. It doesn’t have to be much. It adds up. So don’t make excuses and make it all about the rich people. They cannot solve the world’s problems.

The problem with this thinking is:

    1. The sense of entitlement - na kung anong meron sya, dapat meron din ako. Na entitled ako dito. Na "I was born to enjoy it all". Ito ang flaw ng leftist thinking - they forget that we still live in an imperfect world, a fallen world, at karamihan ay hindi libre sa mundo. Ang mga bagay ay pinaghihirapan.

The genius of the American Founding Fathers and the drafters of their constitution and Bill of Rights, is that they guarantee people's right to freedom (free speech, to bear arms, to have your own opinion, to own private property, to pursue your dreams). Yun ang basic rights ng tao. Pwede kang maging singer or plumber or taga-gawa ng cupcakes at walang sinumang pwedeng pumigil sayo na gawin ang mga ito. Seizing other people's property, however, is NOT a right. Wag tayo masyadong feeling entitled.

    2. Envy - again the problem with leftist thinking. Ang 10th commandment ay wag i-covet ang property ng ibang tao. Kung gusto mo nito, magsumikap ka. Magbanat ka ng buto.

Ngayon kung despite all your efforts eh medyo sablay pa rin, marami kang titingnan dyan: (a) government - ginagawa ba ng gobyerno ang trabaho nila na gawing conducive to business and living ang lugar through urban planning and implementation of laws? (b) yung kalaban mo ba sa negosyo ay playing fair at hindi cinicircumvent ang batas o iniimpluwensyahan ang gobyerno for his advantage? Kapag ganyan, may right kang magreklamo. Pero kung ang kalaban mo follows the rules of the game, beke nemen talagang mahina lang ang products and services mo at kailangan mo pang-iimprove ito.

    3. The thinking that these luxuries do not have a ripple effect on other people - I believe in Reagan's trickle-down economics. Ang mga luxuries na yan ng mga richie rich, napupunta din yan sa mga mahihirap - sa mga contractors at workers na gumawa ng yacht o penthouses nila. Mas ok na imbes direktang binibigay ang pera sa mga tao, you give them dignity by letting them work for it.

Kaya nasisira ang Amerika at nasasaksihan na natin ang takipsilim ng Amerika at mukhang pabagsak na nga ito kasi nga people are so dependent on welfare and have come to view as a RIGHT not as a privilege.

And one more thing: the concept of INCENTIVE. In our fallen nature, and in this fallen world, ang driver talaga dapat ng ekonomiya ay INCENTIVE. Gusto mong bumenta ang products mo? Make it better! Gusto mong makakuha ng mataas na grades? Study harder! Ganern.

Kasi wala namang incentive.

That's why Stalinist Russia failed. That's why Communist China had to transition to a market-driven economy. That's why Venezuela failed. That's why Zimbabwe saw a 5BILLION% inflation under Mugabe's indigenization policies. Cuba, Bolivia..the list is endless...and stacked against socialism.

The left like to think that people are beyond incentive, and that we can create a world economy that is not incentive-driven. Little do they know na darating ang araw na magkukumahog silang magpa-implant ng chip sa noo o sa kamay nila just to have a morsel of bread.

Parang mga vegans lang yan eh, feeling nila morally superior sila for not eating animals.

Of course, gooseberry. Weightier matters such as humanities, economics, and the nature of reality would bore people like you.
