Joshua and Janella, or JoshNella, stars in the ABS-CBN's Primetime teleserye The Killer Bride, which co-stars them with Geoff Eigenmann and Maja Salvador as the title-roler. The Killer Bride premiered on August 12, 2019 which airs Monday to Friday after The General's Daughter (as of August 17).
JoshNella served as the series' main young loveteam, taking on the roles of Emma Bonaobra (Janella) and Elias Sanchez (Joshua). As of this writing, the JoshNella loveteam is still an experimental one and soon shall become an official tandem by ABS-CBN. Both Joshua and Janella are talents of Star Magic, an ABS-CBN talent arm.

Janella Salvador and Joshua Garcia are first-time co-stars in ‘The Killer Bride.’ ABS-CBN/RCD NarrativesMANILA — A new ship has sailed, at least according to several trends on Twitter Thursday night, during the telecast of ABS-CBN’s gothic romance “The Killer Bride.”
The pairing — or “ship,” as termed by fans — is between first-time co-stars Joshua Garcia and Janella Salvador, who play Elias and Emma in the primetime series.
“The Killer Bride’s” episode on Thursday saw the introduction of their characters, with the mysterious Emma’s arrival in Elias’ hometown of Las Espadas.
Emma, who has been hinted as a vessel of possession by Camila (Maja Salvador), relocated to Las Espadas from Manila for a job as a mortuary makeup artist.Elias, meanwhile, has close ties with the family of Vito dela Cuesta (Geoff Eigenmann), Camila’s former love whose court testimony several years prior resulted in her imprisonment.
Sparks fly immediately on Elias and Emma’s first meeting. To the characters, the attraction appeared instant, and to fans, the chemistry between the actors, palpable.
During and well after the episode, several terms related to “The Killer Bride” and its newly introduced cast members ranked among the trending topics on Twitter.
Aside from the official hashtag of the episode, which topped the list, “Janella,” “Elias,” “Emma,” “JoshNella,” and “Las Espadas” also became trends.
‘RIGHT TIME’ FOR JOSHNELLA
Joshua Garcia and Janella Salvador share a light moment during a recent press conference for ‘The Killer Bride.’ ABS-CBN NewsGarcia and Salvador, in an earlier interview, agreed that “The Killer Bride” marks the formation of a new love team, following their respective onscreen tandems.
Garcia has starred in 4 films and a teleserye with Julia Barretto, his former girlfriend, in just 3 years; while Salvador was paired with Elmo Magalona, her former boyfriend, in a TV series and 2 movies.
While Garcia and Salvador owe their popularity, in part, to “JoshLia” and “ElNella,” respectively, the two said getting paired with a different star will benefit their careers and contribute to their growth as actors.
“This is the right time for us, and I’m happy,” Garcia previously said.
Garcia and Salvador noted that they had been given numerous projects meant to pair them, which ultimately would not push through, to give way to their more tested, respective love teams at the time.
Garcia and Salvador are both no longer attached to their onscreen partners.
Garcia’s breakup with Barretto has been the subject of controversy in the last two months, while Salvador and Magalona have been separated for a year.

Sa serye, ginagampanan ni Joshua ang karakter ni Elias Sanchez na nakilala ang bagong dayo sa Las Espadas na si Emma Bonaobra (Janella).
Nagpasalamat din ulit si Maja sa netizens sa muling pagti-trend ng kanilang serye nitong Huwebes ng gabi.
Nitong Miyerkoles, naging usap-usapan sa online world ang pagkamatay ni Camila, ang karakter na ginagampanan ni Maja.

JOSHNELLA: NEW LOVE TEAM? JOSHUA GARCIA AND JANELLA SALVADOR GEAR UP FOR SENSUAL ROLE
- Joshua Garcia and Janella Salvador team up for an upcoming thriller-romance on ABS-CBN
- Joshua Garcia and Janella Salvador are being paired together for the first time.
On Friday, an official media announcement for The Killer Bride was made, detailing how the project was set for an August premiere under the direction of Dado Lumibao. Joshua and Janella are part of the cast of the new show.
The new team-up comes at a perfect time for both Joshua and Janella. A project for the two had been planned as early as 2016, but none of them ever happened.
“Ako, matagal ko na siyang gusto makatrabaho. Nauudlot lang. Ngayon, I’m very happy na makakatrabaho ko na siya. Matututo ako sa kanya, kung paano siya umarte,” Joshua shared.
Janella is also happy to be working with Joshua. “Ako rin, I’m happy to work with Josh. I want to work with different people. It’s refreshing. And I think it’s healthy, because we get to grow as actors and actresses.”
She added, “Actually, challenging ang role na ‘to for the both of us, kasi ang gusto ni direk, sensual — hindi sexual, ha! It’s a bit more mature than kung ano ‘yung mga nagagawa ko before.”
Janella will play the role of Emma who claims to have been possessed by the ghost of Camilla, portrayed by Maja Salvador.
Meanwhile, Joshua plays Elias, who doubts Emma but finds himself drawn to the mysterious woman.
“‘Yung challenge din doon ‘yung may nararamdaman kami sa isa’t-isa, pero kailangan hindi namin ipakita sa isa’t-isa. Ano ba ang sikreto ng babae na ‘to? May galit ako, pero may love pa rin para sa kanya,” Joshua said.
The two may have no major project together until The Killer Bride, but they have already been dubbed by a number of fans online as “JoshNella.”
“We’re happy, kasi may sumu-support, e. May makita ka lang kahit kaunting suporta… ‘Pag artista ka kasi, ‘pag nakita mong sumuporta sa ‘yo, kahit gaano pa kakaunti ‘yan, gaganahan ka talaga mag trabaho. Gagawin mo ‘yun para sa kanila.”
“It makes it more exciting na ‘pag lumabas na ‘yung show, excited kami na mapakita kung ano ‘yung pinag trabahuhan namin,” Janella added.

“Dapat hindi natatapos ang dream n’yo. Open pa rin kayo to work with other actors, ‘yun po,” saad ni Joshua na halatang malungkot ang mga mata o dahil pagod dahil kararating lang galing ng San Francisco, USA, kung saan ginanap ang ASAP by the Bay nitong weekend.
Alam naman ng lahat na malabong magtambal sa ngayon sina Joshua at Julia Barreto dahil hiwalay na sila at ang huli nilang tambalan ay ang pelikulang Block Z mula sa Star Cinema na idinirek ni Mikhail Red.
Natanong ang aktor kung challenging ba na may bago siyang ka-loveteam sa The Killer Bride.
JoshNella na ang pangalan ng loveteam ng dalawa.
“Yes, at first siyempre challenging kasi nag-a-adjust pa (kami) pareho, thankful ako sa unit (RCD Narratives) namin kasi hindi kami pinababayaan. Nagbigay sila ng workshop for us (kasama si Janella) para hindi na kami ma-challenge sa isa’t isa, hindi na kami ma-intimidate, hindi na kami mahirapang i-execute ‘yung mga eksena together and sa role ko as Elias,” kuwento ni Joshua.
Gaano kalapit ang karakter niyang Elias sa tunay niyang buhay?
“Very, very protective. Like si Janella ro’n sa soap (TKB), protective rin ako sa kanya. Kasi parang binu-bully siya ro’n at the same time, ayoko rin ng ginagawa niya kasi nagsisinungaling siya,” saad ng aktor.
Nabanggit pa na tulad ng role niya, very protective rin siya sa mga magulang at ayaw niya sa sinungaling at manloloko.
“Yes sa family ko and to myself,” sabi ni Joshua.
Samantala, nakangiting ikinuwento ni Joshua na tinanong daw sila ng direktor nila kung game sila sa kissing scenes ni Janella.
“Oo, yes, game kami. Game ka ba?” sabay tanong sa aktres.
“Game kami, pero ‘yung love scene, wala pa kami sa stage na gano’n, sa kissing scene muna,” pahayag ng aktor.
Sinegundahan naman din ng dalaga na kung kailangan sa istorya ay gagawin niya ito at panahon na rin naman para sa ganitong eksena.
Ilang araw na lang at mapapanood na ang The Killer Bride sa ABS-CBN at sa ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167).

JoshNella's missed projects
Some may not know, but Joshua and Janella were supposed to have worked together in three projects but unfortunately, did not push through (aw!). Here are those 3 projects:
Born For You (2015)
Joshua was supposed to form love triangle with Janella and Elmo that time, but due to still unknown reasons, Joshua was pulled out from the series. The primetime teleserye did push through however, minus Joshua (replaced by Kit Thompson). Rumor has it that Joshua was pulled out to do another project which was Barcelona: A Love Untold.
Vince and Kath and James (2016)
Janella was the original choice to play the role of Kath in the MMFF 2016 movie. However due to certain reasons, Janella begged off from the project and was eventually replaced by Julia Barretto. The movie pushed through and turned out to be a blockbuster hit fortunately. But sadly, it was not Janella who played the part (aw again!). Rumor has it that Janella begged off from the project because of her then partnership with Elmo that time.
Kung Kailangan Mo Ako (2017)
For the second time, Joshua, Janella and Elmo were pitched to do the supposed primetime series starring the three of them along with an ensemble of cast. There even was a story conference made for the project and was included as well in the 2017 ABS-CBN Summer Trade Launch. However, due to certain reasons, Janella and Elmo were pulled-out/backed-out from the project. Rumor has it that the main reason for the loveteam's back-out was the script's total revision. Later on, the title of the series was changed to The Good Son highlighting the show's young male characters led by Joshua and the supposed roles of ElNella was revised and replaced by Loisa Andalio and Jerome Ponce.
