Surprised we only have 4 bigs instead of the usual 5. Chot sticked to his 3 PG lineup even without Romeo on the lineup.

I guess we'll see Abueva at 4 against Japan.
They have 3 6'9"s. Their next big is 6'6" and their naturalized player stands @ 6'4". Saka speed ang laban sa Asian level.

    Atsuya Ota (6'9")
    Joji Takeuchi (6'9")
    Kosuke Takeuchi (6'9")

    Tenketsu Harimoto (6'6")
    Yudai Baba (6'5")
    Naoya Kumagae (6'5")
    Ira Brown (6'4")

    Blatche (6'11")
    Fajardo (6'10")
    Aguilar (6'9")

    Rosario (6'7")
    Norwood (6'5")
    Abueva (6'2"),
    Wright (6'4")
    Maliksi (6'4")

    Almazan is injured ata..

So Belo, Almazan and CBC were cut (Romeo injured).

My assumption is on Monday versus CT we can again change the lineup right?
So CBC for Abueva for example is possible.

Question. For the next game, is it necessary that the roster will be coming from the 23/16 man pool? Or is it a new set of 23-man pool? Coz I'm thinking Blatche may not be available at all games and we don't have a backup naturalized player to "maximize" the rules

Dun sa first set, permanent na yun 12. Pero sa next set sa February, another fresh set of 24 yan. Ganun rin sa June. Ang logic is to ensure that any injury that may happen to the members of the pool can easily be replaced. Pero by clusters lang ang palitan.

In another front, Russia and Turkey have backed out from the hosting of the 2023 World Cup, giving our group (JPN, INO, PHL) a greater chance of winning the bid. The remaining contender is the contingent from URU and ARG collaboration. While it would appear that we'd be the odds on favourites to win the bid, don't count out the South Americans. China will be the last host (2019) and FIBA officials may say it's unwise to have the meet conducted back to back at Asia. But the good news is that Russia and Turkey seemed to have the best chance of winning the hosting chores.

Chot made the small ball move not just because he's more confident when having 3 point guards in his team but also because JPN and CT are not that tall anyway. He's still looking for the speed factor to outrun the two East Asian teams, but won't find a problem not having too many bigs in the middle. When we meet Australia on February and June, there'd be a greater need for more bigs - maybe Slaughter would be available; plus more shooters - hopefully Marcio?

If SMC wants to make bawi sa mga fans sa pinag gagawa nila sa pba, they better lend their players, greg and marcio, if possible si sanggalang na din sa Gilas come january and june..

We have been playing the Takeuchi twins and Ota for years. Si Joji lang naman talaga ang legit big nila na magaling but they have lots of perimeter gunners.

So Japan submitted their 12 man lineup 4 days before the match while we Gilas submitted our own 12 man hours ago.

Wow New Zealand is 0-3 against Korea, and they lost right at their home turf.

It is for Gilas to loose against Japan. We'll base sa line up talagang nag match up lang si Chot sa speed ng Japan but don't forget our bigs also are agile plus the fact that I think nobody in Japan could stop Andray Blatche.
Plus our shooters ang guard can stand toe to toe with the full arsenal of Japan. Also if Castro can bring his A-game again,I will repeat it's Gilas to loose against Japan.

I feel that we have the best chance now to host the 2023 FIBA World Cup.They were very impressed on how Filipino fans are passionate when it comes to basketball and that gigantic Philippine Arena can also spell the difference.

May discussion sila Magoo, TJ Manotoc at Carlo Pamintuan sa Twitter.
Apparently the home and away format is like an 80-minute game. Winning the first game doesn't guarantee "2 points" like in football.
In case the first game is tied, there's no OT. Tapos a win (lets say by 5) will just mean
we're up by 5 come the second game.
Weird. Nobody talked about this before. Dunno if the coaching staff is aware of such format (dapat alam nila).
Interesting scenario ahead of tonight's game.
  • darknight10darknight10 Member PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐
LOL so parang football na "first half" lang ang game na to. I don't like it. A win should merit "1 point" to the winning team and a lose gets nothing. It should either be 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2.

It'll be weird for the 2nd game (our home game) kung from the get go eh lamang na sila ng 10 for example.

Sa tingin ko para yan sa tie breaker like placings esp for teams with the same W-L record at malamang para na rin sa 7th and 8th spot.

May isang nag clarify (a certain Enzo) sa twitter, that rule applies to some other competitions
like Champions League or something. It will not apply daw sa WCQ.
