When I first learned that I have hypertension/diabetes/high cholesterol

Hi all! I am trying to look for an inspiration for a project I am working for for a friend who was recently diagnosed with diabetes.

We read about reactions to being diagnosed with more severe, life-threatening conditions like cancer or injury all over social media, but one's feelings about being diagnosed with chronic, lifestyle-changing, not-necessarily-life-threatening, manageable but life-long diseases like high blood, diabetes, high cholesterol and the like are not. So, this is mainly to gather some stories on your experiences when you were first told that you have these conditions, whether positive or not. What went through your mind? What did you think or feel? What did you do initially to cope?

Thank you.
