Magic Land nina Peque Gallaga at Lore Reyes, inihahanda para sa MMFF 2019

by PEP Troika posted on November 13, 2018

    IMAGE SCREEN CAP FROM WAKAS

(Seen in the photo are Direk Lore and Direk Peque.)

    IMAGE @MIGGSCUADERNO ON INSTAGRAM

Sabi pa ni Congressman Albie sa plano niyang mag-co-produce in the future:

    IMAGE GORGY RULA

(Seen in the photo are (L-R) Lolit Solis, Pat-P Daza, Congressman Albee Benitez, and Julie Yap-Daza.)

Albee.

Kaya pagkatapos nitong Magic Land, asahang marami pang pelikulang gagawin ni Cong. Albee.

    Magicland rises in the South

ALL-FILIPINO – Yes, a theme park called Magicland will rise in the South, hopefully before the year is over. And what is wonderful about Magicland is it’s an all-Filipino endeavor headed by Negros Occidental Congressman Alfredo B. Benitez, simply Albee to friends.

    4benitez copy

Upon the invitation of colleague Lolit Solis, some members of the entertainment media had a sumptuous lunch at Pio’s in QC for an informal tete-a-tete with Albee, who said that construction of Magicland has started last year in Silay, a few minutes away from Bacolod. Albee said the Bacolod airport is actually in Silay, noted for its heritage homes.

Director Peque Gallaga, distinguished son of Bacolod, and his staff are behind the creation of Filipino mythical and folk creatures to be used in the theme park.

RIDES, RIDES, RIDES – Magicland features at least 15 rides, expected to arrive by March this year, coming from all over the world.

One ride costs at least $3million, more or less R150 million. Multiply the amount by 15. Total budget of Magicland is over one billion pesos.

But surely kids (and even adults) will enjoy Magicland. Those from the Visayas and Mindanao don’t have to fly to Manila to enjoy a day or two in amusement centers.

Albee said in time Magicland will branch out to movies, just like Disneyland.

Among these films, Joshua Garcia’s Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan has already started principal photography before the enhanced community quarantine.

Currently, film outfits are slowly resuming production, which was halted because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April 2020, MMFF put on hold its first summer film festival called the Metro Manila Summer Film Festival, with eight entries to be shown in cinemas.

There’s no official announcement yet on the next steps.

      by PEP Troika
Una nang naanunsiyo na ang first four films ng MMFF 2020 ay The Exorcism of My Siszums nina Toni at Alex Gonzaga; Praybeyt Benjamin 3 ni Vice Ganda; Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan ni Joshua Garcia; at Magikland ni Miggs Cuaderno.

      NOEL FERRER:

This ensures that the biggest, the most popular, and the longest-running Filipino film festival will be happening everywhere—recreating happy traditions and experiencing MMFF beyond-the-movies—together with the whole family.

But here are some important announcements sa mga gustong sumali pa sa finished film entries.

Acknowledging the challenges ng film shooting ngayon, the deadline for finished film submission is moved from October 15 to November 15.

Samantalang ang finished films based on the approved scripts ay may bagong deadline from October 31 to November 30.

This will give producers and filmmakers more time na puliduhin pa ang kanilang entries.

They just have to fill out the forms for resubmission.

At least, with the online festival, na-solve na iyung unequal distribution ng cinemas before.

Wala rin akong balita sa The Exorcism of My Siszums.

PPP4 offers several festival subscription options. The Full Run Pass (PHP 599) grants a 16-day access to the Premium Selection films and events, free content, free panel sessions/workshops, calendar, and trailers.

The Half Run Pass (PHP 299) provides access to the short films library and full-length scheduled screenings for eight consecutive days.

The Day Pass (PHP 99) gives access to the short films library and full-length scheduled screenings for one day.

The Early Bird Rate for the Full Run Pass, priced at PHP 450, is available until October 15.

There is also a Free Pass that provides access to the calendar and free content.

Beginning October 16, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) can avail of a 20% discount while students will get to enjoy a 30% discount.
