Yes. My favorite dish. Yung malitid na laman ng baka. We usually buy the knee cap  instead of the oxtail. For the peanut butter I like to use Lily's.

Bakit puro pagkain topic ngayon?

kare kare is my most fave dish, gusto ko yung may tuwalya.

With this dish, I only just care about some of the sauce + bagoong and the vegetables. I usually ask for fried fish to pair with it. Dedma ako sa meat. Weird, I know.

have you tried fish kare kare? my mom usually prepares that, rather than having beef. Masarap din. :)

^ As in fish lang? I don't think so. Sa seafood kare-kare, I know there's fish fillet there + mussels, scallops, squid, shrimp.... Gutom na ko 😳😂

^ seafood kare-kare is already a fushion dish. just like the crispy pata ([pork) kare-kare. it only shows kare-kare is not a delicious dish because people keeps making new tastier variety. if it is really that good, we would be craving for the original recipe.

our kare-kare is must have goto (intestines), tuwalya (tripe), batok (nape) and buntot (ox tail). the goto and tuwalya provides the fat or lardy but are bland, the batok is like a firm jelly and the butot is what gives it meaty texture. but, it is so peasant because it is a stew and you are forced to use your hands to eat the bony tail to get the meat.

now majority of the kare kare are made out of beef cuts with tripe.

IMHO one of the important part of a Kare-Kare dish is a good bagoong. If the bagoong is not good, even if kare kare is good then IMHO it will be a lackluster dish.

if it's delectable, it is delectable... no matter how creative chefs are in making their own dashing fusions and versions.

i can hardly believe that fusions make a dish "kitsch" to some picky-eaters. LOL.

hay naku ..... mga probinsyano talaga hindi alam kung ano ang totoong kare kare. you can not judge a dish if you are basing it on a fusion dish.

  • pong_padourpong_padour Member ✭✭✭
Ok ginoogle ko tuloy tanong ko.

There are several stories as to the origins of kare-kare. ... They called it kari-kaari, curry, and now, kare-kareKare-kare is a well-known dish in Pampanga, which is often hailed as the culinary capital of the Philippines. Its name derived from the word "kari" from the word "curry".

Kumain tuloy ako ng kare-kare kahapon sa Fely J's lol And I had the real kare-kare according to gotta lick it. Ok naman. I still wished there were some seafood in there

Nope.

What if timplahin nalang kasama ang alamang para may tamang alat.
