kung sakaling may friend or naging classmate kayo na sumisikat na, isisiksik mo ba sarili mo sa kanya? like ime-mention or ita-tag mo na lagi si famous friend sa mga post mo para malaman ng tao na naging friend/classmate mo sya?

I have never done that... Meron akong classmates sa HS at childhood friends na very successful, pinagmamalaki ko pa nga eh. Puro anak din naman sila ng Heneral. Yung isa ay Pilot from Omni Aviation Flying School, I think graduate siya sa Makati Science. Son of former AFP Chief. Yung isa naman, the smartest person that I know personally, he passed PMA exam, AdMU Medicine, U.P Manila Medicine, he got full scholarship from St.Lukes. If my memory serves me right, when we were 3rd year High school, his lowest score sa exams ay 47/50, wala akong matandaan na nakukuha siya ng 46/50. Sa Geometry, he got perfect score 50/50. Son of retired 3 star General. We are both Final Fantasy fan. Very humble.

^ Before you can even ask me anything, matuto ka munang umintindi sa thread topic at sumagot nang tama. Bobo.

OnT: I won't do that. Kasi corny and papansin. If he or she were my friend still, I won't need social media validation for it.

Nope, kasi we choose people in our lives naman to stay or not. Dapat mutual decision.

Stella, I would say privileged ang kakilala mo. May batchmate ako nung highschool, he ranked 3rd in PMA, passed La salle, Ateneo and UP Diliman. Ang nakakalungkot pa, hindi niya natapos ang course niyang engineering due to lack of funds, kaya nag seaman, Magna cum laude from MAAP. He is humble like yong kilala mo pero I have big respect sa kanya. I know if he was only given a better opportunity, he could have likely outshined those who came from a more privileged class.

Sabi nga ng dad ko, when he found out he passed the PMA exam, he stopped doing the projects, assignments at hindi na siya pumasok, he was completing the requirements for the cadetship na sa PMA,.

Why? Aren't you secure with yourself and your life? lol.

It's very leech-y and too shallow aka showbiz. Not my cup of tea.

Speaking of privilege, I remember the article I've read from Rappler that discusses this topic and they do have a point this time . Here's the link: https://www.rappler.com/move-ph/ispeak/108541-privilege-filipino-society.

    Relate naman ako dito.

I have a friend who's been famous in the Visayan category of social media celebrities, if not the most famous among them. I'm referring to Medyo Maldito if nobody knows him.

Rubbing myself deliberately to catch some of his hard-earned popularity has never crossed my mind. Maybe at some low points in my life, I felt envious about the achievements his already reached, the perks he gets or the some of the already reputable names he has rubbed elbows, so on and so forth. Most enviable point I had with him probably would be when him, along with some of the known Asian  social media celebrities like Lloyd Cadena, got their own special program last  year in National Geographic Channel.

You can search about his videos and he might look famewhorish or cringy in some of them, but I guess one can't help hopping into roles and experiences to get to the endgoal and that is to always maintain a healthy amount of acitivity and shareability in Facebook.

He rose to fame particularly in the Cebuano-speaking territories with other hopeful influencers who already had a sizable army of followers aready, but I think he's the only one remaining famous to this day, the rest of them already has gone back to their normal lives.

I admire him. He is a genuinely good person, and a people person as well and maybe that's why he's still remained popular among his contemporaries. Back in high school, he already had a large network of friends being that he's a talented dancer as well, aside from joining the school choir. Belongs to the regular class and not the handsomest of the boys, but has tons of charisma and authenticity.

I am not active in social media and right now in a place where talking about him would make no sense.
It makes me happy he gets to greet me every year on my birthday thru private message(and one of the reasons I keep my account, aside from my high school section FB group of friends to update with each other's lives) and add in green jokes, then wait for the next birthday again. That only attests to his being real and down to earth.

To add,  it's better  to carve your own path. Some people become famous or linchpins in their fields because that's what they are passionate about or somehow already natural to them. For the friend of mine that I mentioned above, the only difference is that he has become "famous" connecting with people(a derivative to making friends).

I noticed with the trend of influencers becoming popular in last year or two or three, some people also did the same, but they all looked too trying hard, and barely packaged themselves to look admirable. Just because you can post pick-up lines doesn't make you an instant hit, you got to deliver the goods in the long term.

Timing is important. It's almost impossible to break ground on something that's already saturated and at the same time satiating on it's consumers.

Create your own name. Much better, create something that don't need anyone's validation. Be happy for the one's that have found their success, and don't even think about riding onto theirs, you might miss your own.
