    ANOTHER LIE OF THE POPE!

    Revelation 21:8
    ESV

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

All acts of the Pope clearly shows that he is the man of lawlessness in the prophesy:

    2 Thessalonians 2:3

    New International Version
Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

Pope Francis assures atheists: You don’t have to believe in God to go to heaven

    by Michael Day

    Pope Francis

In comments likely to enhance his progressive reputation, Pope Francis has written a long, open letter to the founder of La Repubblica newspaper, Eugenio Scalfari, stating that non-believers would be forgiven by God if they followed their consciences.

Responding to a list of questions published in the paper by Mr Scalfari, who is not a Roman Catholic, Francis wrote: “You ask me if the God of the Christians forgives those who don’t believe and who don’t seek the faith. I start by saying – and this is the fundamental thing – that God’s mercy has no limits if you go to him with a sincere and contrite heart. The issue for those who do not believe in God is to obey their conscience.

“Sin, even for those who have no faith, exists when people disobey their conscience.”

Robert Mickens, the Vatican correspondent for the Catholic journal The Tablet, said the pontiff’s comments were further evidence of his attempts to shake off the Catholic Church’s fusty image, reinforced by his extremely conservative predecessor Benedict XVI. “Francis is a still a conservative,” said Mr Mickens. “But what this is all about is him seeking to have a more meaningful dialogue with the world.”

In a welcoming response to the letter, Mr Scalfari said the Pope’s comments were “further evidence of his ability and desire to overcome barriers in dialogue with all”.

In July, Francis signalled a more progressive attitude on sexuality, asking: “If someone is gay and is looking for the Lord, who am I to judge him?”

Clearly, you lifted the above from a non-Catholic source  =)

Here's what a Real Catholic source said....

    4) What did Pope Francis actually say about atheists and salvation?

    Here is the passage:

First of all, you ask if the God of the Christians forgives those who do not believe and do not seek faith.

Given that—and this is fundamental—God's mercy has no limits if he who asks for mercy does so in contrition and with a sincere heart, the issue for those who do not believe in God is in obeying their own conscience.

In fact, listening and obeying it, means deciding about what is perceived to be good or to be evil.

The goodness or the wickedness of our behavior depends on this decision.

In this passage, you’ll note that after introducing the topic of salvation, Pope Francis begins by saying God’s mercy has no limits “if he who asks for mercy does so in contrition and with a sincere heart.”

This statement appears to apply to believers—the ones you would expect to ask God for mercy with contrition, etc.

Pope Francis then pivots to discuss “the issue for those who do not believe in God.”

He says that for them “the issue” is following their conscience, which will result in good behavior.

This is what the press, etc., have been interpreting as him saying that they can be saved.

But he doesn’t actually say that.

Believers also need to follow their conscience, and doing so will result in them having right behavior. But if they don’t follow their consciences then they sin and need to ask for mercy with contrition and a sincere heart.

What are atheists supposed to do if they don’t follow their consciences?

  • as if real atheists care about heaven or hell.

does god's love and mercy work differently from ours? isnt he more loving and merciful than us? if so then we can reasonably predict that god will love and be merciful to good people who sincerely believes he does not exist!

rangur*gurl, God is indeed loving and merciful and this He showed these by giving us His only begotten Son to save us from eternal damnation.

    John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Jesus Christ was sent to us to be our Lord and Messiah. By being our Lord, WE SHOULD OBEY ALL HIS TEACHINGS AND COMMANDMENTS based on God's original teachings and commandments.

Jesus INFORMED AND COMMANDED us to ENTER His body or church for it is His church that He will save:

    John 10:9
    New Living Translation
Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.

THESE ARE ALL TAUGHT TO US from the Holy Scriptures. We, men, CANNOT DO IT OUR OWN WAY. You cannot say that you know what is good, because you don't! You have to believe Christ and to believe Him, you must listen first to His true gospel, understand them and accept them. Repent in all the wrongdoings that you did before you knew the truth and then get baptized in the True Church!

    Acts 2:38
    New Living Translation
Peter replied, "Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then can they call on the One they have not believed in? Andhow can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hearwithout someone to preach? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”…

Nobody really knows or will know if non-believers will indeed enter the kingdom of God. But do remember that Jesus Himself used a non-believer in one of His parables. So there is indeed a big possibility that non-believers who performs good deeds could indeed enter the kingdom of God.

But again, nobody really knows since no one could fathom how big God's love and mercy for His creations.
