Payag ka ba na galing ka sa apes?
Gift/skills/abilities… lahat daw tayo meron ‘nito. And I would agree. Baket ‘kamo?
Kasi, una, (Genesis 1:26). Hindi ako naniniwala na nawalan na ng idea si God sa creation at ang ginawa niyang pattern ay mga apes. No way! No offense to animal lovers particularly to those who love monkeys. Peace loving citizen po ako. Pero hindi talaga ako papayag na ang great, great, great ancestors natin ay apes.
Second thing, it was also stated by God in Genesis 1:26, let’s look into the NIV version as follows:
“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
God’s very purpose of creating us in His own image and likeness is “to rule” a.k.a. “to lead”… take note of the phrase “so that” – “so that they may rule over…” Ganito katindi ang pagtitiwala na ibinigay ni God sa atin, along with his pronouncement na “let them rule” kasabay na ibinigay ni Lord yung mga abilities and gifts and skills natin enabling (empowering) us to do (to accomplish) what He wanted us to do.
Yung paggawa or pagsunod sa utos ni Lord is the third thing that we shouldn’t forget kasi, how would you feel kapag nagbigay ka ng regalo sa isang tao na mahal mo, let’s say best friend mo.
Discovering our gifts, developing our gifts, and using them to encourage and help others is also a form of worship, an act of worship. (For more about worship, i wish to share with you my ebook on The Kind of Worship the Father Seeks. Please go to https://tinyurl.com/kindofworship.)
Aside from the text above in Genesis, another proof that we have gifts (take note in plural form) is from Romans 12:6a as follows,
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.” (NLT)
In his grace, in Filipino, “dahil sa grasya ng Diyos” – kusang ibinigay ng Diyos ang mga gifts natin, hindi S’ya napilitan lang.
“But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” (NIV)
18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. (ESV)
18 But you shall remember [with profound respect] the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore (solemnly promised) to your fathers, as it is this day. (Deut 8:18, Amplified Bible)
What do the scriptures tell about who you and I are? One, we are created in God’s image and likeness. Second, He graciously gives us gifts/abilities/skills. Thirdly, in order to lead and enabling us and to produce wealth (both on earth and in heaven) giving glory to Him who created us.
