Having made each other their arch-rival in the region, Uber and Grab now shocked the whole Southeast Asia when shaking hands agreeing on that Uber sold all their assets in Asia-Pacific to their used-to-be main competitor, Grab. Besides, Uber has a stake of 27.5% in Grab.
Following the event, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi from Uber is supposed to make a move to Grabs board as well.

Grab later made a statement saying they (Grab and Uber) are both endeavoring to migrate riders and drivers of Uber in the region, at least in Singapore. There is still some mystery needed to be revealed about how Uber users will transition to Grab. Meanwhile, Uber will keep up their work for two weeks from now.

At the moment Grab is operating in eight South-Asian countries including the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Cambodia. After the Uber take-over by Grab, along with the riding service, Ubereats will also be taken over by Grabfood.
After this significant move, Grab has laid a solid foundation in its way to lead O2O (Online-to-Offline) mobile platform in the region.
