Kasi diba in life there is always a trade off?You cannot have everything you want,lalo na kung hindi ka naman mayaman.Anong trade off(s) ang ginawa niyo para makuha niyo ang priority(ies) or gusto or mga gusto niyo or para makatipid kayo? For ex.,yung mga OFWS ang trade off nila yung malayo sa pamilya nila para makapag abroad sila para gumanda ang buhay nila.Kami kinansel namin yung Netflix para makatipid kami.

    lol. trade offs ko both your examples. Need mag OFW kasi kailangan ng pera tas cancel Netflix, switch sa Hulu kasi mas madaming magandang shows. Hulu pati meron next day episodes so winwin.

    Some trade off ng mga naging decision ko in the past 8 years:

    1. naging stagnant yung career ko. 4 years of no promotion. Had I stayed in SG, I porbably managing a project and has a "manager" in my title. But I'm not really bothered by this kasi hindi ko naman ikayayaman maging manager doon. I'm still doing way better financially here.

    2. Although kasama ko family ko, unlike sa Pinas and SG, we can have yaya or katulong. We cannot do that here. This is getting serious especially I have to travel 70% of my time.

    3. When I took this job 8 years ago, it used to be fun kasi I get to see the world for free. But the trade off is, madaming occasions ang nami-miss ko. I can't volunteer myself sa mga school activities ng mga anak ko, I can't really commit my time to anybody even to my family.

    But I have limited options for now so tyaga tyaga lang muna.
  • Marami:
    • Noong bata ako imbes na maglaro ay tinutulungan ko si Tatay sa kanyang sastre;
    • Noong nag-aaral ako imbes na maglakwatsa at nagsusunog ng kilay sa pag-aaral;
    • Imbes na magpakasarap sa pagkabinata at nag-asawa nang bata upang makagsimula na agad ng pamilya;
    • Imbes na petik sa Pinas ay binunot ang ugat at nakipagsapalaran sa ibang bansa;
    • Ngayon imbes na magpakasarap matulog ay maagang gumising ng 5am upang magbanat ng buto sa gym!
    Kaya sa haba ng panahon ay umunlad ang aking buhay gawa ng mga "trade-offs" na ito! Inuna ko ang hirap bago ang sarap!

    Subukan mong kausapin ang iyong mga amo. Sabihin mo nais mo ng katungkulang di kailangan laging nasa viaje. Kung malaki ang halaga mo sa kumpanyang ito pagbibigyan ka nila. Kung hindi, hanap ka na lang ng ibang kumpanya na may tungkuling di kailangang laging nasa viaje.

    Tulad ng binanggit ko dapat mauna sa buhay iyong pinagkakahalagahan natin.

    parang toy swap sa shopsville. they ask and bargain for your Transformer (original) G1 in exchange for marked up new toy. normally, the toys are marked up more than twice its price.

    if you would insist on a sale, they will offer you a very very dismal price.

    Nakatali ako sa kumpanya ko ngayon tatang. At eto yung core business namin dito, ang bumyahe para sa aming mga kliyente (we're technical support and sales office) as in lahat kami sa opisina ay bumabyahe. Except sa secretary at accountant namin. I tried applying for sales job kasi mga 40-50% lang ang byahe but I lost the position to someone else. Ang gusto ko lang dito, kahit palaging nasa byahe, nasa family ako ng weekend. At pag matumal (lol), may mga weeks na hindi din ako bumabyahe.

    I agree na dapat priority ang family. To make it happen, kelangan ko umuwi ng Pinas at mag restart ng karera.

    Tulad mo nung nagsisimula ka pa lang sa Australia, you had humbling experiences na pinilit mong kinaya para lang hindi makabalik ng Pinas. So I guess this is just my own humbling experience that I have to deal with for the time being.

    marami ako kilalang ganito din, american or pinoy,

    hot na hot sa netflix, para bang anlaki ng nawawala sa budget pag naka netflix, pero kwento naman ng kwneto ng napapanuod nila.:hiya:

    its just $9.99 for HD, plus nkaka stream ka pa sa gadgets and mac mo. $7.99 for basic.

    i cancelled my cable dahil wala naman akong time mag subaybay ng programa sa tv, as my schedule is too erratic.

    so feeling ko mas nasasayng ang cable, and it saved me $50.00...internet lang tinira ko and since malakas ang reception ng tv ko sa antenna, i just watch the local channels na libre...

    kung intl, weather and natl news theres cbs news, and for business bloomberg can also be streamed live, on mac-apple...so ok nako.

    I quit my first love, which is teaching. I knew I was going to miss it and it was my comfort zone (kasi alam ko I'm not good at too many things, but I am a good teacher) but I felt like it ate up so much of my time and energy. So I started taking less teaching load, and about 4 years ago I decided to quit and take on an 8 to 5 job.

    Now I have more time for the other things I wanna do; I never have to work beyond office hours; I have weekends set as free. Plus, I saw more of the world and met/learned from people beyond the academe. Nagagamit ko na rin my college and my first graduate degree. So I feel less guilty about "wasting" my younger years trying not to be a teacher, pero nag-teacher din naman ako :lol:

    Teaching is still more fun and exciting, but I got burned out. Leaving was a timely trade-off. I know I'm gonna go back to teaching in the future. I can always do it part-time. And when I do go back, I have even more to share to my students.

    Baliktad tayo. I honestly am not proud to say this but i spent 10-20k pesos a month sa video games, yung mga pay to win. Not proud of it.. it's just a game addiction na gusto ko na mawala totally.

    Walang taon ka na riyan di ba? Sampung taon ang kontrata? Kaunting tiis na lang, mabilis ang panahon!

    O hindi ka maaaring lumipat na papasukan? Di ko masyadong alam ang patakbo ng work visa sa AmeriKKKa. Dito sa amin basta may work visa maaaring palipat-lipat ng papasukan.

    Buti ka pa you only pay $50. We pay $150 for triple play (cable, internet and phone). They structured the pricing so it would be impractical to go with double play.

    ok lang yan sis, family naman kayo, so sulit sa inyo.

    for me to pay $130 for phone, cable, and internet, di sakin sulit,
    dahil mag isa na lang naman ako, since my ex and i called it quits.
    syempre nung dumadalaw kami sa mga bahay namin, nakakanood kami ng tv habang nag co coffee sa living room, bawal kasi pumasok sa mga bedroom ng bawat isa. :glee:

    i still pay $60 for internet and $7.99 for netflix. thats the best for me.

    5 years sa SG, 3 years dito. I think sa pareho lang ang patakaran sa work visa ng Oz (457) at US (H1B). Basta work visa hindi permanent resident, magkaiba yun. Sa US, yung work visa is limited to 6 years max (7 years for management role). Within those years, kelangan maka apply ng green card. Nag kickstart na yung processing ng green card ko. And the processing will take years. Which means I have to stay in the company during processing (puwede naman daw pero risky daw ito according to some immigration lawyers).

    Yep, konting tiis lang. Although ready naman ako to face consequences kung sakaling magka aberya.

    I just bought a TV box last IT Expo. $150 lang at walang monthly subscriptions. It's way better than the cable bundle offered here na $60-$100+ per month pag may mga add ons. May Netflix na and other international channels for each country at mga latest movies. :bop:
    Minsan ko lang din gamitin dahil di naman ako mahilig manood ng TV. Max na siguro 15 mins. I'd rather browse the net, play DOTA2, play tennis, bike, maggym, bowling, swim or go out. Feeling ko kasi unproductive ako pag babad sa TV. :hiya:

    No offense po. Most or all OFWs ay low to average salary lang naman sila monthly at walang OFW o kung meron man ay super bihira na may mataas na position dun. Feel free to correct me if you think i am wrong. Just do argue with me and defend yourself!

    Yung pinagmamalaki nila na ganyan salary nila abroad? nagiging malaki yan dahil they converted it to Philippine money... pero if you do compare your salary abroad sa kapwa mga tao dun na dun din nag wowork it's very small amount!.

    According to career cast website. this is based in 2013! not the lastest since 2018 na ngayon. Ang yearly salary ng Military General ay 198,000 USD. Ang Surgeon ang number 1, mga nasa around 210,000 USD a year. that was in 2013! ang lawyer mga nasa 105,000 USD. Ang nurse mga nasa 60,000 USD.. basta around ganyan.

    Unrelated to the thread, but yeah! *okay* Others would say they envy that teaching ends at 4 pm without realizing that grading papers (and preparing for lessons) has no 5 pm cutoff.

    On topic: I left the US to be with family and raise my own family here in the Philippines. I traded higher pay and a more convenient lifestyle for love and for a sense of duty, all non-financial.

    Iba sistema dito sa amin. Wala na iyong binanggit mong 457 visa. Ang bagong temporary work visa rito ay hanggang apat na taon lang at hindi magagamit na tulay para maging PR.

    Iyong nais magkaroon ng PR dapat mag-apply ng PR habang nasa labas.

    you can track your p.d. kent,

    dapat my p.d. ka na, in one month, otherwise chini chika ka ng company mo.

    in 6 months dapat may e.a.d ka na, that would,give you more security,

    keep me posted, kent...anyway 3 yrs ka pa naman, so madami ka pa time...

    Myopic mddle class mentality LOL

    The upper class don't really mind if other pinoys elect to work or live abroad. After all, they themselves have family and even businesses/residences there. Also, many of them matriculate and even start their careers abroad before coming back home (if ever they do) to manage and take over their family conglomerates

    Some middle class? Ayun, insecure sa kapwa nila middle class who chose to try their luck abroad :D
