Siya lang ang babae talaga for me –Enrique, For Me, he's the
    perfect guy - Liza

“Yes, we have our respective projects and it’s also good that not on our separate ways but we have our own work din para mag-grow kami and we get to work with different actors as well,” klarong sagot ng dalaga.

“I think yes, he’s one of the options po,” sabi ng pinakasikat na young actress ngayon.

“I’ve said this before na ever since siya lang ang babae talaga for me,” say ng aktor.

“For me, he’s the perfect guy!” salo naman ni Liza. “And he’s someone who is always there for me, always there for me.”

    LIZA-AT-ENRIQUE-0316.jpg

‘Siya lang ang babae para sa akin!’

‘He’s the perfect guy for me!’

CONFIRMED!

For me, he’s the perfect guy! And he’s someone who is always there for me, always there for me.”

Sa tanong namin kung okay lang ba sa kanya na hindi si Quen ang leading man niya sa “Darna” movie, “Yes, we have our respective projects and it’s also good that not on our separate ways but we have our own work din para mag-grow kami and we get to work with different actors as well.”

Binanggit namin ang pangalan ni Tony Labrusca, “I think yes, he’s one of the options po,” sagot ng dalaga.

    Liza defends self against bashers

    11ba71ae3ee831c5abdc3ef3a09d8807_L.jpg

LIZA Soberano was bashed for playing the role of a native maiden called Ganda in “Bagani” when everyone knows she has an American mom and looks so mestiza. How does she react to this?

“I respect their opinion, but in my heart, I know I’m Filipino,” she says at the show’s thanksgiving presscon. “Even if I’m only half Filipino, that doesn’t make me less Filipino than the rest of us. Also, our directors and writers have already explained that this is not based on a historical true story but is a work of fiction, a fantaserye.”

The show has not even started yet when some detractors already assailed it for not being culturally authentic. The production team then explained that “bagani” refers to warriors and protectors who become heroes or champions that fights for the common good of their tribe. They add that the show does not pretend to be a historical account of Philippine history but they’ve created an alternative fictional universe with elements of Filipino mythology and folklore that highlights Filipino values and beliefs.

Liza said she underwent rigid training for her role as Ganda. “Nag-aral ako ng wushu and had to work out in the gym regularly,” she adds. “Since this is an action-adventure story, maraming fight scenes and difficult stunts and we have mentors to train us on how to execute them well for the camera. I’m very proud of ‘Bagani’ and its message that there’s a little hero in each of us when we sacrifice and do good for the benefit of others.”

In their alternative world of Sansinukob, there are five groups: the farmers of Tagapatag, fishermen of Tagalaot, traders of Tagakalakal, forest people of Tagagubat and desert people or Tagadisyerto. Liza is tagapatag while Enrique as Lakas is tagadisyerto. Supporting them are Matteo Guidicelli as Lakam who’s tagakalakal, Sofia Andres as a slave who’s tagalaot, Makisig Morales as Dumakulem who’s tagagubat, Christian Vasquez as the leader of mga tagadisyerto, Zaijan Jaranilla as a teenage nomad who acts as the narrator, Rayver Cruz as a friend of Lakas, Ana Abad Santos as the mother of Lakas, Enzo Pineda as the leader of tagalaot, Precious Lara Quigaman as the older sister of Ganda, Diether Ocampo as the deity called Apo, Robert Sena as Ama, Ryan Eigenmann as another deity called Sarimaw, Dimples Romana as Babaylan, plus Benjie Paras, Joi Agpangan, Maricar Reyes, Ahron Villena and Cora Waddell.

“Bagani” is one of ABS-CBN’s biggest-budget shows, with the pre-production alone taking one year in the process, what with its lavish costumes, sets and special effects featuring flying dragons. The first few weeks were shot in the scenic spots of the Ilocos Region but that’s too far so they reconstructed it (including the sand dunes of Paoay) in a special set built in a vast studio in Bulacan.

“This is so different from any other show Enrique and I have done before,” adds Liza. “When we finally saw the first episodes on screen, kinilabutan kami sa ganda because all our hard work paid off. Everything coming to life in a jaw-dropping way. Hindi namin akalaing ganun kaganda ang resulta.”

So how is it working again with Enrique in an action-drama? “I’m so comfortable working with him because we can now motivate each other. Matagal ang preparation ng fight scenes, kung minsan four to five hours, pero sandali lang mapapanood sa TV, but it’s all worth it kasi the feedback of viewers is very encouraging so far.”

“Well, para sa amin po, siguro sa tingin po namin, kami, even if we’re half-Filipino, it doesn’t make us any less of a Filipino. And lahat naman po tayo, may sariling opinyon and para sa amin, Pinoy po kami.

“Kung para sa kanila, hindi po, we respect their opinion as well but we just want to let them know as well na we feel and we are proud to be Filipinos,” aniya.

Chika naman ni Quen, “Just the same as her (Liza). We just want to give a good show that the people would like to watch and enjoy and to teach some lessons about the history of the Philippines and hanggang doon lang po kami, e.

“We just want to give you a good show and just pour our hearts at all of them, to all the Filipinos watching, so that’s what we wanted to do,” aniya pa.

Hirit pa ni Lakas (karakter ni Enrique sa serye), “This must be the best show na nagawa namin dito sa ABS-CBN. Kung makita niyo naman, I think it’s very fresh sa atin po lahat because ABS hasn’t really come up with really, really epic shows of this proportion and it’s a good thing na we’re starting. So congratulations sa ABS-CBN and sa ating lahat.”

Napapanood ang Bagani sa Primetime Bida after Ang Probinsyano.

It’s official: Liza and Enrique sweethearts for real

    0318rushes-1-e1521386037227.jpg

It was just a slip of the tongue when actress Liza Soberano finally admitted on Thursday that she and onscreen partner Enrique Gil are a couple for real and now “exclusively” dating.

At the media gathering for their latest drama fantasy series “Bagani,” the cast members were asked the question: “Are all the members of ‘Bagani’ already taken in real life?”

To this, Liza replied: “Yes,” which caused an uproar from the crowd.

The actress then stopped herself, raised her right hand, and quipped: “Just wait. We are still too young!”

When Enrique’s turn to reply to the same question came, he simply said: “Yes.”

Before this, the couple was asked if they missed each other whenever they were not at work.

Enrique said: “We’re so used to working together on different projects, but there were times when our schedules don’t match. When that happens, we just call each other. Of course, I miss her…She had shooting for ‘Darna’ recently so we just did a video call.”

Liza, who said it had been over four years since they first teamed up, added: “There were also days when we don’t get to talk to each other, especially when the signal in our location gets really bad. But we make up for lost time. Quen (Enrique’s nickname) sometimes visits me at home, and then we would have dinner.”

On another issue, Enrique admitted he “felt hurt” by comments that he and Liza were “not Filipino enough” to play the lead characters of “Bagani,” saying that “being a Filipino is not just about one’s physical look.”

“Everybody has his own opinion of what a Filipino is. For me, it’s not just the skin color. I know I’m a Filipino at heart. I was born here and raised by Filipinos,” he told reporters. “I love this country. This is my home.”

Enrique, 25, was born in Cebu City to a Spanish father and a mother who is Filipino but of German descent. Liza, 20, was born in Santa Clara, California, in the United States to a Filipino father and American mother. At age 10, she moved to Manila to live with her father after her parents separated.

“The fact that we are half-Filipinos doesn’t make us less Filipinos. We respect other people’s views, but we also want to let them know that we feel and are proud to be Filipinos,” declared Liza. “I may have not been born here, but I’ve learned to love the Philippines as if it was actually my birth country. I love Filipinos. I love the fact that I am one, and am proud to be one.”

In “Bagani,” Enrique plays Lakas, a warrior from the desert region and whose parents were branded as traitors for standing up for what is right. Liza is Ganda, the loving but feisty younger sister of the farm region’s leader, Dilag (Precious Lara Quigaman). The series also stars Matteo Guidicelli (Lakam), Sofia Andres (Mayari) and Makisig Morales (Dumakulem).

“We just want to give a show that viewers will want to watch and enjoy, and at the same time, share lessons about the history of the Philippines,” Enrique pointed out.

Incidentally, Liza started working on the latest adaptation of the Filipino superheroine “Darna” on Wednesday. The Star Cinema-produced film will be directed by Erik Matti.

“It’s really fun working with the whole crew. I have yet to wear harnesses, and I’m already enjoying the experience,” Liza shared with reporters.

Enrique, however, will not be her leading man. “I think it’s also good that we have separate projects so we can grow individually. It’s also so that we can get to work with different actors.”

To this, Enrique said: “It’s perfectly fine with me. I will support Liza in whatever project she does.”
