Sosyal ka ba,if you know a lot about food?

Kasi nabasa ko,isa sa mga cultural trends daw ng mga Pinoys ngayon is the expansive of food knowledge, instead of owning expensive cars,as a sign of sophistication.

No such thing as a malleable palate. Kahit na well-travelled ka, you will hate some food and you will love some food. Plenty of high society people out there who hates truffle and secretly chomps down on mcnuggets. Imposibleng mappreciate mo lahat ng cuisines around the world, although you can appreciate the technique and intricacy of a certain dish if you know how to cook.

Depende...pero there's a point IMHO when people appropriate a form of 'class' from eating.

And that to me, doesn't matter how rich you are, an air of kavadooyanz. :glee:

    Kainin mo na lungs.

The people I think are 'sosyal' when it comes to food are:

    1. People who can actually make amazing food.

    2. Real deal connoisseur like this cheese expert (ie they often times went to school for this, and know their shyet----I don't know about other schools, but I know sommelier school is expensive + legit on certification process). Most of them make a living out of it (master sommeliers make decent living).

IMHO it's good to know food and nuances of the art of making it (I have many books about food and science/nutrition behind it---how heat/cooking into chemicals reactions and how our bodies digest food is one of my weirdest knowledge hobbies to research :glee:).

But there's a certain degree of "I ate here therefore I'm cool" shenanigans going around. Most pa00tot foodies IMHO don't really appreciate the food itself; 9/10 they care more about being at specific restaurants to IG/social media it.

Nabasa ko,naging status symbol daw yung pagpost ng pagkain sa Instagram. The food on your plate (and Instagram Feed)is the new status symbol.Food posts have become a social media currency that is causing us all to gain weight.

Not if you made it by your own self.

Mahina memorya ko sa name ng mga pagkain. I usually check the ingredients more than the name of the food. There's no way you can remember a Thai cuisine for instance.

But as I said, I eat to live and ok to having burger or pizza once in a while.

Hindi ako pala-analyze ng kinakain ko..if it looks good, and tastes good..hala sige lamon.

I'm big on eating with manners though. Small bites, dahan dahan, chat with whoever I'm eating with. This helps me enjoy the food more, avoid pigging out, and look more classy. No to boodle fights, just seems tacky to me.

What if I know how to make my own food?

    And I know how.
