ORIGINAL SINGING CONTESTS. Meanwhile, two new original singing competitions will also be launched by the Kapuso network in 2018.

One of is titled The Clash, which is dubbed by GMA as a "cutthroat search" where undiscovered vocal talents will fight against each other to be the last man standing.

The Clash will be hosted by Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez, who is also known as the host of GMA's defunct singing search Pinoy Pop Superstar, which ran for three seasons from 2004 to 2007.

Aljur Abrenica was, in his words, "speechless and honored" to have officially signed as an ABS-CBN leading man mid-last year, after nearly a decade with rival network GMA-7.

Now, the 27-year-old actor is set to top-bill for the first time a Kapamilya teleserye, "Asintado," along with Julia Montes, Shaina Magdayao, and fellow "StarStruck" graduate Paulo Avelino.

Avelino an Abrenica are not the only "StarStruck" graduates who sought "meatier roles," as Avelino put it, and finally transferred to ABS-CBN.

    posted on April 12, 2018

    She is officially a Kapamilya.

After her award-winning performance sa Osaka Film Festival sa pelikulang Mr. and Mrs. Cruz ni Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, heto na siya, officially a Kapamilya.

At sa Dreamscape ang unang project niya!

JERRY OLEA: “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.”

Sayang si Ryza but it is a good career move for her.

With Ryza now in ABS CBN, GMA should push Jackie Rice!

MANILA - Aljur Abrenica was, in his words, "speechless and honored" to have officially signed as an ABS-CBN leading man mid-last year, after nearly a decade with rival network GMA-7.

Abrenica won, while Avelino was a finalist in the fourth season of the reality show, which was billed as GMA's flagship "artista" search.

An ABS-CBN star for seven years now, Avelino has appeared in over a dozen Kapamilya series, mostly as leading man. "Asintado" will mark the 29-year-old star's return to teleserye acting, just a year after "The Promise of Forever" in 2017.

Avelino an Abrenica are not the only "StarStruck" graduates who sought "meatier roles," as Avelino put it, and finally transferred to ABS-CBN.

In photos and videos, here are eight other celebrities who entered showbiz via "StarStruck," and eventually transferred to the Kapamila network.

    Next

    CRISTINE REYES

    Finalist, Season 1 (2003)

A contract artist of Viva, Reyes transferred to ABS-CBN in 2008, after four years with GMA. She was notably launched as a Kapamilya as the titular character in "Eva Fonda," and went on to top-bill several other series both in the afternoon and primetime blocks.

    NADINE SAMONTE

    Finalist, Season 1 (2003)

The 29-year-old actress, who was in the same "StarStruck" batch as Cristine Reyes, was briefly a Kapamilya in 2014, when she clinched back-to-back roles in "Maalala Mo Kaya" and the primetime series "Hawak Kamay."

    PAUL SALAS

    Finalist, Kids Edition (2004)

Now 19, Salas was only five years old when he joined the kiddie edition of "StarStruck" in 2004. His Kapamilya breakthrough came in 2008, while his latest acting role is in the acclaimed "The Good Son" on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida. Instagram.com/salas.paul

    MEGAN YOUNG

    Finalist, Season 2 (2004)

Best known for her Miss World win in 2013, the 27-year-old actress signed with ABS-CBN in 2007, after three years with the rival network. Notably, she joined the 2008 celebrity edition of "Pinoy Big Brother," and top-billed "Hiyas," as a Kapamilya. Instagram.com/meganbata

    ARCI MUÑOZ

    Finalist, Season 3 (2005)

Known for her sexy-drama roles, the 28-year-old actress network-hopped from GMA to TV5 in 2010, then from TV5 to ABS-CBN in 2014. Aside from starring roles on TV, Muñoz's Kapamilya turn yielded a successful movie career, with hits like "Always By My Maybe" and "Can We Still Be Friends?" under Star Cinema.

    JEWEL MISCHE

    Winner, Season 4 (2006)

    https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2018/entertainment/01/08/jewel-mische-010818.jpg?ext=.jpg

Whereas Aljur Abrenica was the "Ultimate Hunk" in the fourth season of "StarStruck," Mische was the "Ultimate Sweetheart." The 27-year-old actress stayed with GMA for four years after the win; she transferred to the Kapamilya network in 2010, where she starred in TV dramas like "Maria la del Barrio" and "Paraiso." Instagram.com/mischejewel

    ENZO PINEDA

    Runner-up, Season 5

Currently seen in ABS-CBN's afternoon drama "Pusong Ligaw," the 27-year-old actor was with GMA for seven years before he clinched a role in ABS-CBN's "Till I Met You," launching his career as a Kapamilya contract artist starting 2016.

    SARAH LAHBATI

    Winner, Season 5

Despite being declared winner of "StarStruck's" fifth season, Lahbati's GMA stint ended on a controversial note, as she had a tiff with top executives of the network. She turned a new leaf in 2015, when upon return from her home country of Switzerland, Lahbati signed with ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN actress Barbie Imperial joins Paul Salas at StarStruck Kids reunion

Barbie Imperial was spotted with Paul Salas during the June 2 reunion of Starstruck Kids.

In a rare occasion, former contestants of GMA-7's reality show StarStruck Kids were seen together again after 14 years.

Eight of the finalists were present during the reunion: Bea Binene, Sandy Talag, Paul Salas, Sam Bumatay, Gabriel Roxas, Shamel Leask, JM Reyes, and Miguel Tanfelix.

Photos of the event were posted by Paul, Sam, and Sandy on their respective Instagram accounts.

ABS-CBN actress Barbie Imperial, who is rumored to be Paul's girlfriend, was also spotted at the event.

In a short conversation with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) through Facebook Messenger, Bea shared some stories about the reunion that happened last Saturday, June 2.

How did they plan the reunion?

"Si Miguel ang nagstart ata. Haha. Una sa Instagram lang bilang di pa namin alam mga numbers then nagdecide na sa Viber na. Ayun. Tapos sila sila nagusap kung saan, kelan and ano.

"Then ang mga pinagusapan namin is like yung mga pinakanatatandaan namin na memory ng StarStruck Kids, then kung ano na course nila Shamel kasi sila yung di talaga namin nakikita palagi."

PEP.ph also asked Bea if she was able to speak to Paul, who just recently returned to GMA-7 after several years of being with ABS-CBN.

Haha."

This marks the first time that Miguel Tanfelix and Sam Bumatay were seen together again after more than 10 years.

It may be recalled that Sam played the original Lawiswis in the telefantasya Mulawin, wherein Miguel portrayed the role of Pagaspas.

Miguel reprised the role in the 2017 sequel Mulawin vs. Ravena, while Lawiswis was played by his love team partner Bianca Umali.

    StarStruck Kids
was the only kiddie edition held for GMA-7's reality-based artista search that was aired in 2004.

The other contestants who were unable to join the reunion were Ella Guevara, Kurt Perez, Madi Yu, Renz Juan, Serge Septimo, and Uno Guerta.

Sam Bumatay and Kurt Perez were hailed as Female and Male Ultimate Survivors, while Ella Guevara and Miguel Tanfelix were named as the First Princess and Prince of the batch.

Currently, only Bea, Sandy, Paul, and Miguel remain active in show business.

Miguel is part of the Kapuso prime-time series Kambal Karibal, while Bea is set to top-bill the upcoming drama series Kapag Nahati Ang Puso (formerly titled Karibal Ko Ang Aking Ina).
