Majority of Filipinos believed that there are extrajudicial killings (EJKs) in the Duterte administration’s war on drugs, a recent Pulse Asia survey released on Monday revealed.

The survey, conducted from September 24 to 30, showed that 73 percent of the surveyed respondents believed that EJKs exist in the government’s brutal crackdown on illegal drugs.

The respondents were asked, “Do you believe or not believe that extrajudicial killings or EJK are happening in the implementation of the campaign against illegal drugs? ”

this is one of the most complex questions i have seen in a survey. it's like 2 paragraphs, rather than a question.

to me, there are two things here that respondents were reacting to :

    - they don't believe the govt
    - EJK happens

88% support the campaign against illegal drugs. i thought this should be much higher, even 99.99& should be supporting illegal drugs. they are illegal and everyone know and should want it stooped. makes me wonder why it didn't get 99.99%

another alarming finding from the research - 76% of people feel that what happened to Kian De Los Santos, murdered by cops under the war on drugs, may happen to them, their family members or friends.

  • sa pagkakaintindi ko eh filipinos still support the war on drugs but the government should do something about the alleged EJKs.

LOL don't be so naive. It didn't get to 99% cause the remaining 12% are busy counting monies as beneficiaries of this illegal trade. You should know cause it's all over your ka-KKKs -- Leni as protector of in-law drug lord Butch Robredo; Drilon as protector of cousin drug lord Jed Mabilog; and of course De Lima, the mother of all drug lords that ran drug trade over at Bilibid :glee: :glee: :glee:

most people and that includes me have no problem on eradicating illegal drugs, the thing that i have a problem with is the EJK that Duterte has assigned as the way to solve illegal drugs.

73% of people believe EJK happens. 76% are scared what happened to Kian, EJK, may happen to them.

an earlier survey - not much has changed - people are worried they, a daily member or friends worry they can be a victim of Duterte's EJK

PNP’s ‘nanlaban’ stories are lies, more Filipinos think so

More Filipinos found the “nanlaban” claims of police hard to believe.

This was the result of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, which revealed a declining trend in the public’s opinion on the honesty of the Philippine National Police (PNP) when its members declared that drug suspects were killed because they resisted arrest or attacked authorities during their arrest.

The SWS survey released on Monday showed that 37 percent believed the policemen were lying about their ‘nanlaban’ statements, up by 9 percentage points from 28 percent in June.

Only 17 percent of the respondents believed that policemen were telling the truth that drug suspects fought back, down by 8 percentage points from 25 percent in the June survey.

Meanwhile, 45 percent of Filipinos were still undecided on the issue.

“This brings the net opinion about the truthfulness of the police to a significant -20”, SWS said.

The survey covered 1,500 adult-respondents from September 23 to 27, and asked this question:

“Sa kampanya ng gobyerno laban sa illegal na droga, ang kapulisan po ba ay: Talagang nagsasabi ng totoo; Malamang nagsasabi ng totoo; Hindi tiyak kung nagsasabi ng totoo o hindi; Malamang hindi nagsasabi ng totoo; Talagang hindi nagsasabi ng totoo na ang napapatay nilang suspect ay talagang nanlaban sa kanila?”

(In the government’s campaign against illegal drug, the police are: Definitely telling the truth; Probably telling the truth; Undecided if telling the truth or not; Probably not telling the truth; Definitely not telling the truth that the suspects they killed really resisted them?”)

The SWS survey also noted that the net opinion about the PNP’s truthfulness was lowest in Metro Manila at -34, followed by Balance Luzon at -31, Visayas at -15, and Mindanao at +3.

Despite this, the latest SWS survey still showed that majority of the respondents said they were satisfied with the performance of President Rodrigo Duterte and the government.

Among the respondents who said that policemen were “definitely not telling the truth,” 52 percent said they were satisfied with Duterte’s performance, 37 percent were dissatisfied, and 11 percent were undecided.

When it comes to the administration’s performance, 56 percent of the respondents, who believed that policemen definitely lied on their ‘nanlaban’ tales, said they were satisfied with the government while 25 percent were dissatisfied.

The survey had a sampling error margin of ±3 percent for national percentages, ±4 percent for Balance Luzon, and ±6 percent each for Metro Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao, SWS said.

SWS: Most Filipinos believe not all summoned for Oplan Tokhang are addicts, pushers

early half of the Filipinos surveyed by the Social Weather Station (SWS) believe that not all of the people summoned by the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the implementation of Oplan Tokhang were illegal drug users and peddlers.

This was the result of the latest survey conducted by the SWS that was published on Saturday by its media partner BusinessWorld.

The third quarter SWS survey covering 1,500 adults nationwide disclosed that 49 percent of them believe that none or not all of those called up by the police were involved in drugs.

The respondents’ criteria in this survey include that they should have personal knowledge of someone who had been summoned by the police in relation to the PNP’s implementation of Oplan Tokhang.

This percentage was followed by 36 percent of people who believe those called up were involved in illegal drugs, while 14 percent said they do not know, and 2 percent said none were involved in illegal drugs.

The survey conducted on September 23 to 27 had face-to-face interviews of the respondents nationwide – 600 in Balance Luzon and 300 each in Metro Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao.

It has a sampling error margin of plus-minus 3 percent for national percentages, plus-minus 4 percent for Balance Luzon, and plus-minus 6 percent for the rest of the areas.

Personal knowledge of anyone summoned for Oplan Tokhang was highest in Metro Manila at 31 percent, followed by Balance Luzon and Mindanao at 25 percent, and Visayas at 22 percent.

The proportion of those who believe that not all of the persons summoned for “Oplan Tokhang” are drug addicts and pushers was highest in Metro Manila at 50 percent and lowest in Mindanao at 41 percent.

“Net satisfaction with the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs, President Rodrigo Duterte, and the overall national administration tend to be lower among those who say not all of the persons summoned in ‘Oplan Tokhang’ are drug addicts and pushers,” the SWS noted. /jpv
