Feeling ba ng nasa West, di sila OFW kungdi immigrant?

kafamzkafamz PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐

  • ^^agreed! OFW's are workers na ang hawak is work permit and/or visa. Kapag naman Immigrant, Immigrant status holder that will lead to permanent residency or citizenship.

An Overseas Filipino (Filipino: Pilipino sa Ibayong-dagat) is a person of Filipino origin who lives outside of the Philippines. This term applies to Filipinos who are abroad indefinitely as citizens or as permanent residents of a different country and to those Filipino citizens abroad for a limited, definite period, such as on a work contract or as students.

    :hiya:

even the definition you posted betrays you, Overseas Filipino not OFW.

OFW is a technical term used by the Phil Govt through the POEA and OWWA for Filipino citizens who have permits or visas to work abroad.

It doesnt apply to Filipinos whe are permanent residents or citizens of oher countries as theyre not affiliated with these govt agencies.

pano yung pamiya na dinala , paremtts, spouse and children na hindi nag wo work, OFW din sila? :glee:

:hmm:
  • I have yet to meet an OFW from my relatives and friends who claimed to be that. Most of them started as OFW but they gained permanent resident or even citizenship status. The only people who admits being an OFW are the ones from asian and mideast countries.

    Flame bait thread.

Basta ako, im out of the country for 12 years now and i know that I'm an OFW. I am also a permanent resident of Singapore but the funny thing is, permanent residency in Singapore is temporary lol, you still have to renew it every 5 or 10 years (you will be assessed based on the number of years you stayed in the country). Not sure if the green card system of US is the same.

its a technical term, those of our collegeagues who arrived here under working visa nung nagka backlog yung immigrant petition,

were called OFW. based on their affiliation to the poea. kasi kung ano man mangyari, the POEA/OWWA is responsible for repatriation and support for the families of the OFW.

walang ganun ang immigrants at citizens.

wala naman masama dun, to me its not a deragatory term to our kababayans working in other countries, sila na nagsumikap, nag sakripisyo at nagpapadala sa pilipinas, sila pa ba ang dapat mahiya?

its just the TS kasi, galing siguro sa bansang "ingglatera", sabi nga sa FB:hiya:.

he wants to undermine those OFWs who are honestly working.feeling nya mas mataas sya sa mga ofws pero namimilipit sa inggit.:glee:
Yung nag work sa ibang bansa na based sa contract lang, never mo matawag na immigrant yan dahil yung work visa nila puedeng di i renew ng host country any time na gusto nila.

  • If you are already established abroad, drive a luxury car and have a nice home with swimming pool, you really couldn't care less what you are called by some unemployed locals/tambays who are stuck in the Philippines and got really nothing better to do with their time.

    @kafamz

Some Filipinos prefers to be called expatriate or expat, so that they don't have to explain want OFW means to other nationality.
