Why most pinoys like to splurge than save?

Most pinoys have the "Bahala na si Batman" mentality. Sadly, a lot of young and old pinoys are financially broke. What is the best way to break this habit? A cousin of mine was borrowing money 2 months ago and I said No. I wasn't being madamot, just want him to learn how to save money so he'll not beg for money forever. Sometimes, when we always send money to relatives, they don't learn the real value of it. They become lazy and unable to be independent. Majority of pinoys don't have emergency funds and it's really pathetic. We might be wondering why most of our kabayans love to visit the malls despite their financial issues.

Because "yolo", "mga anak ko na bahala sakin in the future", "money is the root of evil", "hindi mo madadala yung mga material na bagay pag namatay ka na", and so on. Then later blames the government for their misfortunes. Lels~

There are even some who considers having a child an investment. Emotional aspect, I believe oo. Pero financial? Duh...

Also add the mainstream media influence. Telebasuras that always portray poor as "heroes" and rich as villains, the never ending kalandian in national tv.

its because majority og us Pinoys practice "one day millionaire." everytime may sahod or payday, gastos ng gastos. yung mga young ones hindi pa mature in terms of financial status. naging ganyan din ako dati nung nakatanggap ako ng first salary at my first job... pero after that, nag start ako nag save every payday.

as our age ascends, we tend to be financially matured. ang ginagawa ko is I make budget using the Excel reports... I record all my transactions, savings, etc... and yes, I have utangs to pay. that's why I make budgeting in order to control our finances.

Yup. Very nice. As for me, I use my mobile app to track my expenses every day. Let's face it, there is a rainy day in our lives whether we are ofws or not. Ako kasi I'm an OFW and mahirap kaya I learned how to value every money. Yung iba kasi sa pinas pag alam nilang ofw paldo kagad ang dating mo hahaha. I don't spend like there's no tomorrow. I pack my lunch kahit nasa foreign land ako and I do save like 40%. It's tough kasi I don't know what tomorrow might bring. I have a great job but this will not be forever.

Napansin ko lang some/most (wala akong statistics) Pinoys kasi live beyond their means.

And so on and so forth...
