Established in 1850, American Express is a U.S. multinational financial services corporation and is best known for its credit card, charge card, and traveler's cheque businesses. It is the largest card issuer in the world based on purchase volume. It is the 4th largest card network in the world, based on the number of cards it has in circulation
Established in 1950 (a century after AMEX was founded), Diners Club International was the first independent credit card company in the world, and it established the concept of a self-sufficient company producing credit cards for travel and entertainment. DCI or Diners is under the Discover Financial Services, Inc.
