Ano ba yuuuung undergrad mo before? Kung related naman sa second course mo, eh mag Masters ka na laaaang. Kung totally different lets say, engineering to nurse then you have to take it again.

I know of two doctors who studied at UP-PGH. After several years of practice, they enrolled at UP Law and also became trial lawyers.

late bloomer yata ako, kung kailan tumanda saka nalaman kung ano ang gusto. kaya hindi ako makapagdecide talaga. matapos ko man in 4-6 years, di ko alam kung may patutunguhan pa.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not discouraging you, just being realistic. I had a classmate who was around 40 when he came back to geology (I have a BS in Geology and a PhD in Geophysics). He stopped during the Martial Law years. But do note he already worked for a mining company a few years before coming back. Kaya pa naman yan at 36 to get a job especially since you have a PolSci degree as well, that makes your options more open and you have additional skills.

    in demand ba geology ngayon?

i domt believe in second courses, unless dead end talaga course na kinuha mo, like wala talagang opportunity of any kind,

kasi for me, marami nga dyan, di naman nakatapos, or di naka graduate ng college, successful naman.

i had co interns na di nakapasa sa boards ng PT. pero they still made it, naging med rep, medical transcriptionists, or medical billing specialists sila, di na rin sila kumuha ng new course.

kung ayaw mo current work mo, find another....

but if you decide to study again,

do it because you feel youd really excel in this new course/ profession youve chosen,

and not because youre tired of your current work or field, otjerwise youd still end up anyway, feeling the same way after youre done with your second course.

A geology grad has a lot of options to go into, apart from the traditional mining industry, such as energy development, construction and engineering, disaster preparedness, climate change adaptation, environmental planning...
  • Ok lang yan. Ito nga 31 na :naughty:

yun iniisip ko, if i graduate, zero experience ako, full time non-geology-related kasi work ko ngayon pero tama ka, kaya pa naman yan, kailangan lang magrisk ng malaki. (tuition at oras)

thanks nikkilove. i will take your advice. gusto ko naman itong work ko. dahil nga dito naenganyo/nainspire ako mag geo. di ko sure kung in demand sya, pero gusto ko sya pagaralan in demand or not.
  • Hi. Try enrolling in Mapua. I'm taking my second course in Mapua right now. For Geo, typical program in Mapua can be taken in 3 years, that is if wala kang bagsak. I have friends in the program. Mostly higher math and chem courses mahirap daw.

It's never too late to change course or careers or do something different in your life.

Since di na ganun karami ang kukunin mo na GE courses (kung meron pa), pwede siguro mag start ka na kumuha ng graduate geology classes kasabay ng iba mong classes during your 4th year. Mas maganda na yung may advantage ka na MS degree over your younger BS co-graduates.
