As long as the country is 3rd world, none among our universities will be relevant to the international arena even in the near future.

Locally, UP is still relevant, they have almost all the academically inclined students. We may have a lot of UP alumni in the government and in military, but still the country is poor. We really need to change our views in education, education should be about teaching how to explore, develop and innovate and not ONLY to learn what is already known.

maybe they should just remove the law courses and just offer Engineering, Economics and Medical courses

labor wise in pinas, yes, very much, around asia, it may still matter,

but across the pacific and atlantic, no.

ive seen st jude dimasalang, perpetual help manila, and ama college grads here, driving their lexus or acura, taking trips to new york once a year, and living in nice neighborhoods.

did it matter if they were not up grads? answer is pretty obvious.

in regards to the topic, their idealogy i think is good only within their campus as their UP chant is, (matatapang, matatalino, walamg takot), in the UAAP; as shown above. :glee:

    UP is overrated, definitely.

On a more serious note, I prefer that schools should stick to something they're really good at. For example, UP Manila-- definitely stay as is... specialize in medicine and related courses. The government's budget allocation should also stipulate kung anong program lang ang may budget.

Well in a way it does. You're exempt from English accreditation tests, maliban na lang kung talagang eng-eng ka sa Ingles.

Also, buying Lexuses and Acuras hardly require quality high education. Nothing more needs to be said there. And what about getting good jobs in institutions like NASA and Bell Labs, or World Bank and IFC? What about admission into graduate programs in Universities like Harvard, or Wharton, or MIT, or Stanford?

It may be taught in our school but the fact that the country is still poor, it is either:

    - we didn't learn the lesson
    - the school doesn't stress its value to students

Let's face it, education in Pinas is very much needed to have a better life in the future. Better life. Not the life of what Zuckerberg or Bill Gates is enjoying right now, like atleast you have a decent house and car.

Oops, they are college drop outs, aren't they?:naughty:

UP is still the best university in the Philippines. Tanggalin na lang sana nila yung mga makakakaliwang prof like the CONTEND group na walang itinuturo kundi kung paano sirain ang Pilipinas at ipanalo ang NPA/MILF

Those u.p senators either came from well-off families or finished top-tier courses, or both.
