Car for newbie: Ford Fiesta or Toyota Vios? (new)

Hi all, I want to buy a car :D

A little background about me regarding cars:
- I'm really a newbie when it comes to cars (specs, fuel efficiency, etc.)
- I already have my driver's license for over a year but I rarely use our family car (Mitsubishi Adventure GLX 2006 M)
- I live in Fairview, Quezon City (near SM Fairview)
- I work in Ortigas, so i will most likely drive via commonwealth or katipunan.
- Budget is 800k
- I'm not fond of 2nd hand cars.

I'm currently torn between the Ford Fiesta and the Toyota Vios.

I want to know which car is worthy to be my first.
And if possible which other car can you recommend for me.

Thank you very much for your time.:bashful:

  • Doon ako sa Toyota Vios. Walang sablay ang tatak ng Toyota sa tibay at pangmatagalan. Madali pa ang piyesa!

FORD = Found On Road Dead. Di ako bilib sa tatak na iyan!
  • ^ Very genius explanation of FORD lol

If you want a practical car, then go for the vios. But if you want to have fun, go for the fiesta.

I am presuming that you are single and living with your parents. If that is correct, i should say its not yet time to be practical. This is the time to have fun. Lol

But if you still prefer practical choices, here are some suggestion for you: https://philkotse.com/car-toyota-vios-metro-manila-manual-transmission-new/p2

    Good luck po!

If it were me I would go for a Ford Fiesta. With regards to reliability Toyota is excellent, but IMHO most Japanese cars are so practical that sometimes they are boring. Just go to a Ford and Toyota showroom first and compare both vehicles, there is no point in buying something you don't want.
  • Kung gusto mong itirik ka ng sasakyan, Ford ang kunin mo....
  • Get a Vios, which is as of right now the safest in its class, I think. Depreciation value is also good, considering the rising amount of Vios owners.
For comfort, the money is well worth it. I've ridden in an old Vios and wow does it ride well. I personally dislike Toyota as a biased person, but disregarding my subjectivity, Toyota is a very reliable brand.
Here are some good classified sites to choose one: Tsikot, Olx, Philkotse, Carmudi
  • Fiest hatchback is more highly recommended. With 800k, you can consider between a 1.5L Trend PS trim level (805k) or 1.5L Trend MT (755k).
  • Thanks everyone!
Seems like FORD is not good choice
Someone just suggests me with a Honda City which is said to be more fuel-efficient.
But personally, I still prefer the overall look of the Vios...
    Kinda confused right now :rotflmao:
    Can anyone help??:bashful::bashful:

Pinakamainam kumuha ka ng appointment sa casa upang makapag-test drive. Sa test drive ka magpasya kung alin ang kukunin mo.
  • Sorry...but what do you find worth-buying in a Ford Fiesta?
If your preference is only limited to these two models, go for the Vios.
  • then...why shouldn't we go for a Fiesta, sir?

It depends with your preference. If you said overall look, the City is much sleeker and meaner than the vios.

I guess it would be best to go to a showroom, request for a test drive. Don't only base with looks, check the handling and comfort-ability as well. You can also check the cabin and dash design of those two vehicles.

    From there, then decide.

Yes, PHILKOTSE is a very interesting auto website i have ever seen. I get a lot useful tips to buy a good car safely
  • I'd prefer Toyota Vios because of the quality and customer service that they prefer. But in the end, it's up to you kung ano pipiliin mo at kung ano mas gusto mo talaga. Hope this helps. Goodluck! :)
  • I love the new Ford Fiesta ST because of its promising three-cylinder engine.

K.I.L.L. My brain only has 512mb!
The current generation Fiesta has had a lot of transmission issues. You might not have problems in the short term but you might get a headache in a few years. I would rather go for the tried and tested Vios.
  • How much Ford Fiesta ST 2017 costs?
  • Toyota wigo is much better than ford fiesta.
  • Please permit me to post.

    Hi, Im a noob.

My husband & I are eyeing on a second hand Ford fiesta 2011 or 2013. He likes it very much, both interior & exterior. Ford has an appeal compare to other brands on its price range.

Kaya lang we have been reading about the transmission problems encountered by owners of Fiesta 2008-2014. Some are horrible experiences like biglang tirik, other problem includes "ngarag" sounds when shifting gears, meron din kalampag and so on.

I am not really sure though if repair is still a problem from Fiesta users nowadays since matagal na rin naman yung powershift ni Ford, 6-7 years ago. Or is it?

Maraming problema ang auto transmission na gamit ng Ford. Payo ko kung kukuha ka ng Ford iyong manual transmission lang para di ka magkaproblema!
  • no such thing as a newbie car, its your preference. if you have the money, you can get whatever you want. it's your personal choice.
