Beauty queen Mariel de Leon on bashers: "Those haters, I don't know them, so why should I care?"

Pahayag ni Mariel, “For people who know me personally, they aren’t surprised.
"Kasi I’ve been like this like before.

“I guess, people were shocked because they have this certain image about me, na kapag beauty queen, dapat mahinhin or she shouldn’t talk.

“Just because I’m a beauty queen, that doesn’t mean I’ll gonna change myself.”

Tugon ni Mariel, “Well, there’s more people that appreciated me with what I said over the haters, so it’s okay lang naman.

“Those haters, I don’t know them, so why should I care?”

Sabi ni Mariel, “I think it’s important din kasi to have smart girls.

“Like in Q&A, if you don’t have an opinion, how will you answer the question?”

NO PRESSURE.

Sagot ng Binibining Pilipinas titleholder, “I don’t think about the pressure.

“I’m the type of person na super chill lang.

“Whatever happens, happens. I'll accept it.”

Ano ang mga ginagawa niyang paghahanda?

“Of course, in terms of preparation, the usual...

"Gym, hair and make-up, walking, and of course, speech.

“With regards to pressure naman, I don’t feel it."

Dugtong pa ni Mariel, “It’s weird kasi the other people around me are pressured for me.

“But I myself, I’m the one doing the competition, I’m not pressured at all.

“Kasi, I just wanna have fun, I just wanna enjoy.

“As they say, it only happens once in a lifetime, so might as well just enjoy it.

“Kasi, if I’ll pressure myself, I’ll forget the whole experience and I won’t enjoy the whole experience.”

Simula ni Vice, “I just would like to personally apologize nga pala.

"Kasi last time, I wasn’t able to personally say my apologies to Mr. Tony Calvento, who got offended when his name was dragged during the discussion noong nakaraang linggo.”

Patuloy niya, “Pasensiya na po kayo. I personally apologize.

I apologize," pagtatapos ni Vice.

APOLOGY ACCEPTED.

ALL IS WELL. LET'S MOVE ON VICE.”

THE ISSUE.

With the release of the latest photos Raymond Salda?a took of Bb. Pilipinas Grand International 2017 Elizabeth Clenci, the countdown starts for her date with Miss Grand International 2017 which will officially start happening in Vietnam less than two months from now. She will be the first among the Bb. Pilipinas 2017 Queens to wage beauty battle abroad, and it would be wise to start bringing in the noise for our bet right now.

While Liz won?t be going for a back-to-back, surpassing the 1st Runner-Up placement of her predecessor Nicole Cordoves is an equally daunting task because the next step to be able to do that is already winning the crown currently being held by Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia. Corollary to this, the tightening factor of another Asian getting the big win is an added weight on her shoulders.

    img_6465.jpg?w=242&h=300

But let?s leave it to our girl. I know she can be the silent killer supporters and believers have tagged her to be. 🙂

You may think that everything is relatively quiet on the Rachel Peters front nowadays. But rest assured, she is doing her share of the training and preparations for the next edition of Miss Universe. There are floating rumors of Phoenix, Arizona sticking to the thorny heat of the US midwest. I’m not buying into the cacti-surrounded talks yet. It’s just not in the solid horizon from where I stand.

Anyways, Rachel might be flying to London for a quick trip soon. You might have already heard or read about the demise of her beloved paternal Grandmother and she needs to attend the burial with parents and brother.

More on Rachel in the weeks to come!

PAISTARAN: RACHEL PETERS, EXCITED NANG RUMAMPA SA MISS UNIVERSE!
    By DONDON SERMINO
    August 20, 2017

    rachel-peters-002-194x336.jpg

“A lot talaga. Aside from diet, we also have training for walking. We also have hair and make up training, and of course, Q and A,” kuwento ni Rachel, nang makatsikahan namin siya sa grand opening ng Pizza Hut sa Mall Of Asia, ang maituturing na pinakamalaking outlet ngayon sa Pilipinas, na may mahigit 150 katao na puwedeng ma-accommodate.

“It’s getting closer and closer. Pero, wala pang date. Sana ma-announce na nila. Pero, more than pressure, mas excited talaga ako.

No name pa… We’re still training and working on it.”

“I think its also right na gamitin natin ang mga designs ng mga Filipino designers, because we’re representing the Philippines. And Filipino people have so much talent.

Pilipinas-International, at iba pa.

“The move to renovate and make the store in SM Mall of Asia bigger, better, and a venue to experience the total pizza experience is also made possible by Pizza Hut’s strong partnership with SM Prime Holdings, Inc, SM mall subsidiary,” tsika ni Lorent Adrias, ang Chief Marketing Officer of Philippine Pizza Inc.

MOCHA USON SLAMS BB. PILIPINAS INTERNATIONAL 2017 MARIEL DE LEON
    August 19, 2017

PCOO Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson on Saturday, August 19 slammed Bb. Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel de Leon on the latter’s tweet expressing concern regarding the killings in the country.

    IMG_3912.jpg

Uson took to her Facebook account to blast the beauty queen teasing her to use her brains not just her beauty.

“Ate wag puro ganda ginagamit mo. Don’t confuse MURDER WITH KILLING THE CRIMINALS.,” Uson wrote.

    Maria-Angelica-de-Leon-Mocha-Uson-1.jpg

Mocha’s reaction stemmed from Mariel de Leon’s tweet sharing concerns on how people became desensitized about the killings in the country.

On her tweet Mariel de Leon said “It’s hard to wrap my mind around the fact that people are okay with murder because their leader says it is okay”.

    Maria-Angelica-de-Leon-Mocha-Uson.jpg

Few hours after Mocha’s rant verus Mariel’s tweet, the beauty queen also shared on Twitter, “Didn’t mention anything specific, but hey! If you’re affected, I guess the shoe fits perfectly! 👠#SashayAway”

    Maria-Angelica-de-Leon-Mocha-Uson-2.jpg

This is not the first time that Mariel shared a political tweet. Last May, the beauty queen also figure in an online controversy when she tweeted opposition regarding Mocha Uson’s appointment in PCOO. That tweet went viral earning both supporters and bashers.

Being part of the administration and die-hard supporter of the president, De Leon’s tweet didn’t sit well with Mocha. The PCOO Usec then went to an all out defense for the President and slammed the beauty queen online.

Mariel de Leon feels no pressure about back-to-back Miss International wins

Sabi pa niya, “Kasi it will be my first time din sa Japan, so I’m excited to just absorb the whole experience and to meet the other girls.

    “And, of course, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

“Kasi, after this, parang I can’t join any other pageant na, so…”

    Bakit naman niya ito nasabi?

    “Well, parang… I won Miss International-Philippines na.

"So, after that, I don’t know where else to go!” sabay tawa ni Mariel.

Nakausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Mariel sa launch ng libro ni Jonas Gaffud na The Crown: Your Essential Guide to Becoming a Beauty Queen, sa Hello Kitty Café, sa Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, kahapon, August 21.

Si Jonas ang head ng Mercator Artist and Model Management at kilalang beauty-queen maker na siyang mentor ni Mariel at nina Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, at Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, among others.

GRACE UNDER PRESSURE.

Saad niya, “Yes, I’ve heard na it’s never been done in Miss International, but I choose not to think about that.

“I choose not to think about the pressure and having to win.

“Like, of course I want to win, but I won’t stress myself.

“I won’t be so gigil with it.

“I'll do the best that I can and put my faith in God.

“And, of course, the support from my family, Aces & Queens, and my other beauty queen sisters, and just have fun.

“‘Coz at the end of the day, it’s just about having fun.”

Tugon niya, “Of course, I’m very, I guess, sure of myself.

"And I’m sure of God’s plans for me.

“And I know that if I put everything in my life, in my faith to Him, He will give me what I deserve.

“And if I ask for it, of course, God-willing, He will give it.”

Dagdag ng Pinay beauty queen, “And when I get to the international stage, I’m gonna give it my all, my best.

“I will not hold back anymore, but I’ll still have fun.

“I won’t pressure myself, I won’t stress myself too much.

“And in my speech, I will talk about what’s relevant in today’s world and what’s happening around the world.”

FIRST IN THE FAMILY.

“Yes, I’m the first, in the De Leons.

"So, that’s nice,” nakangiting sabi niya.

“Well, kasi for me naman, wala.

“’Coz in my head, my family is just like any other family.

"I guess, people think na porke showbiz, special na agad?

“Pero for me, it’s not the case, I guess.

“’Coz I’m used to it and I’ve grown up with it with everything that comes with it.

“So, I don’t think na we’re different from anyone else naman.”

“Kasi my parents reassured me na whatever happens, they’ll still support me and love me.

“And, at the end of the day, that’s all we want, di ba?”

    Heads up!
Elizabeth, Nelda and Mariel are out to show the world why Filipinos continue to shine not only in pageants, but as people

    By: Regina Mae Parungao
    Published October 8, 2017

    beauty-queens.jpg

At the send-off party thrown by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc (BPCI) a few days ago for beauty queens Elizabeth Clenci, Nelda Ibe and Maria Angelica de Leon, it’s obvious the three are primed to breeze through their quest for crowns that will give pride to the nation anew.

Asked what will make them stand out, they gave the same response: Determination.

Elizabeth will represent the country in the Miss Grand International Competition in Phu Quoc, Vietnam on Oct. 25. She admitted having this “whirlwind of emotions.”

“Honestly, I feel I have butterflies (in my stomach). Like, can you believe that? I will be the first to compete and I really don’t know what to feel,” she said.

Elizabeth follows in the footsteps of Miss Grand International 2016 and Manila Bulletin’s brand ambassador Nicole Cordoves, who finished first runner-up in last year’s competition.

Does she feel pressured about it?

    “Not at all.”

According to Elizabeth, Nicole’s journey is different from hers. The former is confident she, too, will make it big in the international pageant. If anything, the half-Romanian beauty queen said Nicole advised her to “stay wise but at the same time enjoy the rest of the competition.”

“I don’t try to compare my journey to hers. Nicole’s journey was amazing and I admire her for that. Nonetheless, I want to be my own (person) and I can say that I’m 100 percent ready to represent our country,” she said.

Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2017 Nelda will vie for the Miss Globe crown on Nov. 3 in Tirana, Albania. She aims to be the second Filipina to win the crown, after Miss Globe 2015 Ann Lorraine Colis.

“For the past few months, talagang nag-focus kami sa training and siguro ’yun talaga ang nakatulong sa akin ng malaki,” she said when told she seems to be more confident now.

In preparing for the question and answer segment, Nelda often reads the news. She intends to not use an interpreter come finals night.

A pilot by profession, she said being disciplined as required by the job will be her advantage.

“At higit sa lahat, siyempre ’yung suporta ng kapwa ko mga Pilipino,” she said.

Mariel likely has the heaviest pressure on her shoulders as Filipinos wish for her to attain a back-to-back win at the Miss International pageant. The opera singer is set to compete in Tokyo, Japan on Nov. 14.

Although she wants to bring home the crown, the daughter of actors Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong doesn’t dwell on the pressure of replicating Kylie Versoza’s success.

“I never compare myself to other people. It’s more of challenging myself to be better. Of course, I will work hard and I will give it my all to get a back-to-back win. Hopefully, if God blesses me with a crown, I will really be happy.”

Mariel thanks her fellow Binibini Queens for the moral support they give her, and for being sincere to her, like “sisters by heart.”

“I’m always grateful to have them. Because people always expect in pageants na all the girls you know… medyo catty, na they won’t help you at all. But thank God, all the queens are super nice and genuine, not at all fake,” she said.

    Queens with a purpose

Aside from preparing for their respective international pageants, Elizabeth, Nelda and Mariel have been promoting their advocacies.

Elizabeth was recently appointed Peace Ambassador by the office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

“If I win the title, I will focus on bringing awareness to creating equality and effective communication,” she said. “I would also like to focus on the diversity in this world so that we can be more unified as a nation. Furthermore I will focus on the youth because think that’s an important thing more than anything else. The future of our world is in their (youth) hands, so if we raised them the right way, then that’s huge.”

Nelda previously volunteered with Gawad Kalinga in building homes for homeless youth. She hopes to be given the opportunity to continue with his advocacy during her reign.

Should she win the Miss Globe crown, Nelda intends to use her voice to shore up more support building shelter homes for street children.

Mariel wants to use her position to effect change, especially on social media.

“I believe that as a beauty queen, I have this (social media) platform. This isn’t like the ’50s or the ’60s anymore where woman are expected to just be quiet. It’s 2017 (already) and I’m a strong woman with opinion. I’m not afraid to show it and speak up for what I believe in.”

Venezuela's Tulia Alem?n was named 1st runner-up, while Philippine bet Elizabeth Durado Clenci placed 2nd runner-up.

Brenda Azaria Jim?nez Hern?ndez of Puerto Rico is 3rd runner-up, and Nikola Uhlirov? of Czech Republic is 4th runner-up.

Completing the Top 10 finalists are: Miss Indonesia Dea Goesti Rizkita, Miss South Sudan Eyga Mojus, Miss Ukraine Snizhana Tanchuk, Miss Thailand Pam Premika Pamela Pasinetti, and Miss Vietnam Nguyen Tren Huyen My.

Mar?a Jos? Lora dedicated her win to her fellow Peruvians.

She said in her acceptance speech, "Thank you very much for believing in me. I have worked very, very hard to be here.

"I didn't know that I could make this dream come true, but with a lot of work, thank you so much, I made it possible.

"And this is for all my people, Peru estas para ustedes, los amo. (Peru, this is for you. I love you!)

"And especially for the women in my country that are suffering from violence, I wanna tell them to get up and do not lose your dreams.

"You can also make your dreams possible. Thank you so much."

ABS-CBN actor Xian Lim and Miss Grand International 2016 1st runner-up Nicole Cordovez hosted the coronation night of Miss Grand International 2017.

CLENCI'S ANSWER. In the final question-and-answer portion of the pageant, Xian asked the Top 5 finalists the same question: "If you have to issue a law to punish criminals of war and violence, how would you punish these people and why?"
