TENNIS CHALLENGE: Predict the ATP & WTA Top 10 of 2017

GENERAL MECHANICS:
  1. Instruction. Simply predict what the ATP and WTA singles Yearend Top 10 will be like at the end of the 2017 calendar season. The women's tour ends in the 2017 WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China (October 30-November 5), whereas the men's tour culminates in the 2017 ATP World Tour Finals in London, England (November 13-19).

  2. Deadline. You may submit your entry not later than January 1, 2017, 11:00 AM, PH time. This is when the first main draw matches begin in Brisbane, Australia, the earliest tournament of the calendar season. Late entries will not be accepted.
  3. Revision of Entries. Revising an entry is only allowed before the deadline. In doing so, please submit it as a separate post by quoting your previous entry.
  4. Scoring. Points are awarded and accumulated based on the following:


Correct Pick Point (CPP)
Each correctly guessed player into the Top 10 earns three (3) points. Maximum obtainable points: 60 points


Exact Rank Point (ERP)
Each correctly guessed player in their exact rank placement earns three (3) points. Maximum obtainable points: 60 points


Dark Horse Point (DHP)
Each correctly guessed player who has never made the Top 10 before 2017 earns four (4) points. For the list of active players and their Career High Ranking in the Top 10, please see related table below. Take note that predicting for new entrants into the Top 10 is not required. Maximum obtainable points: 4n points, where n = no. of Top 10 first-timers
In other words, correctly and accurately (i.e. exact rank) predicting just one dark horse player could earn a maximum of ten (10) points.


Margin of Error Point (MEP)
Each correctly guessed player within the ±1 or ±2 margins of error from the actual rank earns two (2) or one (1) point, respectively. These are the partial points you can gain despite not having guessed a player's exact rank right (ERP). For instance, Roger Federer's 2017 yearend rank would be No. 5. Corresponding points are to be given if you predicted him to rank No. 3, 4, 6, or 7. Maximum obtainable points: 40 points



[*]Bonus. Participants who will submit a valid entry (i.e. not past the deadline) in each of four PEx Tennis Grand Slam Fantasy Leagues will get a fixed five-point (5) bonus. There will be no partial points for a fraction thereof. Additional two (2) points will be given to whomever ends the Fantasy League 2017 season within the overall Top 10.
[*]Names. Writing down just the player's first name, nickname, or surname is welcome. However, for players with non-unique first names (e.g. Nicolas, Ana, David, Shuai, Caroline, et al.) or surnames (e.g. Williams, Radwanska, Pliskova, Zverev, Zhang, et al.) in the current live rankings, kindly specify your desired pick to avoid confusion. Similarly, you can only put a particular player at a single rank placement and nowhere else.
[*]Determination of Winners and Tiebreak. Results will be tallied when the Top 10's are set: after Zhuhai finals for WTA and after London finals for ATP. Scores will be tabulated first by tour. The three participants whose entries have the highest combined total points win the game. In case of tie, the contested rank will be given in favor to the entry with higher CPP. The amount of ERP shall be taken into consideration next (if there is still a tie), and then the DHP.
[*]Tokens and Prizes. All participants will get a special PEx pin designed for this game. The Top 3 scorers overall will each get a winner's pin and a loot bag of PEx goodies. The sole ATP and WTA Tour champions will likewise be awarded with a winner's pin unless they comprise the overall winners.
