UP Spiking and Lady Maroons Thread XII: Step UP! Bring back the FIGHT! #MakeBawi

Coming Full Circle
Does history really repeat itself?
The year was 2012. Coming off of a winless season, and by then their most most talented player about to play her last year, UP made a drastic change in its volleyball program by hiring celebrated Coach Jerry Yee. The start was rocky, as expected. Working with holdovers from the previous system, he managed to steer the squad to a few UAAP match wins in just his first year. The next two years brought stability to the team, as Coach Jerry's natural eye for recruitment resulted to talented rookies entering the fray. Their efforts were rewarded with several wins in off-season tournaments, culminating in a Final Four finish in Season 78 of the UAAP. In thatFor moment, the horizon looked limitless.
Fate had other plans, however.

The sudden departure of Jewel Lai was like throwing a monkey wrench in clockworks. It was perfect: the old "Hope core" who played together for ages plus a slew of fast-improving "veterans." But with such an important role being voided, the effects were instantaneously felt. Four years ago, Coach had to convert a natural spiker to a setter. Is it really 2012 all over again? Are we really "back to square one?"
Change is constant in sports, especially in college sports. The cycle of players graduating, getting injured, leaving, and getting used to new teammates is a reality. Succession planning is a reality. 2012 will not be repeated, simply because we have now built a culture of striving for excellence in this sport.
Players will come and go, but the culture will stay. It will only be nurtured with challenges, fortified with experience. So when we come full circle again, we come back smarter, faster, and stronger than ever before.
UP Fight!

2. (idiomatic) To complete a cycle of transition, returning to where one started after gaining experience or exploring other things.

Ang pangit ng team stats natin. Hindi pang-final 4. Nakakaloka.

Well we just got a new setter, so I can't really fault them.
Blocking and serving are not setter-dependent, though.
Serving, we've always been a laggard in that department pero yung blocking talaga ang sobrang nawala sa UP.
TBH disappointing yung blocking at serving ng team. About sa spiking percentage wise at sa ranking natin sa spiking sa mga liga sinasasalihan natin ay di nagbago(no major difference) since UAAP 78.
Hahaha proudly low eq!
Congrats kay kween werqi! Top 1
