Is fengshui real or just mindless superstition?

FrigidFrigid PEx Rookie ⭐
Fungsoy is when you arrange furniture or stairs or parts of the house relative to something so that "positive energy" can enter the house, so that you can be prosperous, rich, bring good luck ,etc.

This is an originally chinese thing that Filipinos have adopted.

Ex. Put mirror, coins, candles in certain directions of the house, doors must face certain directions of the house etc

Is there credibility to this or is this only supersition that contribute to the dummification of society?

  • A lot of pinoys are gullible that's why maraming nauuto ng pari at pastor. Isa pa yang fung shui, horoscope at kung ano ano pang katatarantaduhan.
  • Pamahiin lang iyan. Ayos lang hindi naman nakapeperwisyo.

May Feng Shui book akong nabasa nung bandang high school age ako.

it's whatever helps people sleep better at night.

in the end of the day, if the person believes all the feng shui stuff he did is helping him live a better life, so be it.

walang basagan ng trip.. it's a one time deal lang naman. hindi naman to tulad ng iglesia na bwan bwan e humihingi ng 10% mo.
  • plus some do have practical basis.

Pero we mainly say it as "foong-sooy"

  • The interior design aspect of feng shui makes sense. Your physical environment influences how you think, feel and, thus, behave.

Except much of feng shui is based on Daoism and not on ergonomics or applied psychology. :glee:

In the higher sense, ie if you believe in ghosts and goblins = then yes living in accordance to feng shui will make you feel better.

If you're Chinese, and you feel like you're following tradition, that's great it might make you feel better.

But if you don't necessarily do or you aren't (a Chinese), in scientific point of view much of it doesn't make sense.

If anything in terms of interior design, go look up the modern "Zen" minimalist interior design ideas. There's a cult following nowadays here in the US (minimalism).

They use the term "Zen" and it's also very popular in Japan, but it's not at all trying to some BS Buddhist philosophy, besides the that it pursues minimalism.

(Halimbawa negosyo)
Natural kung gagawin mong isang bagay.. Ke may pungsoy man o wala, magkakaroon ka pera kasi may ginawa ka. At kung wala kang gagawin or susundin natural "mamalasin" ka.

Depends on the practitioner, too. Some know their sh!t. Some are just out to scam people.

So, yeah, the legit ones apply principles of ergonomics and neuroscience (e.g. in choosing color palettes) without you even realizing that it's not the supernatural/mystical that's at work there.
