Kailangan bang maging choosy sa first job?

Ano ba ang importanteng tignan sa first job?

Yung long-term career potential? Salary? Quality training? Yung lapit ng work? (More comfortable)

Need opinions please

  • Definitely hindi dapat priority ang salary. I think kahit ano pang line of work yan, the practical experience and the RIGHT to state that you have gathered the practical experience in your resume is worth a lot more. The other factors are a lot less important for your first job. Kaya nga sya corporate ladder. Hahaha. Kung makakahanap ka ng job na relevant sa career na gusto mo habulin AT malapit pa sa tinitirahan mo, I think go for that. Sobrang laking bagay nung hindi mo na pinoproblema yung travel to work.
  • Ako, nung first job ko, since desperate ako to have a job na nun, tinanggao ko agad, ayun, hindi ko in-assess kung magiging masaya ako sa kanila. turn out, i was right. I learned from them...a lot! but my experience wasn't that good. so always consider kung husto mo ba talaga yung job or not. Sayang panahon eh. You might have landed on an awesome company but you're stuck with one that isn't gonna make you happy. Lagi mong titignan kung may challenge ba sya sayo (In a good way). Wag basta tanggap ng tanggap just because bagong graduate ka. Karapatan mong maging choosy dahil grumaduate ka so you have the right to be. Kasi inaral mo yung course mo ng ilang years then hindi mo naman magagamit ng maayos, what's the sense, right?
  • I think later on, pwede ka na maging choosy talaga. When you have the work experience and expertise under your belt (and maybe some savings), then maybe you can say no if you feel that the offer's not enough or you don't like the company. When you're just starting out, just take whatever's available. This is especially true if you don't have your parents to depend on. A lot of people who can afford to cherry pick their first jobs still go home to their parents' house, with no rent to worry about. If you have that luxury, then go ahead. You're lucky. I needed to earn even before I finished college!
  • Benefits , salary and location. It's ok to make mistakes when it comes to your first job. Minsan akala mo a yun na talaga gusto mo, yun pala hindi. Also, may mga ilang nagsasabi na wag daw magcall center pag first job. I disagree. For a first job, maganda ang call center kasi maraming benefits plus maganda pa. ang sahod.
  • Dapat alam mo value mo. Choose a career not a Job.

For me, if where talking about Good Experience yes we need to be choosy. Kasi si 1st sya mag bibigay sayo ng way sa professional world. So thats why pag mag aaply ka dapat alam mo rin background ng company and you believe in the same mission. Salary for me kung alam kong makaka survive ako sa offer, Yes.

Thank you ates and kuyas! I am a Highschool graduate.

But the case is,matagal syang matetengga. The dream job does not come in a silver platter. I always advise this to our undergrads sa school ko, wag lang puro abs, gma, or the like ang applayan. Ang nangyayari kasi hinhintay nila yung results ng application nila sa job n magkakaron sila ng "good" experience and it will take months sometimes ang tagal inintay, ang tagal na unemployed, *** gusto nilang company eh, narejec sila. Ngayon kailangan dpat practical ang mga tao.

Location ng work place ang pinakamahalaga because travel time from and to work will eat all your strength para makapagperform ng maayos sa trabaho. Been there, done that. Sayang nga lang kasi yung company eh nagbibigay talaga ng opportunity sa employee para maggrow. Pero ayoko mamatay sa pagod dahil sa traffic at puyat. Just my two cents. :)

    Set your priorities.....

Long term career - accept a job kahit mababa sweldo, kahit malayo sa home basta relevant iyung experience sa linya mo. Cons, wala kang maiipon short term. Pros, kung magaling ka, malamang malayo na narating ng career mo at bida ka class reunion after 10 years.

Salary - accept any job basta mataas salary, kahit di mo gusto work mo. Pros mabibili mo agad mga gusto mo. Cons - after 5 to 10 years same pa rin ginagawa mo and konti pa lang tinaas ng sweldo mo.

Quality training - same as long term career.
  • Unless Employers are calling you, then you don't have a choice...harsh reality:
    "Beggars can't be choosers"

I am a beggar, I close eyed signed the contract of the first company who offered me a JO even if it is a slight mismatch from my course..but of course limit your job search to specific offices where you can still commute to, etc.
...and don't dare apply to jobs with potential night shift if you can't handle it

May responsibilities ka ba? Bills to pay? Pinupush ka na ba ng parents mo to get a job? If yes, di ka dapat maging choosy. Pero kung wala naman, you should wait for the right opportunity or at least something close to it.

Personally, I saw my first job after graduation as a stepping stone to my chosen career path e. It's better to get a job na gusto mo para tumagal ka dun, aside from maganda sa resume, okay rin yung experience na makukuha mo from staying in a company for quite some time.
