It is not just waste of consumer's money but also waste of government's money treating hundreds if not thousands of firecracker victims year after year after year. It is also waste of time and effort for doctors and nurses who should've celebrated new year with their family.

And the air pollution it creates, unbearable!

Ayos na wag magpaputok sa pag salubong ng bagong taon. At kawawa pa aso namin at halos di magkanda ugaga sa kakahanap ng matataguan. Idagdag pa pollution at possible injury.

Yung mga boy namin taga sindi ng paputok. Kami puro pailaw lang. Lusis at torotot.

Sa amin okay lang naman kung gumastos. Isang beses lang sa isang taon ito. At may pera naman kami. Tsaka masaya at manigo ang pag salubong ng bagong taon talaga.

Spent new year's eve here at my cousin's place somewhere Pasig. May kapitbahay silang mukhang gumastos ng malaki for fireworks. Since we are on the 16th floor, we had the best view of what they spent lots of money for Thank you, neighbors!

Dati nung dalaga ako, nagpapaputok ako kahit girl ako, using a long stick nasa dulo eh katol.

IMO, tanga naman talaga ang mga napuputukan at nadidisgrasya ng paputok. Unless aksidente lang talaga na nakatapak ka or naibato sayo.

Ngayong taon, 50% daw ang ibinawas ng mga injuries related sa paputok, that's good.

Sa family namin, tradisyon na talaga, pero kung i banned ng government, okay lang din, for the safety of the public in general.

When I was a kid we also had firecrackers every New Years eve which we spent in our hometown in Batangas . They were a whole lot cheaper back then. I remember our extra table was filled with them. The most powerful one you could buy back then was the "bawang". I don't know why those things became more powerful like the "Goodbye Philippines" today. But over the years we gradually lost the drive to spend for firecrackers. Today we just play music at full blast.

I remember my dad would also fire his S&W revolver into the air. It was safe though- his work gave him access to free blank ammo.

Come to think of it, that is one way to safely fire a gun into the air at New Years eve if you really have the itch (though it still won't be legal today). The revolver cycles (if it's DA) and depending on the powder load, there's the flash and the bang, recoil and even the smell of gunpowder (if the smell of all the firecrackers going off everywhere isn't enough ha-ha).
