MANILA - Actress Liezl Martinez passed away on Saturday morning after a long battle with cancer.
"Si Liezl, yung pamangkin ko, namatay kaninang umaga
stage 4 cancer," said her uncle, Cheng Muhlach.
Muhlach said the 47-year old actress was in a hospital since Monday.
"All the family is here. Ibuburol siya sa Arlington," he said.
Martinez is survived by her husband, actor Albert Martinez, and three children.

MANILA - Liezl Martinez's life was cut short on Saturday morning. The wife of Albert Martinez succumbed to stage 4 cancer.
She was 47.
Anna Lissa Martinez in real life battled the Big C for eight years. But Liezl did not face her battle alone. Her family was always there beside her until the end.
"Sobra akong blessed. Anytime I go, I don't have any complaints, because I became a mother, I have good kids, I have a good family. What more can I ask for?" Liezl said in an interview in 2012.
Liezl loved sharing photos of moments shared with her husband, and their children Alfonso, Alyssa and Alyanna, on her Instagram account.

Sa Startalk nitong Sabado, March 14, sinariwa ng mga host ang alaala nila sa namayapang aktres na si Liezl Sumilang-Martinez. Muli ring ipinalabas ang bahagi ng panayam kay Liezl noong March 2010 kung saan ikinuwento niya ang mga nangyari nang una niyang malaman na taglay niya ang nakamamatay na sakit.

Marami ang nagulat nang bumulaga ngayong Sabado ng umaga ang biglang pagpanaw ng dating aktres na si Liezl Martinez, maybahay ng aktor na si Albert Martinez.
Pumanaw si Liezl sa edad na 47, matapos ang ilang taong makikipaglaban sa sakit na breast cancer.
Si Liezl ay nag-iisang anak ng veteran stars na sina Amalia Fuentes at Romeo Vasquez.
Sa statement na ipinadala ng mga kaanak ni Liezl, sinabing mapayapang pumanaw ang aktres.
Ayon sa tiyuhin ni Liezl na si Cheng Muhlach, mula pa noong March 9, Lunes, ay nasa ospital na ang kanyang pamangkin.
Ibuburol ang mga labi ni Liezl sa Arlington.
Sa social media, kaagad na dumagsa ang pakikiramay ng netizens at celebrities sa pagpanaw ni Liezl.
" You fought hard. Its time to rest. Heaven deserves an angel like you! Rest in peace!," saad sa Twitter post ni Nadia Montenegro.
"Your memory, my dearest Liezl will always be a blessing! I thank God for your life and love, my precious friend!," ayon naman kay Coney Reyes.
Pahayag naman ng isang netizen, "A beautiful person dies without any fanfare. RIP Liezl Martinez."

Ilang oras pagkatapos lumabas ang balita tungkol sa pagkamatay ng aktres na si Liezl Martinez ay isang madamdaming mensahe ang ipinost ng kanyang mister na si Albert Martinez sa Instagram ngayong Sabado ng hapon, March 14.
Sa kanyang mensahe ay nagbigay-pugay si Albert kay Liezl na tinawag niya bilang "my wife, my partner, my best friend."
Dagdag pa niya, "We grew up together. We raised a family together."
Bilang isang ina ay ibinigay raw ni Liezl ang kanyang buong buhay para sa kanilang mga anak.
Sina Albert at Liezl ay mayroong tatlong anaksina Alyanna, Alfonso, at Alyssa.
Ayon pa sa aktor, utang niya ang lahatmatagumpay na career at masayang tahanandahil sa kanyang misis."

Using the screen name Anna-Lissa, then four-year-old Martinez first became known in the 1971 film "Portrait of an Angel," which also starred her mother Fuentes.
That movie was quickly followed by other film projects: "Liezl at ang 7 Hoods" and "Europe Here We Come," both in 1971, and "Pinokyo en Little Snowhite," "Poor Little Rich Girl" and "Anghel ng Pag-ibig," all in 1972.
In 2007, Martinez was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. After an eight-year battle, she passed away on Saturday.
She was 47.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Martinez, and their three children Alyanna, Alfonso and Alyssa.

Liezl Martinez was born in the world of show business, being the daughter of movie queen Amalia Fuentes and heartthrob Romeo Vasquez.
Even at the young age of four when she first starred in the 1971 film Portrait of an Angel, the camera already loved Liezl.

Liezl is the daughter of veteran stars Amalia Fuentes and Romeo Vasquez. The two were paired as a love team in the 1950s for the movies Pretty Boy, Bobby, Ako Ang May Sala and Bilanggong Birhen and many more. They got married in Hong Kong 1965 in but their marriage only lasted until 1969. Liezl is their only child.

Nino Muhlach is Liezls cousin. His father is the younger brother of Liezls mother, Amalia. Just like Liezl, Nino also started early in showbiz and eventually earned the tag "Child Wonder of the Philippines."

Aga Muhlach is Liezls cousin. His father is also the younger brother of Liezls mother, Amalia. Just like Liezl and Nino, Aga also started as a child actor in 1975 where he starred in a project with his aunt Amalia. But Aga only became a full-time actor in his teens after he headlined the phenomenal movie Bagets along with Herbert Bautista, JC Bonin, Raymond Lauchengco and William Martinez. William is the brother of Albert Martinez, who became Liezls husband.

Albert and Liezl met back in the set of the 1984 film "Ibulong Mo Sa Puso." They soon became a couple, but their relationship was heavily opposed by Amalia Fuentes. Despite this, the two lived a happy married life. They have three children -- Alyanna, Alfonso and Alissa.

BROTHER-IN-LAW: William Martinez
William is Liezls brother-in-law, being the younger brother of her husband, Albert. In 1984, William starred in the popular movie Bagets along with Liezls cousin, Aga. It was when he was doing Bagets when he also met actress Yayo Aguila, who later became his wife. He and Yayo stayed together for 25 years. In 2010, Yayo announced their split although no legal action to nullify or annul their wedding has been filed yet.

SISTER-IN-LAW: Yayo Aguila
Actress Yayo Aguila is the sister-in-law of Liezl. She is the wife of William Martinez, who is the younger brother of Liezls husband, Albert. Yayo first met William when they were doing the movie Bagets in 1984. In her past interviews, Yayo has always referred to Liezl as her own sister, saying the late actress has touched her life in many ways one can ever imagine.

CHILDREN: Alyanna, Alfonso, Alissa
Liezl and Albert Martinez have three children -- Alyanna, Alfonso and Alissa. Among their three kids, it was Alfonso who followed their footsteps in showbiz. He made his TV debut at a young age as part of ABS-CBNs Ang TV, as well as in his uncle Agas sitcom, Oki Doki Doc. Alfonso was later launched as part of the Star Magic family.
While it was only Alfonso who joined showbiz, his sister Alyanna is a famous celebrity stylist. Alissa, on the other hand, just graduated from school.
