Albay governor slams Xian Lim for alleged rude behavior, lying
Albay governor Joey Salceda slammed Xian Lim on Facebook on Friday for the ABS-CBN actors alleged rude behavior against his chief-of-staff and tourism workers during the provincial governments Chinese New Year event on Thursday.
He also dismissed Lims apology on Twitter and accused him of lying over claims he refused to wear an Albay souvenir shirt even though Lim was paid a P375,000 fee to perform and help boost the provincial governments tourism promotion.
Salceda said it was customary for honored guests to receive a Warm Albay shirt and coffeetable book courtesy of Albays Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office upon arrival.
However, this gesture allegedly provoked a hostile response from the actor, who arrived in Legazpi wearing a black hoodie and dark shades as though he didnt wish to be recognized.
Xian Lim says to my face while handing the cofeetable book, Im not here to promote Albay. Bastos siya, Atty. Caroline Cruz, Salcedas chief of staff, immediately posted on Facebook on Thursday afternoon.
Lim took to Twitter shortly after to dispute Cruzs statement. He denied saying Im not here to promote Albay.
My exact words to her were, Sorry po hindi ko maisuot yung T-shirt kasi po baka magka conflict sa clothing endorsement ko. Pasensya na po. I love Albay and I am always happy to be here with its good people. I deeply apologize to Gov. Salceda and the people of Albay for the misunderstanding about my reasons for refusal to wear the T-shirt, he tweeted.
Amid calls to declare the actor a persona non grata in Albay, Salceda was not appeased.
Ordinary staff ng PTCAO ang ininsulto at hiniya ni Xian Lim. Together with ordinary Albayanos, they are the ones who work hard, silently and patiently for Albay tourism, the governor said on Facebook on Friday morning.
Based on the prevarications on his posts, he is not getting it. 1. Hindi namin pinapasuot ang T-shirt sa guests. Binibigay lang 2. The mere fact that coffee book table is called Warm Albay and the T-shirt is Warm Albay should already be obvious that these are typical touristic materials No forgiveness deserved, Salceda added.
