Propose a new playoff format

dfgvandfgvan PEx Veteran ⭐⭐
My suggestion:
1. division champions gets a playoff slot.
1.1 division champions are ranked according to their conference and standings
2. the highest w-l % for each conference gets the 4th seed for their respective conference
3. The remaining 8 slots will be for the next 8 with the highest w-l %.
3.1 If E has a higher winning percentage vs W,
3.1.2 the #5 team of the W will be the #1 from the remaining 8
3.1.3 the #5 team of the E will be the #2 from the remaining 8
3.1.4 the two steps above will continue (alternate selection) to fill all the remaining 8 slots of the playoffs.
4. The homecourt for the first round will be those who are ranked 1 to 4 for each conference, irregardless of standing
5. The homecourt for the subsequent rounds will be determined by the w-l% during the regular season.

    wala ng division/conference

top 1-16 maglaban-laban sa playoffs, based on their standings, wag na sa conference

    tapos finals format ay 1-1-1-1-1-1-1

    ^^

Kung wala nang conference, then they'd have to have equal number of games against each opponent.

So kung 2 games per opponent, that's 58 games per team in each season, good for the players because of lower injury risk but asa namang papayag ang NBA and the TV Networks that they have deals with, that's less money for everybody, including these primadonna NBA stars.

If it's 3 games per opponent, that's an 87 game season, higher injury risk and how do they determine who gets two games in their homecourt with each matchup? Not fair.

4 games per opponent, that's 116 games. That's too much, nuff said, each team might have half of their rosters injured by the playoffs come. Kung gagawin mo pang 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 yung finals, lantang lanta na mga player dahil sa kakatravel at walang pahinga.

^ my point lang naman is kung sino talaga magagaling, sila dapat maglaban based on their real rankings, not sa rankings per division

like in early 2000s, ang lakas ng west compare sa east, any game sa playoffs sa west, daig na daig iyong finals

may division/conference pa din naman so pwede pa din iyong 82 games, pero pag dating sa playoffs, kung sino 1-16 based on the records, sila maglalaban

e.g. lakers vs kings (west finals) compare mo naman sa lakers vs nets (nba finals)

i believe a good 4-7 teams sa west mas magaling pa sa nets nung time na iyon

so mala ncaa, ranking talaga based on their actual strength regardless of their division

  • true... young pups need som guidance from veterans and a coaching staff that can maximize their talent...
hope the Bucks can improve unlike the sixers who's falling in love with the tanking

^ yup parang ganyan, based on their rankings noong season, not based on conference/divisions

Kasi sa current format, at least may competitive motivation ang teams to stay in playoff contention even with the risk of wearing down your team.

^ kahit minnesota asa east (wala namang mississippi river dun), it's like nag fill in the blanks lang din naman sila anong ilalagay sa east/west, since east mas madaming city, iyong iba nilagay sa west

the point is hindi naman accurate iyong division itself

maganda get the seeding sa regular season (meron pa ding division/conference dito), then ncaa format sa playoffs (regardless kung east or west), 1 vs 32, 2 vs 31, etc.. may home advantage pa din iyong mataas ang ranking

Nope. Minnesota Timberwolves are in the Western Conf. (Northwest Div.), and the city of Minneapolis-St.Paul is in the west of the Mississippi River. Memphis should be in the Eastern Conf. but there would be an imbalance in the conference makeup if they are transferred to the East.

Unless the NBA copies the team alignment of the NHL in which 16 teams are in the Eastern Conf. and 14 teams in the Western Conf. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Hockey_League#Teams), the Grizzlies and the Pelicans are the transferees, being the teams nearest to the East compared to the other Western Conf. teams.
