About accepting a job offer

Hi, guys. I was offered a job from Accenture last week for a probationary status. I didn't apply for a CSR position, but for a back office job.

The pay is good, benefits all in all. The problem is the schedule -- it's shifting. My recruiter said to me that I would be assigned in a graveyard shift, but it's not final yet. Most likely lang.

Would you accept this?

We all know it's a big company. Included pa sa Fortune's top 100 best companies to work for nung 2014.

Thanks sa mga tutulong. :)

    Thanks in advance.

@berrylicious You can say na you will think about the offer pero I think 1 week is too long.
  • give it max 2 days. and yun nga ganyan naman ang BPO Companies laging shifting. pag wala talaga dun sa isang JO mo, get the accenture offer or kung kaya pang makapag haggle do it .
  • how much is the salary and what are the benefits in Accenture?

Be honest. The job offer is actually a reversal of roles where the recruiter becomes the sales agent of the company and it is now his responsibility to convince you to take the offer (as opposed to the interview where you are the salesperson and you are offering your skills and competencies to bag the job).

To give them one week is a wrong answer. The correct approach is:

    1. Tell them you have other job offers. They need to know this.
    2. Tell them that you are awaiting for feedback from the others.
    3. This is the tricky part: find out when the training for the job will begin, this way, you can give them an accurate response as to when you can give them your decision. Example, if the training will start in a week, use it to wait for the other company to give you feed back. At the same time, use the waiting time to process you pre-employment requirements (in case the the other offers take too long to decide). In short, you can't say ten days if the training starts asap. You need to make a decision, pronto.

Remember, that as sales agents, they will create the need for you to pressure you to decide - sample: There is only one slot available. The training will start tomorrow (in reality, two weeks pa pala). Or they might even sweeten the deal by offering you a higher salary, etc.

Finally, under pressure to decide or not, it is never smart and efficient to turn down a job offer unless you have considered all the other options.

    Hope this helps.

Wish I stumbled on this before I have accepted an offer last week. Especially item #2.

The company I have accepted pressured me to take the offer agad. Kumbaga it's now or never. Hehe.

  • Sun_SetSun_Set PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐
    @berrylicious
Generally, no. Kasi na accept mo na yung offer.
What is bargaining chip to request for salary adjustment? Do you have a higher offer from other companies? Or does your qualification so unique that they will give in your demands?

if you negotiate now, the company might turn it down or withdraw the offer altogether for reason that you're a potential unstable employee. Na accept na then negotiate ulit.
  • I have higher offer sa other company.

Sounds off... kaso mas malaki offer sa isa at maganda benefits. Ok lang ba yun?

    Ang gulo ko! Haha.

I think it's better not to negotiate.
Just say you change your mind and is withdrawing from the offer.

Kung gusto mo ma blacklist dun sa una mong pinirmahan and sa mga affiliates niya + worst case scenario gusto mo makasuhan dahil naka pirma ka na eh go ka sa kabila, pero you choose to sign dun sa una kaya stick with it na lang and say na you have to decline and that you already signed a contract with another company.
  • Sun_Set & jhepoyski

  • just an update..

I already retracted the contract sa first company and it went well naman and they even say thank you for letting them know early, although na disappoint daw sila.

Naka signed na din ako sa second company and will be joining them soon. :)

"It's sad to belong to someone else
When the right one comes along,
Yes, it's sad to belong to someone else
When the right one comes along."

    Hahaha! :D
  • Hi Berrylicious we had the same scenario, can you please help me also on how to turn down the other offer..i Had 2 JO..yung first nakapagsign nako sa JO and yung 2nd nagsign din ako..yung First and ilelet go ko kasi graveyard shift yung 2nd Morning shift..pano ko kaya sasabihin dun sa 1st na hindi ko maka2pagstart sa kanila?
  • whitedevil080487 ,

ano ba form ng communication nyo nung first company? If thru email, i-email mo nalang din. If personal or thru phone.. nasaiyo kung puntahan mo ng personal or thru phone lang din. Kaso medyo awkward sabihin in person yun or kaya sa pon haha. So, email mo nalang.

And yun nga.. ok lang yan. It happens..

    Good luck to you.
