Archbishop of Catholic arrested for 86k and 160 sexual videos of children

Vatican detectives analyzing a computer used a by an archbishop arrested earlier this week discovered over 86,000 pornographic photos and 160 sexually explicit video files of children, reports the International Business Times.

According to investigators, another 45,000 pictures had been deleted.

Former Archbishop Jozef Wesolowski, 66, was arrested at the Vatican earlier this week on charges that he paid to have sex with minors when he was a papal ambassador in the Dominican Republic from 2008 to 2012.


Wesolowski is the first Vatican official to be arrested within the city state on charges of pedophilia.

The former archbishop was recalled to Rome by the Vatican last year while still a diplomat in Santo Domingo and relieved of his duties following accusations from Dominican media that he was paying for underaged sex partners.

Until earlier this week, he had been free to roam Rome, but is now being held in in a small room in the basement of the Collegio dei Penitenzieri, which hosts the Vatican’s court and military police.

Vatican authorities are now investigating if Wesolowski was part of a network of pedophiles and whether he abused children in other posts during his career.

Wesolowski previously served in South Africa, Costa Rica, Japan, Switzerland, India and Denmark.

If convicted, Wesolowski faces 12 years in jail in the first trial for sexual abuse to be held inside the Vatican City.

His trial is expected to start in January.

Wesolowski is from Poland; he was ordained priest and bishop by no less than St. JP2. His last assignment was as Papal Nuncio in Dominican Republic.

Even before Dominican Republic's authorities were able to file their case in court, he was pulled back to Vatican. I don't think he is going back there to face his trial. He is safer in Vatican prison than in a Latino prison.

Moreover, Poland, his native country, demanded extradition so they could try him too. The Vatican made a very short and sweet reply, "No way".

So Wesolowski enters history as the first Catholic priest to be tried in Vatican under current criminal laws against pedophilia. He will be tried by a panel of jurists who are all male, virgin, Catholics.

Already, legal experts fear that he could go scot-free, perhaps after 10 Hail Marys. You see, the Vatican Criminal Code against pedophilia was only adopted last year. It is not clear if it can be applied retroactively to the archbishop.

Hindi mo kailangang maging Archbishop para gumawa ng malaking kasalanan. Kahit si Pacquiao, Mayweather, Gloria Arroyo, o Napoles... sino man dyan ang gumawa ng malaking kasalanan, parehas lang na nakakapanghinayang. Si Judas Iscariot ng ay Apostol pa ni Kristo, hindi lang Cardinal o Pope, Apostol yan.

Ang problem sa Islam. Sa driving, kapag dumiretso ka sa red light pwede mo raw bawiin ito basta 2 green light eh diretso ka lang bawi ka na sa red light mo. Hindi kinamumunghian ang sin.

God has his reasons why sometimes he mightily intervenes and sometimes he does not, ...

Why he stood and just watch his Archbishop ruins these kids is a mystery. For now lets assume he is there, and he is good.
