People of Faith Who Were Jailed and Martyred for Social and Progressive Causes

Many naysayers are generalizing people of faith as people living in the Dark Ages and cause of chaos in the society. Never did they acknowledge that many of these people are jailed or worse martyred for social causes to spread the will of the Almighty. Progressive Christians to the molds of Archbishop Oscar Romero, Catholic Priests Rutilio Grande, SJ, Godofredo Alingal, SJ, Zacarias Agatep and Rudy Romano, etc.

Until now, the same people of faith are the ones in the forefront in maintaining democracy and respect for human rights such as the Task Force Detainees of the Philippines by the Association of Major Religious Superiors.

To others, who are the people of faith you look up to who fought or are actively fighting for progressive causes?
