Mason Plumlee played well in the scrimmage earlier. He's really giving Demarcus Cousins a run for his money in making the backup C spot for Team USA.

Cousins had a double-double performance, but Plumlee showed better energy and hustle on the floor. He was constantly giving Boogie fits inside the shaded lane. He had some spectacular alley-oops too.

Whether he makes the team or not, it has been a great off-season for Mason, so far. He has improved a lot of facets of his game tremendously. And the NBA world is slowly getting to know the caliber of player he is.

In his first interview after returning from the U.S., Bojan Bogdanovic said he believes the Nets want him to be a rotation player this season ... and that he is ready for the challenge. He also said he was overwhelmed when he saw Drazen Petrovic's jersey hanging at the Nets practice facility last week.

"Well, I think it's a bit silly to talk about me as a replacement for (Paul) Pierce," the newest Net told Dnevnik NovaTV. "But I think they brought me to be a player in the rotation immediately, to immediately help and I think I'm ready for it."

The Croatian star also said he was inspired when he saw Petrovic's jersey hanging at the practice facility. "Just the fact that his jersey still hangs in the training center of the Nets, there is a trace of him left," said Bogdanovic.

"I do not think I'm close to him [in talent] or that I can play like him, but that's my motivation as I come into his club, that you can wear a jersey that he wore... "I think it is a dream come true." NetsDaily

Brook Lopez and his brother spent the weekend in Moscow, visiting tourist sites, having lunch with the boss and even giving a clinic to the children of the US embassy. But Lopez made big news in Perm, far to the East, when he was asked about his foot. "It's great," he told a reporter for RBC, Mikhail Prokhorov's business TV channel. "I was fully cleared for play and everything a week and a half ago. It's great. Now its time to get back in shape."

I'll miss the Joe Johnson-Paul Pierce combination of this team especially in the clutch.

JJ is more than enough for me, when it comes to being clutch. What I'll miss from Paul is his leadership and the will to win.

Russian billionaire looking to sell Brooklyn Nets

NEW YORK - Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov is in talks to sell all or part of the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA club he purchased in 2009, US media reported Thursday.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix said that Prokhorov was seeking to "cash out" on his investment, after purchasing a controlling interest in the then-New Jersey Nets for $200 million.

The club's $1 billion state-of-the-art Barclays Center arena opened in Brooklyn in 2012, but Sports Illustrated, citing unnamed sources, said Prokhorov seemed ready to claim a return on his investment.

He may have been spurred by the sale earlier this year of the Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion to former Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer.

Prokhorov, who made his fortune in banking and the metal industry, is reportedly talking to the Guggenheim group, owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Former Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is a minority investor in the Dodgers, but is apparently not involved in the Nets discussions.

Prokhorov took over the Nets promising an NBA title within five years. The Nets reached the second round of the playoffs last season, but after that campaign head coach Jason Kidd opted to jump ship and join the Milwaukee Bucks.

Will he be able to recoup his investment?

He spent a lot on salaries last season.

Yormark told reporters that Prokhorov plans to own the Nets for a long time.

Plus, the deal with the Guggenheim group went off already, as reported a few days ago.

Nets got their first win of the season earlier against Detroit.

The Pistons' bigs were a nightmare for Brooklyn last season. We were destroyed both on inside points and rebounding whenever we play them. But a Hollins-coached Nets team was able to outrebound them tonight. Detroit only had a two-point advantage in points in the paint.

KG with a double-double. Best game as a Net. Hollins played him for 35 minutes. If Kidd was still the coach, he would have kicked KG's @ss to the hospital after the game.

But the best player tonight was clearly JJ. ALL HAIL JOE JESUS!

The bad news is that Brook's foot is still sore. The good news is that Plumlee has a lot of opportunity to develop his defense more under Hollins.

Deron played like Utah Deron earlier. Crossing the ankles of the defenders the Knicks are throwing to him. Melo continued his woeful shooting. Deron and Brook both scored 20+ points, a first since December 13, 2013.

To sum up the game earlier.... (This happened last season)

    Deron my man!

Deron is really back. His numbers this season has been very consistent. His mid-range jumper is also money. He can easily attack the basket even if you throw him a lot of different looks defensively, just like during his Utah days. Hoping and praying for an injury-free season for him. He can still dominate when fully healthy.

Hollins has been ripping Lopez' poor defense the past few games. Pekovic manhandled him on both ends of the floor a few days ago. Then earlier, Vucevic made minced meat of Lopez' defense. Brook is still rusty, but I like the treatment Lionel has been giving him. I'm sure it will only push Lopez to get back his timing faster and become a better player.

KG is not playing like a 20-year NBA veteran. He's been a stat-sheet stuffer so far this season.

On to a 3-game West Coast trip! Legit playoff teams in PHX, GSW and POR. Realistically, a 2-1 record is attainable.

Tough road trip. 2 fast paced teams and another mid-tempo but loves to shoot 3s. Hopefully Klay is back so thst GSW is full strength. Looking forward also to the Lopez brothers match up!
