Environment Friendly Furnitures. Cheap or Innovative?

DunedainDunedain PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐
Most FEE-noys are just like everyone else: BRAND NAME CONSCIOUS. :glee:

Personally, I like little home projects like this which is literally INEXPENSIVE compared to IKEA stuff. I can always get the palettes (through a friend) FOR FREE at a hospital's loading dock near work. The counter top can be anywhere from concrete to granite to marble. White paint just makes the palette look clean.

Call it CHEAP or call it INNOVATIVE. Ur call. One thing's for certain: IT WON'T COST A LOT OF MONEY. Here's a webpage showing other palette projects.

i wouldn't use it as a functional bike rail!

great project ideas for artisans and not bad for a student's dorm room or young couples.

you can find some good sh!t at some flea market or your local thriftstore.

back in the day, i just do some dumpster diving over some Dot-com companies, and Tech companies. i usually find office tables, chairs, furniture, appliances, computers, laser printers, copiers, etc. those where the good old days.

besides right now, the semester is over, so if you head over to some local university, you'll find futons, mattresses, beer pong tables, etc at some dumpster or back alley.
  • Ha! Amateur.

I mostly build my furniture nowadays.
    All hail the master internet.

TBH, those pictures are quite ugly for my taste, no wonder why they're cheap :glee:

Not my work, but this will give you an idea what INNOVATIVE really means

It is nice to see Pinoys caring about the environment.

dont count on some pinoys to take part on this, especially those who just moved to the US,. to them, this is being cheap.

kung American Eagle, Banana Republic and Nautica na nga, pero dahil made in the Philippines, kung itapon parang basahan, with an expression pang, "ew! made in the philippines" "yuck ha, so cheap of American eagle" with their feeling born with a silver spoon attitude:glee:,

    yung ganyan pa kaya.

makakarinig ka dyan ng, "i will only buy mahogany", take note dati lang tong namimili sa Divi and Quiapo. ngayon "only mahogany or nothing" :hiya:

I do buy some old stuff, so long its not detrimental to my own health, like cabinets for pocketbooks and dvd, side tables, computer tables for my printer for ex, ok lang. yung ma sasanitize, pwede.

of course, clothes, shoes, hindi kahit noon pa sa pinas, di ako naguukay ukay, nag iingat lang naman. also gamit ng dining and utensil sets, hindi rin.

so to me, those are really great ideas. i love recycling and use of stuff that would promote conservation.

Recycled boat turned into hammock bed/couch. :naughty:

An old friend of mine is into that, he's interior designer. But you just can't be...you know a designer per se. You gotta be at least decent with your hands eg woodshop and paint. LOL

Otherwise most of these "interior designers" just have someone else do it for them or actually buy it. If it's DIY it's more intimate, otherwise, it's just like buying furniture.

Maybe when I have lot of my own, even if it's not a house, I'd buy a shipping container and make a small man cave in the back using recycled container.

When it comes to furniture, parang Pinoys generally are not brand conscious, unlike sa mga gadgets, bags or shirts.

Then yung old bath tub, ginawa niyang cozy sofa.

An old luggage, ginawa niyang speakers.

  • I love DIY. I got a retro side table drawer and I was able to refurbish it. I sanded it until it's smooth and varnished it to mirror finish. Bought some new handles from ACE and next week going to install new runners on it as the old wooden runners are clunky.

It's really fun to DIY when you have the right machine. I hate doing it manually.
  • Some tools to have for DIY:

    Jig Saw

in the philippines, 2nd hand furniture is expensive except for those you see at the garbage dump.

why invest in power gusslers when you reduce your carbon footprint by going manual?
  • art727art727 PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐
