ABS-CBN'S THE BUZZ (Since Year 1999) is back!

THE BUZZ is back starting May 18, 2014

The longest running talk show “The Buzz” was hosted before by Toni Gonzaga and Charlene Gonzalez and it aired its last episode on October 13, 2013. It was then changed to “Buzz ng Bayan” with new hosts Carmina Villaroel and Janice de Belen.

Yesterday’s episode May 11, 2014 was speculated to be the last episode of “Buzz ng Bayan” but the hosts did not confirm it.

According to the source of Philippine Entertainment Portal (pep.ph) from ABS-CBN, “The Buzz” will return again and Boy Abunda will remain as the host while Kris Aquino and Toni Gonzaga will be joining the show again.

The source added that Carmina Villaroel will co-host in “Kris TV” while they did not still know the new project of Janice de Belen.

In contrary to the statement of the first source, another insider told pep.ph, the “Buzz ng Bayan” will retain but they will change the hosts.

“Hindi ko pa alam kung tuloy, e. Ang alam ko, “Buzz Ng Bayan” pa rin, pero mag-iiba lang ng hosts,” the insider said.

According to the first source, there were still no concrete reason why “Buzz ng Bayan” was replaced by its original show.

The source also said that the Queen of All Media wanted to go back on the Sunday talk show and she has thought for it for a long time.

Is the Buzz and Buzz ng Bayan different shows. For me, Buzz ng Bayan is just a reformatted The Buzz. So the legacy of The Buzz as the longest running showbiz oriented shows has not changed. Buzz ng Bayan is still a facce of The Buzz. So reformat lang ulit sila.

I think it's partly because of Wowowin. Kailangan na naman ata nilang mag-reformat/revamp para at least makipag-sabayan with a Sunday variety show.

What’s “susunod” – delivered ala Boy Abunda – for “The Buzz”?

ABS-CBN’s long-running Sunday showbiz talk show “The Buzz” aired its last yesterday. Abunda, one of the show’s pioneering hosts, along with Kris Aquino, was emotional as he explained that the program was bidding adieu after sixteen years.

“Mula April 12 wala na po ‘The Buzz,’” he said.

“Hindi ako magkukunwari na hindi ako nasasaktan. It’s very painful dahil naging karelasyon namin kayo for 16 years … pero ‘yung desisyon na mawala pansamantala ay isang desisyong kailangan at tama.”

“In denial ako kasi akala ko pag ang desisyon ay kailangan at tama ay hindi masakit.

“Napakahirap magpaalam sa isang show na bahagi na po ng aking buhay.”

He went on to mention some of his most unforgettable interviews in the show, including those with his co-host Kris. He also gave credit to those who work behind the scenes and the celebrities who became part of “The Buzz,” such as former co-hosts KC Concepcion, Charlene Gonzales, Cristy Fermin, Jobert Sucaldito, John Lapus, Phoemela Baranda, among others.

“Ang tanong bakit kayo mawawala sa ere kahit pansamantala?” Abunda said.

“Nagbago na po kami… we have evolved into different people today. Nag-iba ang maraming bagay, ang mga tao sa likod ng ‘The Buzz,’ …. Pati kayo nagbago na. A lot of things have changed. Nagbago na ang pag-uusap… The world has changed at ang pamamaraan ng showbiz news reporting ay nagbago na rin po.

“We want to take a few steps backward….”

“Maraming nang naganap sa mundong ito. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit pansamantalang kami mawawala sa ere. Isang malaking pagbabago ang inyong aabangan. Talk-showbiz genre is not going to die.

“It hurts to say good bye pero ang ating pangako, mawawala man ngayon ang ‘The Buzz’ magbabalik pa rin kami,” he continued.

“Maaaring we will come back individually or as a group but the showbiz news genre will continue.

“’Yun ang dahilan kung bakit napagkaisipan ay best way is stop today and come back strong and be the best.

“God has a way of breaking your heart in order to be whole again,” he added.

The veteran host ended his speech with the quote, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

In an official statement, ABS-CBN said that the show will “reinvent to start anew.”

“The program recognizes the evolution of showbiz news reporting, and to cope with it, ‘The Buzz’ deems it a necessity to reinvent to start anew,” the statement said in part.

A consistent top rater, “The Buzz’s” farewell surprised its loyal following, with many taking to social media to express their shock. Both [#]TheBuzz[/#] and Boy Abunda trended nationwide.

On Twitter, @rena_reyna posted: “I get updates of my favourite actors and actresses sa [#]TheBuzz[/#] lang! Bakit mawawala?! [#]TFCsg[/#]”

Janeypetals @mjpetallana also said on Twitter: “Gulat ako sa [#]thebuzz[/#] ang hirap kayang tanggapin. Our Sunday viewing habit will never be the same again... :-(”

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s film production company, Star Cinema proves once again that as far as playdates go, Black Saturday is gold.

Even against giant Hollywood flick, “Fast and Furious VII,” the last of the hit franchise powered by Vin Diesel and the late lamented Paul Walker, the Lopez-owned film company’s “You’re My Boss” reportedly raked in P25 million at the box office on its opening last April 4.

Coming on the heels of Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo’s huge “Crazy Beautiful You,” which garnered a whopping P162 million at the tills, Toni Gonzaga and Coco Martin’s rom-com roused the bakasyonistas who trooped to the theaters to see the film, directed by Antoinette Jadaone, the current toast of the indie community for the record-breaking indie winner “The Thing Called Tadhana.”

“You’re My Boss” is a role-reversal comedy, with top-level executive Toni playing assistant to Coco in a desperate act to close a huge deal.

For the past several years, Star Cinema has been scoring hits with their Black Saturday releases, such as “Babe I Love You,” “My Doctor Kwak” (2011), “It Takes a Man and a Woman” (2013) and last year’s “Da Possessed.”

After 15 years, showbiz talk show “The Buzz” will temporarily go off the air and will be relaunched soon.

Boy Abunda, together with co-hosts Kris Aquino and Toni Gonzaga, announced the show’s cancellation on Sunday, saying that the April 5 episode will be its last.

“I am not going to pretend that I am not hurting or bleeding inside. It is very painful. You have been my partner for [15] years. It’s very hard, it’s difficult,” Abunda said.

He said that the reason for temporarily canceling the show is to adapt to changes. He also vowed that they will come back stronger.

“We have changed…. We have evolved into different people today. A lot of things have changed. The people behind ‘The Buzz’ have changed and even you (audience) have changed,” he said.

“Showbiz news is here to stay. We may come back individually or as a group, I don’t know. The showbiz talk show genre is not going to die, it will continue and we will come back. We have all agreed that the best way is to stop today and come back strong and be the best of what we can be,” Abunda added.

He thanked the show’s fans for their undying support during the past 15 years.

“Thank you very much Philippines and the whole world for making Buzz happen,” Abunda told the show’s audience.

In its official statement, ABS-CBN said that the show’s cancellation is a recognition of the changing landscape in showbiz news reporting.

“The program recognizes the evolution in showbiz news reporting and to cope with it, The Buzz deems it necessary step to reinvent (and) to start anew. Showbiz news will never die, the showbiz talk show genre remains,” it read.

According to ABS-CBN Corporate Communication head Kane Ochoa, the time slot previously held by The Buzz will be temporarily occupied by “Kapamilya Mega Blockbusters.”

The Buzz first aired on June 13, 1999 with Abunda, Ricky Lo and John Lapus as its first hosts. It became the second longest running showbiz talk show after GMA 7’s Startalk.

PHOTO: BORROWED FROM THE BUZZ 15 INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT

Panimula ng veteran TV host, “Opo, mga kaibigan, I’m confirming to you that this is our last show.

“April 12, simula next Sunday, wala na po kayong mapapanood na The Buzz, but let me explain...”

Ani Boy, “It’s very painful dahil naging karelasyon namin kayo for 16 years…

"We’ve been together for a long time, and it’s hard, it’s difficult."

THE DECISION TO CANCEL THE SHOW. Bago pa man umere ang The Buzz ngayong araw, may ganitong mensahe na sa Instagram account ng show: “It's gonna be an exciting and difficult episode.

Dagdag pa ni Boy, “This is not just about me.

"This is not just about Kris and Toni on The Buzz.

“This is about the writers, producers, segment producers, cameramen.

“Why are you being cancelled? Why are you going off the air?

“Ito ho ang paliwanag mga kaibigan...

    “Nagbago na ho kami.

"Yung aming mga writers ngayon ay headwriters na. Yung mga headwriters po ay creative managers na.

“Yung aming mga executive producers ay mga business unit heads na, ay head na ng ilang department dito sa ABS-CBN.

“We have evolved into different people today.

“Naiba na po ang maraming bagay.

"Nagbago na po ang mga tao sa likod ng The Buzz.

"Pati kayo po ay nagbago na.

“Kung noon po ay 20 years old, ngayon kayo ay 36.

"Kung noon ay dalaga, ngayon ay may asawa na.

"Kung noon may anak, siguro ngayon ay lola na.

“Kung noon ay 50, ngayon ay pushing 70.

“A lot of things have changed with you.

“Idagdag natin diyan mga kaibigan yung pagbabago ng pamamaraan ng ating pag-uusap.

"Noon ang panliligaw ay personal, ngayon ay puwede ng text.

“Ang mga OFW families ay Skype na kung mag-usap.

“In other words, marami na ang naganap sa mundong ito. The world has changed.

“At ang pamamaraan ng news reporting, and that includes showbiz news reporting, ay nabago na rin po.

"Ito ang dahilan kung bakit pansamantala kami ay mawawala sa ere.

“We want to take a few steps backward para makita namin nang mas malinaw kung sino kami, nasa'n kami at nasa'n na po kayo.

"Para sa aming pagbabalik ay isang malaking pagbabago po ang iyong aabangan.

“I know this is a logical explanation. I know this makes a lot of sense, but it hurts.

"Because it hurts to say goodbye."
  • continuation...

SHOWBIZ NEWS HERE TO STAY. May pahiwatig naman si Boy na mawawala man sa ere ang The Buzz, maaaring magbalik sila sa ibang pangalan, magkasama man silang tatlo nina Kris at Toni, o individually.

Saad niya, “Pero ito po ang aming pangako, mawawala man ngayong araw ang The Buzz, magbabalik po kami.

"Because showbiz news [is] here to stay.

“And the talk show genre is here to stay.

“Maaaring we will come back individually or as a group, hindi ko po alam… but showbiz news, the talk show genre is not going to die.

“It’s going to continue. At magbabalik po kami.

“Yun po ang dahilan kung bakit napagkaisahan naming lahat, na it’s the best way to stop today.

“And then come back stong and be the best of what we can be.”

Bago magtapos sa kanyang mensahe may isang kasabihang ibinahagi si Boy: "Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened."

Dagdag niya, “Maraming salamat, Pilipinas, at buong mundo for making Buzz happen.”

ABS-CBN STATEMENT. Ayon naman sa pahayag ng pamunuan ng ABS-CBN, kailangang makipagsabayan at i-reinvent ng The Buzz upang makapagsimula ng mas maganda pang showbiz talk show.

Narito ang buong pahayag ng istasyon:

    11111480_1415569378751022_574679394_n.jpg

IT'S BOY ABUNDA... AGAIN.

MANILA – ABS-CBN’s showbiz-oriented talk show “The Buzz” will temporarily be going off the air after its 16-year run.

This was announced by co-host Boy Abunda on the show on Sunday.

Noting that its hosts, producers and audience have all evolved, Abunda said they have decided “to stop today and then come back strong and be the best of what we can be.”

“The world has changed and ang pamamaraan ng news reporting, and that includes showbiz news reporting, ay nabago na rin po. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit pansamantala kami ay mawawala sa ere. Para sa aming pagbabalik ay isang malaking pagbabago ang inyong aabangan,” he said.

Despite this, Abunda admitted that a part of him “died today.”

“Hindi po ako magkukunwari na okay ako. Hindi po ako magkukunwari na hindi ako nasasaktan. Hindi ako magkukunwari na I am not hurting, that I am not bleeding inside because I am. It’s very painful dahil naging karelasyon po namin kayo for 16 years… we’ve been together for a long time. Pero yung decision po na mawala muna pansamantala sa ere ang ‘The Buzz’ ay isang decision na kailangan at tama,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abunda vowed that they will return because “showbiz news is here to stay and the talk show genre is here to stay.”

“We will come back individually or as group—hindi ko po alam. But the showbiz news talk show genre is not going to die. It’s going to continue. Yun po ang dahilan kung bakit napagkaisahan naming lahat that the best way is to stop today. And then come back strong and be the best of what we can be,” he said.

No date was announced as to when “The Buzz” will return on air.

MANILA, Philippines – After 15 years of being on the air, ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “The Buzz” aired its final episode.

According to Abunda, who announced the show’s cancellation with co-hosts Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda, “The Buzz” will go off the air temporarily.

“Mula April 12, wala na po kayong mapapanood na ‘The Buzz’,” said co-host Boy Abunda during the show’s April 5 episode.

Hindi po ako magkukunwari na I’m not hurting, I’m not bleeding inside because I am. It’s very painful. It’s very, very painful dahil naging karelasyon naming kayo (audience) for 15 years.”

The cancellation, he said, is for the show to reinvent itself and to adapt to changes on how showbiz news is reported.

“We want to take a few steps backwards para makita namin ng mas malinaw kung sino kami, nasaan kami at nasaan na kayo,” Abunda explained.

But he added, “Mawawala man ngayong araw ang ‘The Buzz,’ magbabalik kami because news is here to stay and the talk show genre is here to stay.”

“Maaaring we will come back individually or as a group. Hindi ko po alam. Maaaring si Kris, si Toni, ako ay magbabalik. But the showbiz news talk show genre is not going to die. It’s going to continue. At magbabalik po kami. Yun po ang dahilan kung bakit namin napagkaisahan naming lahat is the best way is to stop today and start strong.”

ABS-CBN issued an official statement regarding the cancelation of "The Buzz." The statement reads: "After more than 15 years of unparalleled credibility as Philippine television's leading showbiz-oriented talk show, 'The Buzz' takes a break after its April 5,2015 episode. The program recognizes the evolution in showbiz news reporting, and to cope with it, 'The Buzz' deems it a necessary step to reinvent to start anew. Showbiz news will never die. The showbiz talk genre remains."

It added, "Since the program began, 'The Buzz' has gained the authority of being the premiere source of truthful and balanced entertainment news for the Filipino audience worldwide. As the program bids farewell for now, The Buzz would like to thank its loyal viewers for the support they have given the show in its entire run. See you again soon."

“The Buzz” was launched on ABS-CBN in June 1999 with Abunda as its host. He was later on accompanied by a number of co-hosts, including Cristy Fermin, KC Concepcion, Ruffa Gutierrez, Charlene Gonzales, among others. It was reformatted into “Buzz ng Bayan” in 2013 with Carmina Villaroel and Janice de Belen but was later re-launched as “The Buzz” a few months after with Gonzaga and Aquino.

Its almost 16-year run makes “The Buzz” the second longest-running showbiz talk shows and one of the longest-running shows in Philippine TV; GMA-7’s showbiz talk show “Startalk” has been on air since 1995.

After 16 years, showbiz-oriented talk show The Buzz is bidding a temporary goodbye to its Sunday viewers.

The announcement that the show is going off-air was made by co-host Boy Abunda on the April 5 episode saying that, “Opo I’m confirming to you that this is our last show. Mula April 12 wala na po kayong mapapanood na The Buzz.”

Admitting that a part of him “died today,” the King of Talk shared that he was initially in denial about the show’s ending.

“Hindi po ako magkukunwari na okay ako. Hindi po ako magkukunwari na hindi ako nasasaktan. Hindi ako magkukunwari na I am not hurting, that I am not bleeding inside because I am. It’s very painful dahil naging karelasyon po namin kayo for 16 years, ang live audience, ang mga taong nasa kanilang tahanan and ang ating audiences around the world through The Filipino Channel we’ve been together for a long time. Pero ‘yung decision po na mawala muna pansamantala sa ere ang The Buzz ay isang decision na kailangan at tama,” he said.

The show’s cancellation, according to Boy, was spurred by the need to “adapt to changes.” However, despite this sudden announcement, the seasoned host assured that they are coming back “stronger”.

“We have changed…. We have evolved into different people today. A lot of things have changed. The people behind The Buzz have changed and even you (audience) have changed,” he said.

“Showbiz news is here to stay. We may come back individually or as a group, I don’t know. The showbiz talk show genre is not going to die, it will continue and we will come back. We have all agreed that the best way is to stop today and come back strong and be the best of what we can be,” Boy added.

ABS-CBN has released an official statement on The Buzz, which is as follows:

“After more than 15 years of unparalleled credibility as Philippine television's leading showbiz-oriented talk show, The Buzz takes a break after its April 5, 2015 episode. The program recognizes the evolution in showbiz news reporting, and to cope with it, The Buzz deems it a necessary step to reinvent, to start anew. Showbiz news will never die. What happens if Wowowin doesn't actually rate and ABS brings The Buzz back. Will that be even more embarrassing? lol

Wowowin is a totally different show. And usually GMA is not very good in "innovating" they're good at copying. Look what abs did: they created willy, the buzz, kris realitv, teleseryes like forevermore. and much more. There's not much to fear kc ang wala sa gma ay mga talented team from abs! lol goodness.

Don't tell me magtatapat kayo ng game show dyan sa timeslot na yan. If ever, im like 300% sure na kung gagayahin nyo lang si willy, it will flop just cause..walang originality e.
  • putting originality aside, coz lets face it mahirap ng maging original sa tv this days dahil laging may similarities ang mga tv shows kahit foreign shows minsan pare-pareho narin. what about kung gayahin ng abs ang format ng The View or The Talk na may panel of hosts just talking about showbiz in general! although nagawa narin naman ng abs yan dati with showbiz inside report. wonder how long they gonna put the buzz to rest? sana not for long!
