    Review:

This movie features Bea Alonzo (Basha) and John Lloyd Cruz (Popoy).
The film was directed by the award-winning director Cathy Garcia-Molina and released under Star Cinema.

I always watch this movie whenever I'm sad or I want to cry. Their love story began strong and perfect. But something went wrong, Basha got bored and wanted to have some space. Popoy was too emotional when Basha told him that she is no longer happy. He thought that it was the end of the world for him.

Slowly, Popoy moved on and realized that there's still life after Basha left him. On the other hand, Basha met the first new person in her new life and that is Derek, as Mark. Mark invited Basha to their firm, and Basha tried it and started her new life.

This movie has a lot of realization in life that made them an all time favorite Filipino Movie. It will make you think that People really change, but life goes on.

There are also a lot of famous lines from this movie, and one of my favorite was from Basha, "Sana ako parin, ako nalang, ako nalang ulit", this part really made me cry. Maja Salavador played as a singer and the new girlfriend of Popoy, her part was also hearthbreaking, knowing that she just became a rebound for Basha.

The ending was really good, they both wanted to give their love a one more chance, but time is not ready yet so they decided not to.
Basha focused on her career as an Architect, after 2 years Popoy came back from Qatar, he asked Basha if she is free today, so they could go out for a dinner and Basha say's "Yes, and tomorrow night, and the night after that" and they both smiled before the film ends.

Review: Do Come?o ao Fim is a movie that has grown on me. It is a story about a relationship that has been considered taboo by most societies. It's not only about a same-sex relationship but it is a movie that talks about a romantic relationship between brothers. In other words, this movie bravely depicts a story about an incestuous connection between two male siblings.

The film opens with the younger half Thomas born with his eyes closed. The mom remained unperturbed by this fact saying that Thomas will open his eyes when he wants to and is ready to see the world. This small detail contributed to Thomas' free-spirited attitude and strong belief in freedom and free will. Thomas opens his eyes to see his brother Francisco who's already five years old.

Thomas and Francisco are half-brothers born of different fathers. The brothers grow together and has been once said to have a relationship to close to be merely brothers. Several years later, their mother dies. In the process, they develop a relationship.

This is a low-budgeted film about freedom and love in the most unusual of people. It blurs the fine line of the limitations of who to love as dedicated by religion and the society. Most of the scenes are masterfully shot in Brazil and Argentina which adds to the melancholic-at-times and happy-at-times atmosphere prevalent throughout the movie. This movie challenges the beliefs that we have been holding for centuries.

It's a poignant representation of a carefree love governed by nothing but free will.

    Review:

This 2011 American romantic comedy film is directed by Will Gluck and starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.

The movie is very catchy, not just because of Justin T as the lead actor.
It is not the usual Love Story/Comedy about boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy finds girl again and stuff.

This is really a good movie about love and sex. The movie is Rated R, so no no for underage. There are a lot of sexy scenes that are not suitable for very young audiences. Justin T and Mila Kunis were extremely hot, and funny.

    Review:

    Info (from AsianWiki).

I am a fan of Japanese movies because the stories are light and always imaginative so I'm always on a look out for new and interesting ones.
This one in particular might sound like a "teenage love" flick but instead it's literally a pig in the school :glee: However, there's actually more to it and you'll eventually like this, and that's for sure!

So Hoshi Sensei, one day, came up with the idea of bringing a piglet in his class and let the students take care of it so that they can eat it when the school ends. Eventually, the students are enamored to "P-Chan" and even debated on whether to eat her or be sent to the butcher.

This is a very heartwarming story which explores and aims to educate us on how are food and life is connected. The script is intelligently written and the acting was perfect enough to stir your emotions, especially the kids', very realistic...

A woman whose legs was chewed of by a killer whale starts of a relationship with a street fighter who treats her relatively bad but is occasionally helpful and when their romance starts to grow.

I'm still in awe after this movie is released, Rust and Bone is heartbreakingly endearing through Marion Cotillard's oh so tremendous performance and with her love interest Matthias Schoenaerts, they make an evident and effective chemistry between them, and with the combine effort of Jacques Aduiard the director of 'The Prophet', this film is nothing with it's lead.

While the performances from the cast is leading and the strengths, the film however is ambitious, trying to obtain the vision it wants to express, but then the film lacks focus, it's drowning with many ideas, the film has too many to say and that makes it unable to compel completely.

But then you can't get wrong with the movie, Although ambitious and misleading, Jacques Audiard's Et Rouille et d' os or Rust in Bone in English is bolstered with the towering performances from Cotillard and Schoenaerts, and that's what makes this film beautiful and compelling.

This film has got to be one of those films that never get old. Al Pacino here played the retired “blind” Lt.Colonel Frank Slade who hired the young Charlie(Chris O’ Donnell) to accompany him in his rendezvous to New York – a thanksgiving weekend that led to some life affirming moments.
Pacino’s performance here was truly one for the records. A singular performance that an actor of his caliber could only pull. He was the torchbearer of this film with an ample support from young O’ Donnell whose screen charisma’s too much to deny. This was a film that delivers good story, amazing actors and a heart that knows its way with the audience.

    Movie Title: Son of God
    Year: 2014
    Genre: Religious
    Rating: 3/10

    son_of_god_xlg.jpg

Produced by Survivor producer Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, Son of God is an epic Biblical drama based on the life of Jesus Christ.

Mary, a young woman betrothed to Joseph receives a visit from an angel telling her that she will bear a child. Joseph, upon learning that Mary is pregnant initially shuns her, but later on accepts her. She gives birth to her son, Jesus in a manger in Bethlehem where they are visited by the magi. Fast forward to 30 years later when, Jesus begins his ministry by gathering his disciples. While unbeknownst to him, the Pharisees and Sadducees are plotting what would be his known fate.

The hardest part of telling a story that has been told countless of times is to find ways of sustaining its audience. All the more since the story being told is one that we have heard in various ways growing up. Somehow, one expects that Son of God will offer something new and interesting to the table. Sadly, the film fails in that aspect.

The footage used in the movie itself is rehashed, having first seen the light of day in the History miniseries The Bible.

The film opens with a montage that depicts key points of the Old Testament, notably the Story of Creation and that of Noah’s Ark, before fast forwarding to the story of Mary, then jumps again to the height of Jesus’ ministry: his passion, death and resurrection. Given these jumps, the movie seems a bit disjointed. It is after all, spliced from a ten-part mini-series and squeezed into this.

The film contends itself with the usual Christian Life Education stories we have heard in Grade 4 and Grade 5. It reduces itself to signposts in Jesus’ lives that we are familiar with: the Annunciation, the birth in the manger, the Last Supper, the Agony in the Garden, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection among others. While the movie admittedly tries to be like a sanitized version of the Passion of the Christ, it hardly provokes any emotion as the movie sticks to formula. Heck even the dialogue has become cliché, the most obvious being “Thomas, stop doubting” as Jesus was proving a point to his known doubtful disciple.

The computer generated effects are a nod to the television origins of the film. Simply put, they translate badly to the big screen. Thus we have a poorly executed Jesus walking on water scene, even the shots of Roman-era Jerusalem scream a lack of realness. Quite honestly, even other History documentaries such as Life After People and America: The Story of Us have even better CGIs than Son of God.

On the plus side, Diogo Morgado puts in an acceptable performance as Jesus Christ, given the limitations of the role. He does register as good eye candy for girls and gays alike.

Given that the film clocks in a lengthy two hour and forty plus minutes, and that it gives us a retelling of something we have become accustomed with, Son of God does sound like a good penitence for the upcoming Holy Week.

Review: Nimer is a Palestenian student with astounding ambitions who lives in the West Bank. He dreams of a better life than what he and his family have. One night, after sneaking through Tel Aviv, Nimer meets Roy, a lwayer from Israel. As the fate would have it, the two young men would fall in love.

Their love is tested by the realities of living in a Palestenian culture who takes his sexuality against him and an Israeli culture who takes his nationality against him. This story explores love in times of a war crisis between two nations.

This Israeli movie makes a wonderful job tackling the complexities of the life between an Israeli and a Palestenian ***** Romeo and Juliet. Israel being the Montagues and Palestine, the Capulets

The dark undertones gave so much color to the life of Roy and Nimer as they try to fight for the love that they have for each other despite two prevailing societies that tries to break them apart.

    Review:

    Info (from Wikipedia):

Imagine being born in a very large and poor family, with Cerebral Palsy and you only get to control your left foot, what would you do? That's a certain predicament that an average person cannot fathom but Christy Brown (Daniel Day Lewis) lived through and dealt with it all of his lifetime. I first saw this movie when I was studying in college and had to write a reaction paper for it so honestly, my review would be similar to that I wrote 10 years ago. :glee:

As a young child, Christy was convinced he's not going to be a burden to his family so he tried to be as normal as he can. He would be seen playing with his brothers and some neighbor kids or helping with household chores. I like the part where they don't have enough coals to warm the house, he orchestrated a plan to "borrow" some from the coal dealers. It clearly show that he's been given the right freedom to choose for himself and do the things he wanted to in spite of him. His mother, Bridget Brown (Brenda Fricker) has always see him just as "normal" as her other children contrary to the family's patriarch who never believed in him. However, that changed when Christy was able to write "mother" using his left foot.

Through out the movie, you will realize that Christy is indeed a normal and even gifted person who simply happened to be handicapped. He wrote books and poems, behave like an average Irishman (very enamored to Whisky), did some paintings and even attempted to commit suicide when he found out that his first love is already engaged to someone else. All these were perfectly portrayed in the film by Daniel Day Lewis, I could really see and sympathize with Christy Brown through him, plus he got away with the strong Dublin accent hence he bagged the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

In the end, My Left Foot is a stirring and inspiring bio-drama which showcases a very determined individual struggling to fulfill his dreams. The film certainly have that distinct compassion but it's not patronizing sympathy. Too bad it lost to Driving Miss Daisy but after watching this movie again for the nth time, I still feel that this deserved the Best Picture more (I haven't seen Driving Miss Daisy though :hiya: ).

    Movie Title: Nine Months
    Year: 1995
    Genre: Comedy
    Rating: 6.5 out of 10
    nine_months.jpg

Nine Months is the story of Samuel Faulkner (Hugh Grant,) a child psychologist who's gotten her girlfriend (Julianne Moore) pregnant that turns his life into oblivion. Fearing the responsibility and the thought of raising a family, Sam gets advises from different people that led to one thing - he's got to face the inevitable. Soon enough, he finally realized that it's not just about him - but also his girlfriend, his child and the responsibility that comes with it. This was the first movie that I've seen from Hugh Grant and I was like less that ten then. Hugh Grant's just extremely funny here and extremely charismatic as well. The story isn't that much to chew on as it's just clearly a flat out story but I guess the main selling point here are its actors. The actors esp Hugh Grant and Robin Williams are just hillarious. I guess, when the film makes you laugh - either the "good laugh" or the "ridiculous laugh" - there's still a part of you that enjoys it. Nine Months was my childhood favorite, though not extremely good, watching it over and over - it takes me back to that place. If the movie ain't worth a thing, I don't think it would have that effect.

"Daijobu 3 Kumi" depicts the interactions between new teacher Shinnosuke Akao, who was born without arms and legs, and the 28 students in his 5th grade class, told from the vantage point of school board member Yusaku Shiraishi

When the trailer was released, my interest towards this inspirational film grew, and this is my first time watching a Japanese Film, I'm not into Asian Cinema, but this movie doesn't exceeds my expectations but instantly felt blank.

Nobody's Perfect directed by Ryuichi Hiroki, is a simple film with a handicapped lead and with bunch of schook kids, the movie could have been better, if isn't too much safe, It's the kind of film that is filled with cliches and too generic.

But the Performance from Hirotada Ototake was believable and is enough to gain symphaty from the viewers and Taichi Kokobun is worthy of the supporting lead, but then besides it, It's an ordinary movie.

Review: To consider an animated film as a non-English film can be stretching especially that I managed to watch ALL Case Closed movies in two sittings this year. I am a big fan of the franchise and this one did disappoint me a bit. For starters, I was hoping to get a glimpse of the Black Organization but there was none.

This movie could have made a four-part series in its television run. The good thing about the movie is that it featured the football fanaticism of the Japanese and the stadium was animated just as it looked like in real life. The story line is quite a stretch because it resonated a typical Filipino drama with everyone very much connected and can be tied up in the end.

It's also predictable that Conan will be able to solve the case in the end and this time takes credit for his genius deduction. I hate every time he pulls off a Sleeping Kogoro.

The Eleventh Striker talks about a supposed on-the-rise football star who seeks revenge for the death of a young boy he is acquainted with. At first, it was presumed that he seeks revenge because of his accident but it was later on revealed that it was to get back at Kogoro Mouri for impeding the ambulance from getting to the hospital because of the outpouring football fans.

    THE+CROODS+2.jpg

Coming from the makers of How To Train Your Dragon and Rise of The Guardians, Dreamworks Animation this year gave us another average animated movie but with a hint of heart, The Croods wonderful opening sequence sells that point in a very morbid yet charming way. We then meet the lovely cave girl Eep and her family who are soon set out on a journey that will change their lives forever.

It's rushed, there's no real stakes even for an animated film and some of the comedy falls flat but thanks to the solid voice work, a surprisingly heartfelt second half and animation that takes full advantage of the film's Stone Age setting, I enjoyed "The Croods" much more than I thought I was going to. It just looked like silliness from start to finish, which is what it turned out to be, but it does it in such a way that it almost seems strikingly fresh

The Croods tells the story of the world's first family road trip. When their cave is destroyed, the Crood family must embark on a comedy adventure into strange and spectacular territory in search of a new home. As if patriarch Grug (Cage) didn't already have enough to handle, it goes from bad to worse when they encounter an imaginative nomad named Guy (Reynolds.) With Guy's help the Croods conquer their fear of the outside world and discover that they have exactly what it takes to survive - each other.

Visually dazzling and filled with hilarious slapstick, The Croods is the most enjoyable film of the year so far. Unfortunately, some of the added sentimentality drags it down but the film pulls it out of sap territory enough for the film to offer some pleasant family togetherness.Visually dazzling and filled with hilarious slapstick, The Croods is the most enjoyable film of the year so far. Unfortunately, some of the added sentimentality drags it down but the film pulls it out of sap territory enough for the film to offer some pleasant family togetherness.

The Croods contains a good cast and tight writing for the characters, but the overly familiar plot don't make it as appealing like other animated films. It's aimed toward kids and they'll likely have more fun with it for it contains a colorful world, cartoon like jokes, and is energetic. Adults can have fun with it, but not as much kids will, Great story about discovering new wonders, Fun family-friendly adventure, It was witty, funny, adventurous, emotional and lots of fun.

The Croods is an energetic, fast paced, family fun movie that will definitely entertain children of all ages. The Croods was directed by Chris Sanders, the guy who directed, Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon. You can easily tell this film was directed by Chris Sanders just by the animation design, The Croods has the same character and color designs as, Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, but unfortunately his previous films, was my personal favorites, The Croods however is a great animation film but lacks magic

The Croods is a movie that offers great family filled entertainment and stunning visual 3D effects, I didn't expect much from the trailers for this film, but I knew that I wanted to see this. So with not very much high expectations in mind, I was then treated with some beautiful scenes from the film and some very well thought out screenplay, The Croods might not be fresh as it should, but it is much more entertaining than I expected.

Genius visuals and dialogues - two things about How To Train Your Dragon that I thought of it highly and even mentioned that it's one of the best films of 2010. This was a story about the Vikings and well- the Dragons. Hiccup was the young scruffy son of a viking chief who's been a disappointment because of his seemingly weak appearance until he found a young dragon whom he called Toothless. From that moment, Hiccup and Toothless were inseperable and together - both developed a friendship without barriers and ultimately saving the town from its destruction. I just really love this film! When I first watched it about three years ago, I predicted that it'd get a nod at the Oscars the following year and it did. It' just so sad that it didn't win because it's just a perfectly made film - technical wise and story-wise. It's just too bad that it went against the final installment of Toy Story. Nevertheless, the saga of Hiccup and Toothles definitely reminded audience that friendship goes in so many levels. This was a film made especially for kids but kids alike could definitely learn about a thing or two from it.

    Review:
If you are a fan of fairies and pixie dusts, "The Pirate Fairy" is a good movie for you. This yet another Disney movie is about Tinker Bell (Mae Whitman) [and a bunch of other fairies] and her friend Zarina (Christina Hendricks) who stole an important Blue Pixie Dust to help the pirates led by James (Tom Hiddleston) to make their ship fly to Neverland.

The funny thing about this movie is because it is the prequel of the very popular Peter Pan, the movie about Neverland, Peter Pan (of course), Tinker Bell, and Captain Hook (yes he is James). Despite of being a direct-to-DVD film, The Pirate Fairy is a great movie and indeed suitable for kids, and kids at heart, LOL. It has a good musicality and mind you, the voice of the great and handsome Loki is very charming here <3. Also, it includes many good points and lesson about friendship and teamwork which is very suitable for all audiences, haha. And lastly, you really don’t want to miss the singing voice of Tom Hiddleston (still a villain here hahaha).

Set in a distant future where robots are integrated in human society, the film tells the story of Detective Del Spooner and his unpopular opinion and attitude about these androids. Influenced by a tragic accident, his hatred towards them compromises his investigation of the apparent suicide of Dr. Alfred Lanning. Spooner believes that the doctor was murdered by a new NS-5 robot. But how could these be when these machines are governed by these principles:
    1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
    2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
    3. A robot may not injure its own kind and defend its own kind unless it is interfering with the first or second rule.
But are these laws truly unbreakable? With the society’s complacency and dependency on these products of artificial intelligence, will these robots be able to finally take over the world?

I rarely watch movies with Will Smith in it. A paper on this film, however, was included in the list of requirements for one of my classes in college a few years back. It's funny how I re-watched it last month with my college blockmates! We ended up discussing what we wrote in our papers.

Will Smith isn't that bad here, to be honest. Its nice mix of action, soul and brains also makes it enjoyable to watch. Granted, some ideas aren't that fresh. But what do we expect from movies in which robots and computers go crazy and try to enslave the human race?
