What materials do i need in communication arts course?

Please guys, I need help, especially to all CA students out there. Give me some list that I will provide. Like camera for photography (Canon or Nikon: Specific Brand) and etch. By the way, I am planning to pursue my studies at USTe and I want to take USTET this coming examination day. I really hope that I will be a real TOMASINO SOON. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Hi CA graduate here :) Here's what you need:
    1. A DSLR that can take videos (Canon 500D and higher or Nikon D3100 and higher) It depends on you if you want to use either Canon or Nikon. My personal choice would be Nikon. Buying additional lenses is optional but is recommended.
    2. If Sir Jay Javier is your professor at Photography (4th year) then you need to buy an SLR/Film Camera. One camera costs around P3,000-5,000 and you can get them at Hidalgo Street, Quiapo. REMINDER: You still need to buy film for the camera and pay for the developing of the film. Pray that Sir Jay isn't your prof :rotflmao:
    3. A very powerful laptop that can edit photos AND videos. (I7 or I8, Quad core, 64 bit, 16gb ram, NVIDIA Geforce powered)
    4. A microphone that can be plugged into your camera. I prefer a Rode Shotgun Mic. Trust me, you'll need this :)
    5. An external hard drive to store all of your videos and other projects (either 500gb or 1tb)
    6. SD Memory Card reader
    7. LOTS OF USBs!

You don't need to buy all of these as you can borrow them from your friends/classmates but it would greatly help if you did (borrowing these can also be a hassle). Plus, these are stuff that you can use AFTER graduating so it's really worth it.
  • Additional tip:

By right now (or during the summer before the 1st semester begins) you should start studying the basics of Photography, Videography/Cinematography, and the editing of audio, photos, and videos.
Hahahahaha. By the way ask ko na din kung ano-ano yung mga subjects na included.:lol::lol:

Expect doing a lot of group projects and weekly presentations :) As for the courses, I'm sorry I can't help you on that as they changed the CA curriculum last year :( But here's a list of SOME of the major courses that I took during my time (2009-2013 old curriculum):

1st sem - Introduction to Communication
    2nd sem - Communication Theories

    2nd year
    1st sem - Marketing Principles
    2nd sem - Broadcasting Principles

    3rd year
TV Production, Radio Production, Theater, Scriptwriting, Advertising 1 and 2, Retorika, Communication and Socio-Cultural Change, Political Dynamics, Thesis (I forgot which sem we took them)

    4th year
Public Relations 1 and 2 (1st sem and 2nd sem), Integrated Marketing Communication (1st sem), Film Theories (1st sem), Filmmaking (2nd sem), Film Photography (1st sem), Broadcasting Communication (2nd sem), Media Law (2nd sem), Desktop Publishing (1st sem) Thesis
Minsan pwede sila yayain kumain or uminom ;) 1st year and 2nd year petiks muna. Pagdating ng 3rd year hell na :) Pag 4th year nasa 9th circle of hell na kayo :rotflmao: Survival of the fittest na. Good luck! :D
  • Wow. Medyo nakakakaba po pala. Hahahahaha. Well, thank you po talaga ah?

Focus? Wala eh. Yun ang mahirap sa course natin. Pag tiningnan mo curriculum natin napakalawak. One one hand, pwede mo siyang tingnan as positve kasi madami kang alam. On the other hand naman, pwede mo tingnan na madami ka ngang alam pero wala kang specialty. Sa pangalan pa nga lang ng major eh: Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts. Wala tayong Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts Major in Broadcasting, Major in Advertising, Major in Public Relations, etc. na meron sa ibang schools. May tawag nga sa mga aming mga CA students eh, "Jack of all trades, master of none."

More on writing sila eh. Sa CA more on producing TVCs, Radio ads, presentation ng collaterals and marketing plans, etc.

    Good luck! :)

Hahahaha. Pansin ko nga. Parang napalawak talaga ng saklaw ng CA. Actually first choice ko ang CA then 2nd yung Journalism. I like writing especially for our school paper kasi editor-in-chief po ako dun but i want also to pursue my skills in something new like film making etch. Well, pagdating naman po sa work after mag-graduate eh madali po bang mai-apply yan sa field natin or i mean sa work? But for now siguro, i-pupush ko talaga yung CA kaya sobrang thankful po ako sa inyo to answer my questions. Salamat po and good luck and God bless you sa work :)

TS, CA grad din ako. :)
