Well, it is finally here after a couple of years (?) since it was launched, the new D-Max 2014 has arrived.

Its platform is shared with the Chevrolet Colorado, but its engine is still carried over from the previous generation (well, it is not equipped with VGT, according to below link)

  • the single cab is obviously for the FBBody/ aluminum market. at 700k. i think it's a real decent price.
  • same old engine, ang tagal na ng bagong engine sa ibang bansa, itong DMAX na ito bulok pa rin na makina nakalagay.

    old engine 4JK1-TC engine ang 2014 DMAX sa Pinas, non VGT pa rin, tsk tsk tsk
    newer engine 4JK1-TCX
    newest engine 3.0 VVGS Turbo sa maraming bansa

    ^ sabi daw ng IPC, dahil sa fuel issues kaya they retain the previous engine to be equipped sa new D-Max.
  • bakit naman yung mas modern engines ngayon eh OK naman sa "dirty" fuel sa Pinas. Many suspect na nag over production ang DMAX with that old engine kaya pinapaubos muna sa mga bansa gaya ng Pinas. and also, ang tingin ng mga taga Izuzu japan na cant afford na ang mga pinoy sa mas mataas na pricing ng VGT Dmax. And maybe, ISUZU thinks na basta na lang bibili si juan ng DMAX knowing the majority of consumers does not give a ***** sa engine specs dahil wala naman silang alam tungkol sa engine HP or torque or ride comfort, etc etc.

    A total lie. We already have euro 4 (ultra low sulfur) since 2012. I think, they just want to get rid of their jurassic era engines.

    technically, I guess, Isuzu retained the engine from the outgoing model has something to do with the quality of fuel that we have here in PH, and they want the D-Max to be fuel effcient as well.

    Powering the new D-Max are Isuzu's tried and tested 4JJ1-TC 3.0-liter common-rail direct-injection, turbocharged engine that produces 144hp and 294Nm of torque, and a new 4JK1-TC 2.5-liter CRDi, turbocharged mill that puts out 108hp and 280Nm of torque. Unfortunately--or fortunately, depending on how you look at it--these engines are still of Euro 2 specification and not Euro 5 like the ones sold in Thailand.

    Same platform/design and interiors but the engines are different. Chevy/Holden Colorado uses newly developed 2.5 & 2.8L diesel engines (if i'm right).

    B.S. They can tune their engine to accommodate euro 2 diesel just like what Hyundai/Kia did.

    Sea Oil used to import euro 5 diesel, then reverted to euro 3. UniOil is Euro 4. . Easter Petroleum is euro 4. Flying V is also euro 4. Petrol is now selling Euro 4 diesel. Chevron is to follow suit. Though, having euro 4 diesel fuel doesn't mean it is euro 4 emission compliant.

    Saw this one on display yesterday.

    Exterior :

    The front fascia looks good in personal.
    Shared the very same sexy lines with the Chevy Colorado.
    The cargo bed is huge compared to Strada and Hilux.

    Interior :

    The center console doesn't look that bad.
    The plastic used doesn't feel cheap.
    The leg room at the passengers side is terrible (pang bata lang kasya)
    No reverse camera.

  • ibig sabihin kung dirty fuel pala gamit ng pinas odi dapat tumitirik na yung mga diesel na bmw, mercedes, audi diba? mga euro 4 compliant mga yan. Dapat sumasakit na ulo ng PGA cars sa problem na ito kaso may napansin ka ba may na casa sa kanila coz of dirty fuel? wala pa ako nababalitaan. Besides most vgt powered vehicles like thee new sorento, santa fe, starex are already euro 4 compliant. If they weren't then malamang crdi nalang sila hanggang ngayon.
  • As stated in the news reports, and also by many posts here, the 3-liter engine is carried over from the previous model. But for the 2.5-liter unit, there's a new CRDi 4JK1-TC.

    Maybe we might find soon the same 2.5 liter CRDi engine in the next generation Isuzu Crosswind.

    I just wonder, and am hoping that hindi na yun magiging mausok para ma-"out of business" na yung mga anti-smoke belching boys in Makati.
