The Philippines is fast becoming a source of material for American automotive website Jalopnik.com. In August alone, the site picked up our story about the very first Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in the country (and why the owner bought one), as well as AutoIndustriya.com's story on the proliferation of fake Rota wheels.

Well, another story from the Philippines has reached the US website. This time, it's about a car that drove in the opposite direction on the northbound side of the Skyway. The video first went viral on Facebook and was posted by Joselino Luna on August 24.

According to Luna, the accident happened the day before, on August 23. As seen in the video, he was going toward Makati on the northbound lane when the errant car came barreling at him from the opposite direction in the same passing lane.

Who knew what the driver of the car was thinking at the time? Didn't he wonder why everyone else was going the other way? Or was he thinking that he was actually in the correct lane and that he was on the "shoulder"?

Anyway, the video ends just before the moment of impact (or so Luna claims), which is understandable since the camera was reportedly destroyed in the ensuing crash.

During the investigation after the crash, Luna noted that the driver of the car, whose name he did not mention, was "wasted," and that the car wasn't covered by a comprehensive insurance. Fortunately for Luna, though, he's still alive to tell and share the tale, thanks to the dashboard camera he bought online two years ago.

A dash cam is indeed a good investment, particularly for insurance purposes. You can even buy one from CD-R King from P1,580 to P1,880.

Sa ibang bansa mataas parusa pag drunk driving, minsan jailtime pa. Naalala ko pag graduate ko ng kolehiyo, merun nasagasaan ng drunk driver, female batchmate ko.

Yan din ang sinasabi ko sa mga reckless mag drive "kung ikaw nagpapakamatay ka, ikaw na lang ha, huwag mo kaming idamay".

Dapat talaga kinukulong ng mga 10 years ang nag da drunk driving, tapos pag nakapatay lifetime imprisonment.

Buhay ang kinukuha nila sa pagiging reckless nila.

I've tried driving while drunk about 5x already.

do not do it. and you heard me, DO NOT DO IT. it doesn't matter if you're still capable, conscious and morally awake; if you're tipsy, don't drive. sleep in your car for a few hours(park in a safe place, like a gasoline station), or crash in a friend's house. alcohol can give you the wrong kind of confidence, which can be a great danger to others... especially to you.

agree. and if you decide to get wasted: have a designated driver; take a cab/public transpo; if ever mag-iinuman sa isang bahay, dun na lang matulog.

buti kung yung lasing lang ang mabibiktima, minsan may ibang taong napipinsala.

Another major cause of road accidents. If drinking can't be avoided, at least bring someone who has the courage not to drink.

Driving even after drinking only a few drinks is dangerous. Alcohol can be traitorous and treacherous...

i wonder kung anong nangyari dun sa driver na nang-hit and run dun sa states. he confessed about what happened online (lasing daw sya then nabundol nya yung mama. tumakas sya sa aksidente tapos namatay yung biktima.) then the police arrested him. after that, wala ng balita.

Agreed. It is very irresponsible for one to drive under the influence (may it be alcohol or any substance that may impair senses and judgement).

I agree, tsaka ilang beses din inuulit kapag may napapabalitang ganyan pero di talaga mawawala mga lasenggerong pasaway ehh

uggghhhh, naalala ko din, 3-5 years ago lang yata, yung highschool classmate ko din, sa motor naman, galing kasi silang inuman, pinilit padin umuwi kahit may amats sila, anggaling pa naman nun magpatawa at masipag din :(

Wow, that is heartbreaking. I hope justice was served and yung lasenngong driver is already paying his dues in prison.

Di ko na alam kung ano na nangyari dun sa driver kung nakasuhan ba, wala nadin ako balita after the funeral eh :(

ito yung mas nakakalungkot - may ibang taong nadadamay. sira ang future ng lahat ng involved sa mga kasong/aksidenteng lasing yung driver, tapos may namamatay.
