Shadowed by the news of Andre Iguodala signing with a division rival, the Los Angeles Clippers made their own move today, re-signing free agent small forward Matt Barnes.

The Clippers and Barnes who’ve been working on a deal for over a week agreed to a three year, $11 or $12 million dollar deal according to Yahoo Sports.

    Per Marc J. Spears:
"Clippers forward Matt Barnes has agreed to a three-year deal paying in the $11 million to $12 million range, a source told Yahoo! Sports."

Barnes had been drawing interest from a handful of teams, including the New York Knicks and city rival, the Los Angeles Lakers. Still, it appeared the Clippers presented the most money and given their opportunity to win and amount of playing time, it wasn’t a very tough decision for Barnes.

The former UCLA product experienced his best NBA season with the Clippers last year and should only grow off of that, especially if a starting (or heavy minute) opportunity is to open up.

^ have LOdom and RHollins confirmed their commitment to renew with the LAClippers?

the LAClippers frontcourt does not have a relievers. just like in the playoffs, they might just end up foul ridden and over played.

AGentry named associate head coach and AHill, KEastman and TLue as assistant coaches.

CoachDRivers just overhauled his coaching staff.

they should look for a bigman shooting coach so that their bigs would develop a mid-range shoot and open the paint offense during a half court offense.
  • Griffin needs to improve his basketball IQ and low post game. now lang me nakakita ng player na yung best statistical season eh yung rookie year nila. and he's still an average playoffs performer. Big fundamentally sound big men outplayed this guy in the playoffs.

^ RBullock (SG) should be part of that list.

missing is third PG and a multi-role SF.
a long shot is NRobinson for the PG and RBullock for the SF.
  • gotta lick itgotta lick it PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐
he he .... from the looks of thing, RBullock is D-League bound with a performance of 8-20 FGA and 3-10 triples in the NYK-LAC summer league matchup. he struggled just to produce 22 pts.

the only bright stop is PG JRandle with a balance performance of 9pts, 8ast, 7rebs and 2TOs.

it looks like the LAClippers should prioritize a veteran 3-D guy or defender with a descent mid-range shot.

Antawn Jamison met with new Clippers head coach Doc Rivers recently, and by all accounts there was a certain level of mutual interest.

But it appears now that Jamison will have to wait until another player decides if he’ll take what the Clippers are offering to pay to fill that roster spot for next season.

From Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times:

"Clippers informed former Laker Antawn Jamison team waiting on answer from Lamar Odom as preferred option before Jamison, sources.

Clippers willing to offer Lamar Odom vet. mim. of $1.4 million. Odom would like more, but no team has offered LO anything more."

Odom’s preference is to stay in Los Angeles, but he’d undoubtedly like his next deal to be for more than one season, even if the veteran’s minimum part holds true. But as we’ve detailed here before, Odom isn’t likely to have a ton of choices.

From Jamison’s side, it’s never easy to hear that you’re a team’s second choice — especially if they’ve been stringing you along up until this point.

From Mark Spears of Yahoo! Sports:

"Free agent F Antawn Jamison was led to believe he was signing with LAC before being told today they preferred Lamar Odom, Y! source said."

Chris Paul elected Players Association president
    August 22, 2013 8:38am

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul has been named the new National Basketball Players Association president, following an election at the union's annual summer meeting in Las Vegas, the NBPA announced.

Roger Mason Jr., currently an unsigned free agent, took the post of First Vice President, replacing Jerry Stackhouse. To take over for Paul and Mason Jr.'s old posts, Los Angeles Laker Steve Blake and Charlotte Bobcat Anthony Tolliver will serve as Executive Committee Vice Presidents.

James Jones of the Miami Heat remains as union secretary-treasurer, as his position was not up for election.

Paul, formerly a vice president in the union, takes over for Oklahoma City Thunder Derek Fisher, who is currently embroiled in a legal battle with former executive director Billy Hunter, after the latter was ousted over issues involving the NBPA's finances.

Miami Heat star LeBron James earlier considered running for the position, but ultimately opted against it. - AMD, GMA News
