The Accent CRDi is the new darling of the crowd given it's prodigious power, torque and fuel efficiency. The Jazz though, continues to hold ground with it's good space utilization and of course, the perceived "Honda" badging. A test drive perhaps could help?

I am assuming you're the end buyer.

If that's the case, all the thoughts we may have would amount to nothing more than a hill of beans if you don't have opinions on both cars. All we can do is present arguments.

Going the diesel route is a risk due to the high-sulfur content of our diesoline fuel, especially if the engine runs state-of-the-art common-rail diesel injection (CRDI) technology. Gasoline is much less finicky on a maintenance perspective.

I can tell you from experience that Honda has never had noise/vibration/harshness insulation as a strong suit. I think the Jazz is a little overpriced for what it offers, but almost nothing else in its class offers such interior flexibility. The bodykit on the 1.5V variant is hideous though, IMHO. The front and rear bumpers on the 1.3S look much better.

I don't know much else about the Accent other than the hatchback has better rear headroom vs. the sedan, because the roofline is straighter and doesn't dip to the tail. Hyundai is making huge strides in its interior quality, however.

I'm with Slamm here - test-drive both cars, fondle them in the showroom, and form your own opinion. HTH
