Sana maalagaan ng GMA sina Angelika, Sunshine at especially Jolina. Marami pang mapipiga sa competence nila bilang aktres. Si Ms. jacklyn, expected na naman talaga na brilliant actress sya. Gabby, coming from a clan of known actors and actresses, given na rin. kahit sila lang ok na ang show.0

Revenge of the uglies

GMA 7s NEW teleserye, Mundo Moy Akin, started telecasting last Monday, and generally made a positive impression on us, due to the confident and believable portrayals of its two leads, Angelika dela Cruz and Sunshine Dizon.
They were cast as downright plain and even ugly young women who were reviled and ridiculed by everyoneuntil they were able to avenge themselves on their heartless maligners and bashers.
We appreciated the shows penchant for brisk storytelling. Unlike other series that start two generations in the past, this one begins with the two leads already as young adults.
Angelikas character is so ugly that even her own father ridicules her. She finds comfort in Sunshines friendship, and they get to be so comfortable with each other that they even crack jokes about their lack of good looks. Misery does love company!
Trouble is, Angelikas character needs to make money after her father kicks her out for good, so she finds employment as a caregiver in the mansion of a really sour and rancid old maid, who treats the househelp like dirt. When the spinster dies, her caregiver is shocked to discover that her ostensibly nasty employer has most uncharacteristically willed her vast fortune to her!
Some viewers may find this shocking development difficult to comprehend, but there it is: Wish-fulfilling teleseryes operate on exceedingly stretchable rules of logicso, if the series plot dictates that Angelika should be given a lot of money to turn her sad life around so she can get back at her detractorsvoila! Consider it done!
More specifically, a preview of future episodes shows Angelika no longer ugly, so we presume that a cosmetic surgeon has performed his expensive ministrations on her. And it looks like she will also be reunited with her best friend, Sunshine, with whom she will share her newfound riches. How nice for ugly people everywhere!
But, much of that still has to come to dramatic fruition. Eventually, we hope that the show will be able to make some strong points about how we relate to beauty and ugliness, and how they impinge on our collective psyche and value system, both within and without.0 -
Angelika dela Cruz enjoys playing a "jologs" character in Mundo Mo'y Akin

Angelika dela Cruz is now back on GMA-7's Telebabad via Mundo Mo'y Akin.
This Kapuso teleserye started airing last March 18, replacing Pahiram ng Sandali, which was topbilled by Lorna Tolentino, Christopher de Leon, Dingdong Dantes, Max Collins and Alessandra de Rossi.
In Angelika's new soap, the story follows best friends Perlita and Rodora. She explains the show's plot by saying, "Parehong pangit and when you're that ugly, nilalait ka ng mga tao, kinukutya ka, but you need to accept it na parang okay lang, sige, tanggap mo na..."
Angelika plays Rodora while Sunshine Dizon is cast as Perlita. Angelika, describes her character by saying, "Ako yung tipong, wala na bang pagbabago etong buhay natin, I want a change." As the story progresses, Rodora improves and becomes beautiful and this transformation complicates her life and provides the twists in the story.
Sunshine makes her comeback to television after a three-year hiatus. She previously worked with Angelika in Umulan Man O Umaraw and Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin. Joining them in the cast are Jolina Magdangal, Gabby Eigenmann, and Jaclyn Jose. This teleserye also features the love team of Alden Richards and Louise delos Reyes and newcomer Lauren Young who used to be with ABS-CBN.
What excites Angelika about this project is that "the character is really fun to play with, kasi si Rodora, kahit inaapi siya, jologs siya, tapos palaban siya. So nung gumanda siya, hirap na hirap siya itago yung pagiging jologs niya." Angelika got to enjoy the range of emotions, especially when Rodora gets angry. "May moment na lumalabas yung pagka-jologs niya, pero tinatago niya kasi dapat pasosyal. Ang sarap laruin ng character niya."
Angelika, who is married and has a son named Gabby, is one of the actresses in the Philippine showbiz landscape who understands what longevity means. She is asked to describe it, and answers candidly, "siguro multi-vitamins, kasi sa industriya natin kailangan marami kang alam gawin, e. Kapag iisa lang yung alam mong gawin, mahirap, e. So pag gusto mo tumagal, kailangan pwede ka magcomedy, pwede ka magdrama, pwede ka magkunwa-waring paseksi, pwede kang kumanta, pwede kang sumayaw, kailagang ganoon. So multi-vitamin, halo-halo, bitamina!"
Is there anything left on Angelika's bucket list when it comes to projects or roles given that she has done so much already? "Sa mga proyekto, hindi e, kasi...sa akin kasi kapag may dumarating, saka ko lang siya inaaral, wala na ako nung tipo...yung mga gusto ko gawin...sa akin kasi isa sa mga bucket list ko ay makatapos ng Ironman." Angelika is joining a grueling triathlon and training for it this summer, while her husband Orion Casareo is joining Ironman Australia.
The actress, who considers mom Angelica Egger as a strong inspiration because of her emotional strength, has learned that "ang hirap mag expect tapos iba yung darating sa 'yo, natuto na ako na kung ano yung darating sa akin, papagandahin ko!"
And given a choice, if Angelika ever found herself stuck on island, she says she'd want to be stuck there with her husband, "Nag-iisa lang yun kasi isa siya sa pinaka-fun na person na nakilala ko and pwede kami tumagal ng kahit na ilang taon na nagtiktak-talak, at marami kaming gagawin...beach yun," she grins in a very mischievous manner.
When asked to use the show's title in a sentence, Angelika said with a laugh: "Mundo Mo'y Akin kaya ibigay mo na, huwag mo ipagdamot."0 -
Louise humihingi ng respeto sa mga nang-aasar
Nabasa namin ang tweet ni Louise delos Reyes na excited na siyang mag-first taping day ng primetime soap ng GMA 7 na Mundo Moy Akin. Pero ang sumunod nitong tweet, parang galit at may pinatutungkulan. Sino kaya ang sinabihan ng aktres na Respect. Hindi pinaglalaruan ang puso.
Obvious na may kinalaman sa breakup nila ni Enzo Pineda ang tweet ni Louise at totoo namang sa halip na intindihin siya dahil hindi madali para sa kanya na wakasan ang two-year relationship nila ng ex-boyfriend ay may mga nang-aasar pa.
Anyway, malapit nang mapanood si Marilyn, karakter ni Louise sa Mundo Moy Akin, may prosthetics siya rito at inaming nagulat at kinabahan siya dahil baka matawa sa kanya ang viewers.
Balik-tambalan dito sina Louise at Alden Richards at alam niyang marami ang nag-request na mapanood uli sila.
Samantala, kahit malungkot ang love life, masaya pa rin si Louise dahil sa April 17, ga-graduate na siya ng kursong foreign service. Kukuha siya ng exam sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) para magtrabaho. Gagawan niya ng paraan na mapagsabay ang showbiz at ang mapapasukang trabaho.0
