Hindi talaga ako mahilig sa kotse, nagmomotor ako since i was grade 6. Until I was forced to buy my bestfriend's car kasi paalis na sya noon n g dubai. It was just a very simple car na, kaya ng budget pero ang problema, never pa ako nakahawak ng manibela! Tinuruan nya ako agad magdrive. Dun pa kami sa likod ng Sutherland Kalayaan ng practice. Tapos after 30mins, tumawag ang asawa nya at naaksidente si junior nya. to make the story short, naiwan ako sa loob ng kotse magisa! What da F?!!! E taga signal pa ako at kailangan ko pa dumaan ng EDSA para umuwi! Ni hindi nga ako marunong magparking! natatawa talaga ako sa experience ko pagnaalala ko pa sya hanggang ngayon...
Ang daming beses ko namatayan sa C5 dahil nga newbie... hinahayaan ko lang talaga mainis yung mga nasa likod ko, sinigawan pa ako ng jeepney driver na wag ka dito magpraktis! hahaha! Tagtak talaga pawis ko kasi ang pera ko sa pitaka bente pesos na lang, yung 1000, napunta sa panggas!
pag tawid ng c5 nakahinga ako ng maluwag, ayun lang, kala ko katapusan ko na... hehehe.

Ang daming beses ko namatayan sa C5 dahil nga newbie... hinahayaan ko lang talaga mainis yung mga nasa likod ko, sinigawan pa ako ng jeepney driver na wag ka dito magpraktis! hahaha! Tagtak talaga pawis ko kasi ang pera ko sa pitaka bente pesos na lang, yung 1000, napunta sa panggas!
pag tawid ng c5 nakahinga ako ng maluwag, ayun lang, kala ko katapusan ko na... hehehe.

ang drinadrive ko was a tamaraw fx with an fb body. so i was delivering around metro manila.
i guess dun ako natuto talaga.
plus GRAN TURISMO 3. Never discount that game. That game teaches car physics that no driving school can. yes, hindi nasisira ang sasakyan. but you won't be able to stay on track if you don't understand the physics.0 -
I learned how to drive on our suzuki multicab back in the province. With out the permission with my father i drove it several times. Marunong ako sa motor so basic skills medyo alam ko na, magkaiba lang ng style kasi ang gas ng motor nasa kamay at sa oto ay nasa paa.
When I first drive here in Manila, nahirapan ako sa trapik na paakyat like sa fly over tapos trapik. Nakaatras ako ng innova, crack ang front bumper ng innova pero halos hindi naman malakas ang atras, hindi ko kasi naapakan agad ang gas at hindi din ako naka hand brake kaya umatras. Cost of the damage 4k php.... Naareglo agad..0 -
i drove with my dad. sa loob kame ng Fort Bonifacio nagpractice so walang bangga na ngyare. when my dad asked me to drive in the highway, i'm running 20/kph only at nasa tabi ako ng kalye, wala sa gitna. kaya hassle sa mga liliko, pero hindi sila pwede magbusina, kasi may sticker ng navy ang kotse...(perks of being a Philippines Soldier)...0

yung tirik din at trapik ang dillema ko nung newbie lang ako sa pagmamaneho ng 4 wheels. Unlike sa motor, chillax pag trapik. buti na lang sir jab1026 hindi na ulit nasundan yung ganung experience, sobrang magastos pag nakaatras tayo lalo na pag BMW o Porche ang nasalikod natin!0 -

20 kph. hehehe! Iyak na lang nasa likod nyo sir may Swagger Sticker pala kayo! hehehe. halos lahat ng 4wheel driver nagsimula halos sa ganun kabagal na takbo. e ngayon? 200 kph na ba?0 -
Ford Fiera 1300 sa Marcos Highway sa Benguet, baba akyat lang dun. (Hindi gamit yung highway way back then, bihira lang dumadaan, walang masyadong mga bahay at yung mga damo gumagapang na across the pavement on some parts)
wow ang cool ng pinagpraktisan nyo ah, parang naalala ko yung Initial D na da movie... Drifter na rin ba kayo ngayon sir?0 -

I never owned a car up to now. I had a pickup before and now a Land Cruiser 70 series. I have driven enough VTECs and VVTIs, though , not the modified kinds. The most modified car that I was able to drive was a toyota corolla (or corona?) macho, with a 22rte engine, from urdaneta, pangasinan to baguio in 33 minutes, via kennon zig zag road. That was a long time ago, before they organzed hillclimbs, and other races.
Off topic, I learned a lot from my Tatay and his old Ford Fiera, not only driving and car DIYs, and engine rebuilding, they taught me discipline, patience, humility, resourcefulness, frugality (living within your means)....and other virtues, which can never be taught more effectively (IMHO) any other way.
I miss my Tatay and old Ford Fiera.....0 -

That was a long time ago, before they organzed hillclimbs, and other races.

parehas tayo sir. my dad told me how to check brake fluids, clutch fluids, water, how to change a tire, how to be polite sa mga gasoline boys, kailan ka magti-tip (hehehe), and to be patient sa daan lalo na pag uber traffic.
hindi nga lang nya ako tinuruan how to be patient sa mga law enforcer hahaha..0 -

hahaha, i'm still using my dad's old car which can run for max of 120/kph, sa SLEX at NLEX ko lang nagagawa yan. sobrang mahal namin ang kotse na iyon. Nung nagretire na ang tatay ko, tinanggal na rin namin iyong sticker, hehehe, hindi na "kick-*****$" ang dating ko sa kalye.0 -
hehehe, wish i had a dad who would teach me the discipline... problem is barkada lang ako natuto magdrive at parang na-adapt ko pa driving habits nya na hindi maganda... so far wala pa naman ako aksidente, kasi para sa akin, importante sa lahat malakas ang brake system ko.0

enrolled in driving schools twice, first one was way back in college. I didn't have my own car back then so hindi ko rin na practice.
5 years later had my second schooling, napansin ata nung instructor na medyo marunong ako 1st day pina diretso na ako ng C-5. Second day Edsa. third day Kapitolyo-Pasig dito na ko nahirapan, walang pakialam mga tricycle and jeep kahit may mark na driving school yung sasakyan. dito ako nababad sa stop and go. hindi mabilang ilan beses namatay yung oto. I remember pag full stop I keep wiping my hands sa pants ko. medyo nag sweat kasi pag kinakabahan hahah
another palpak moment ng shift ako from 2 to 5 hehehe0 -
learned to drive using oner, sobrang hirap ng timpla nya kaya lagi ako namamatayan, plus yung mga slope pag dun ako namatayan di na ko makaabante. dumating sa point na ubos na baterya sa kaka-start. after a couple of hours ibabalik ko na yung oner sa garahe, di ko maibalik, tatamaan ko na yung gate, hahaha.
then i was able to borrow a pick-up, sa sobrang hirap ko sa oner eh napaka-dali na nung pick-up. i had a few near misses with the pickup, thank god nothing major. after a few try sa pick-up i upgraded to an AT car, never looked back since then, haha.
yun nga lang akala ko dun na natatapos ang "learning", dami ko pa rin natutunan sa kalsada while driving, mga violation, what lane to use, mga notorious area sa mga kotong , etc.0 -

pagnagsimula ka sa owner na mahirap dalhin, yung maganit ang shifting, pawis steering, walang gauges at malipat ka sa kotse o mga automatic, sigurado Chill ka na magpatakbo!
oo tama ka, we still have a lot to learn when it comes to really "learning the skill to drive..."

madalas kasi motor ang gamit ko kaya maikli pasensya ko sa trapik... minsan pag nakakotse ako kuma-counterflow ako na parang motor. Nakalimutan ko yata na kotse dala ko! tapos sabay magttrapik. Patay! hehehe, 2 beses lang naman nanyrai yun.0 -
The thing that always gets me in D Pinoy culture of motorists, is that they equate driving with only the singular act of operating the motor vehicle, while in fact, driving really involves a lot of other things, not only operating the vehicle. This includes, safety, following traffic rules and regulations, knowing the ins and outs of roads (a road map in your head, where you can easily get to where you are going), self discipline and most importantly, respect to other motorists and pedestrians (all other people for that matter).0

I remember i was 8 turning 9yo. yung 2nd car namin lagi lang naiiwan sa garahe. Mahilig ako manuod sa paa ng mga jeepney driver pati pano sila kumakambyo. then ginagaya ko sa kotse ng nakapatay makina. then one day nautusan ako mag start ng makina para di ma stuck up since naka park lang lagi, my heart jumped!! dun na nag simula. pa apak apak sa gas, natutunan ko mag timpla. then naka subok ako ng atras abante. pero ang problem ko lagi namamatay. di ko pa alam pano itimpla yung clutch. gang nakita ako ng tatay ko na nag aatras abante, pinagtawanan ako kasi bakit daw namamatay? ayun tinuruan nya ko para di mamatay makina. then when I was 9, 1st time ko mailabas ng garahe yung yung kotse. labas masok naman gawa ko. after a few months ng ganun, nagsawa na ko, tinry ko na umikot sa street namin. wala sasakyan pa masyado kasi subd yun, lahat ng naka kotse nasa opisina pa. ang problem ko naman tantya ng pagliko ng manibela. yun ang matagal ko natutunan.0

Well, dude, I couldn't agree more of what you just said... Driving is more than just skill. Its good that you've mentioned "D Pinoy..." coz, its really evident to most of us. But hope this is not to generalized us, drivers here in the Phil. As what my cuz from states would usually quote and I quote "Welcome to the Phillipines!"0 -
